I have to say that I have a very limited collection of horror movies...actually, I have very limited collection of moves generally (and yes, I'm very much ashamed of it). movies and especially horror movies are my life but I'm a poor student and I rarely have the money to buy full price films ( that's why I practically live in the video rental store) ...so, I have just like 20 (horror) films, and there's just few that I really like and can honestly say that are worth watching (Cannibal holocaust, Terror firmer, Hellraiser I-IV, Dr. Galigari's cabinet and The body snatchers)

I'm still working on getting some rare ones. I have been trying to hunt down a original copy of Street Trash. I found some at Amazon for OUTRAGOUS prices. Most were around 70 bucks, and hey, I'm not paying THAT much for ANY movie, no matter how badly I want it. I shall sit and wait for a dumbass who knows not of it's true value, and puts it up for sale on Half.com for like, 10 bucks. LOL

I think that my most valuble tape is Evilspeak, with Clint Howard. It's an original copy. It has a slide-out box which is in pretty shitty shape though. I have had to tape it up several times. LOL

impressive collections??? what the hell??? I hate people like that. It's like the "gear guys" in music. Basically, you might as well be asking, "So, who's got the most money?" Who cares? I think WATCHING the movies is more important than some imagined contest you're having against the rest of the world. But then again, art (including film) has always been a very bourgeois pasttime. And yes, I said the word "bourgeois."

It's from the guy who did Fritz the Cat and the animated Lord of the Rings movies (maybe just the first one). The final face-off between the brothers is great.

Wizards is great. To me, the best part is the watercolor backgrounds that are somtimes obviously added in after the rest of the frame has been drawn and animated.

I got a couple hundred. Mostly slasher zombie and vampire flicks, but i got some other shit too. Lots of B-movies. Lots of Troma.

I'm in the process (It will take me a few years.) of watching, grading, and writing a review of every single horror movie that I can get my hands on. (My long term goal is to get a book published for horror fans, by a horror fan.)

At this point, A Nightmare on Elm St. (original) is leading the pack as the best movie I've reviewed yet. (It got 86/100 pts. I am a very tough critic.) But please be aware that I haven't gotten around to watching many films that I know are good. (I haven't even watched any of the Halloweens, Fridays, or TCMs, yet. I've seen them, I just havent rewatched them since I started doing this grading thing.)

I grade on the following criteria....

20 point catergories- Plot, Villain, Scariness

10 point catergories- Gore, FX, Script, Acting.

Side Note: If anyone's interested here are the other films that are currently in my top 10.

1-A Nightmare on Elm St.- 86/100
2-Dawn of the Dead (Original)- 85/100
3-Freddy vs. Jason- 83/100
4-Day of the Dead- 81/100
5-Return of the Living Dead- 76/100
6-Night of the Living Dead (orignal)- 75/100
7-Hellraiser- 74/100
8-A Nightmare on Elm St. 3- 73/100
T9-Evil Dead- 71/100
T9-Demons- 71/100
T9- Night of the Living Dead (Remake)- 71/100

I'm sure that there will be a lot of people who would like to argue me on this list, but please understand that I haven't watched every movie yet. I am well aware that there are more than 2 horror movies that have a higher overall entertainment value than Freddy vs. Jason, I just haven't gotten to them yet. I will admit that I was almost saddened by the score that Demons and Evil Dead ended with. These are two of my all-time favorites, but using my grading scale and remaining consistent with the criteria I used in grading all the other films, they ended up with the scores that they have. (They both got 10/10 in the gore catergory, but they suffered in some of the others.)

Please feel free to respond as I am anxious to hear feedback on this post.

Money, I didn't spend that much amassing that collection. It's taken me 23 years to get the 3,000 videos I have. I have over 800 Betamax tapes that I got for free and heaps for under $2 dollars.
Some are expensive, the UK videos that I had blackstar videohunt for me and back when the AUD-USD exchange rate was 50cents per US dollar.

hmmm, ive decided that knife_fight, for obvious reasons, is a raging homosexual. i love the fact that you tried to sound "high class" by saying that movies are an art and that watching them are more important than owning them, because i agree on that note, but when you get all snippy about it, it pisses me off. AND, there was no contest involved to begin with, i dont know where you got that from. i was just curious as to how many people had. If it were a contest i would have included some terrible prize lineup. So if you dont mind, stop being gay about things.

Awww pookie, do you want an Oreo? Will that make your little woogums feelings all better?

First, although not a homosexual, it definitely shows your level of intellect when you try and use that as a put down. I'm not a very p.c. person, but saying things like, "stop being gay about things" is pretty damn idiotic. Not only that, but your vague use of the word "things" is really humorous. I am assuming that these "things" are the same as the "obvious reasons" that are apparently so obvious that you didn't feel the need to mention what exactly it was that I was being "gay" about.

I also, apparently, tried to sound "high class." What the hell does that even mean? Anything? It's also funny that, on one hand, you sound pissed that I referred to movies as an art and then, in the same sentence, say you agree with me.

I think the prize you "included" with your imagined contest you are having with everyone else is some sort of "pride" thing. Like the kid in the neighborhood who had the most GI Joes or Nintendo games, it appears as though you would like to sit back, content in knowing that you are top of the heap.

Aaaaaand another thing: you say I was "snippy." Anyone familiar with sarcasm would have recognized the self-deprecating nature of the entire post. The use of the word "bourgeois" and the light hint at introductory Communist theory were both meant to set each other off as meaningless. As I said myself in future posts, I have a distaste for people who say things exactly like what I said (which is why I used the sarcasm).

Anyway, now that I have deconstructed your post, I'll say this: if you resent people who want to come here and discuss movies/film/art intelligently because you think they are trying to be "high class," then maybe you should stick to the "pee pee" and "poo poo" threads started and maintained by juveniles and other people who prefer not to think. I can enjoy a thoughtless movie just as much as anyone else, and I too feel like things in the world of movie/film/art are WAY overanalyzed, but there is a flip side of the coin. Anything, no matter how outwardly stupid it may seem, can be discussed as flippantly or as serious as anything else.

Well even though I've been into horror ever sinse I can remember, then it is only in the last year or so I've collected movies. I only have DVDs and out of the lot I have 180 horror movies. I am hoping to get a kick ass collection before the next gen will kick DVDs of the marked, so I guess I have some time left, hehe

ugggh, sigh.

wow, way to analyze things. Here let me analyze you. you seem like the type of person that likes to hear themselves talk. you always have to try and make someone else sound stupid even though you exaggerate way too much. oh and i did sense some man lovin' in there too.

By the way, I own about 100 nintendo games. Beat that sucka.
