Are there any other chili fans here?
I really developed a taste for it after eating Chili Crab in Singapore in the early 80's.
These days, I love most chili dishes - mexican, indian, etc. Great stuff.
Currently, I am growing (attempting to grow :) ) a few types of chili from seed:
Naga Jolokia
White habanero
Flourescent purple
Tabasco
Jalapeno
Have grown habanero and jalapeno before.
So, do others here enjoy chili? Any particular varieties? Discuss all things chili! :D

I used to love chili but now thanks to acid reflux I can no longer eat it unless it's dulled down to almost a tastless crap.

Oh man that's unfortunate.
Reflux is a serious problem though, so best off looking after it.
Still, it would suck to not be able to indulge in spicy food.

The purples are very good for salads.
As I've just been given a hydroponic setup (heh, a birthday "surprise") that I'm not supposed to know about yet **lets hear it for very obvious friends**
I might be trying out some in there, yknow among other things.
My purple kind've got butchered, grew too many chillis and wiped itself out a bit...it's still alive and well, just small and not really doing much.
I saw the (?not sure of name) black round ones growing on an almost purple tree at the local organic markets, I'll be buying one of those soon.

They sound great, but not sure what type they are.

I LOVE chilis of all shapes and sizes but am most particularly fond of dried and roasted poblanos and pasillas - great smokey flavor and just enough zing

That is one of the things that I really like about chillis - there is so much variation in flavours, heat, etc. There are so many varieties to try, and combinations make for almost limitless permutations.

Yes, I love chili peppers, all sorts, although I cannot overdo it, I can stand only so much spicy.
On the subject of "chili," as in chili stew dishes and so on: Bloodrayne, the darling, the wonderful Bloodrayne...she sent several cans of Cincinnati Chili a while back, a different type of chili recipe that is not spicy hot but IS rich in savory spices, many commonly used in pumpkin pie (clove, ginger, cinnamon, allspice). This stuff is poured hot over noodles and topped with cheese; it is probably the most awesome special spaghetti sauce ever devised.
Do a search on recipes for this one, it is most intriguing and very much recommended.

Ah yes, but it is fairly easy to prepare. Mainly the sauce is made of beef, tomatoes, and the spices.

So how does one find this fabled recipe? :D

Do a search on "Cincinnati Chili recipe," and find one of the many recipes out there. They vary in complexity; pick one that looks easy and give it a go. You can even have cans of the stuff shipped to you, several people sell the canned versions on Ebay.
I bought some dry mix packets, but I was not thrilled with those. The canned stuff is divine, though.

I will give it a go. I'm not afraid of the kitchen, so don't mind making it from scratch.
Thanks
