Motorist Allegedly Hits, Drags Man Over Eight Miles
Leesburg Man Faces Manslaughter Charges in Fatal Accident
Springfield (AP) - A Lorton motorist is facing several charges after police say he hit a man on Interstate 95 and dragged his body 8½ miles.
Fairfax County Police said Josuel Galdino, 25, of Lorton called them about 6 a.m. Sunday to report a man's body was caught in the front-end suspension of his sport utility vehicle.
"He said he thought he ran somebody over at the interstate and by the way the man is dead, laying in front of his house," said Sophia Grinnan, a police spokeswoman.
Investigators said Fitsum Gebreegziabher, 27, of Woodbridge had got out of his car because of a flat tire in a southbound lane of the interstate near the Fairfax County Parkway. Grinnan said Gebreegziabher was struck and killed, and his body dragged to Galdino's home.
Galdino was held without bond Sunday on charges of manslaughter, driving while intoxicated and felony hit and run. Arraignment was scheduled for Monday morning, said police spokesman Terry Williams.
