Nosferatu is one of my favorite horror movies. I mean, I'm not a big fan of silent movies, but it's definitely the best vampire movie that I've ever seen and Max Schreck is the best vampire of all times ( although Willem Dafoe was pretty good as well in The shadow of the vampire ...)

I just watched Shadow of a Vampire and i think it kicks ass. The subtle way they suggest that vampires are real is fucking awesome. I think we need more movies that do this.

I agree about Nosferatu being a great movie. Impressive to actually produce a truely eerie movie in the year it was made!
Liked the movie with John Malkovitch too. Interesting concept, even though it was fictional.

Nosferatu is great, but the copy I bought has some terrible band like Korn or something doing some bullshit behind it. The cover didn't mention the "updating" of the soundtrack, or I would definitely not have bought it. Still fun to watch on mute, though.

One night a few Halloweens ago they ran a double bill on PBS of Nosferatu and Phantom of the Opera--the silent version--and they both had very haunting background music.
I recorded them both--both good movies but the music won't let me go to sleep.

The silent one has been released in recent times with a soundtrack supplied by Type O Negative.

Ya, my version has that, too. The music is shitty....but the movie was good considering itz time. I thought it was O.K.

"Nosferatu" is one of the true greats of horror cinema. The father of all vampire movies. It still holds up very well considering it was made in 1922. Director F.W. Murnau creates a chilling Gothic atmosphere and Max Schrek is brilliant. Totally convincing.
