No idea, but I have a hunch. Scientologists believe everything can be fixed without medication. That meds stay in your body forever and are treated as poisons. They go so far as to say that taking Advil or other pain medication interferes with your brain so you cant get audits 24 hours after taking an Advil.
Scientology has also been under fire in the past for denying the seriously ill medication. One woman died under the care of the church of Scientology. Autopsy showed all sorts of bruises and cuts on her body and she went there to get better?
In my search for a new religion that is better suited to me, I have done a lot of research.

Studio exec and producer Ned Tanen, who served as president of Universal and Paramount and produced three popular Brat Pack films in the 1980s, died Monday of natural causes in Santa Monica.
He was 77.
The versatile producer was remembered as having a dry wit and deep love for movies. Tanen started as an agent, then launched record label Uni Records before becoming a producer and studio topper for Universal and Paramount during the years they turned out influential films from “American Graffiti” to “The Deer Hunter” and “Top Gun.”
“He was an inspiration to a whole generation of us,” said former Paramount chair Sherry Lansing, who worked with Tanen on films including “The Accused” and “Fatal Attraction.” “I would always think about what he would do. He could always spot the talent -- his instincts were so good,” she said.
Born in Los Angeles, Tanen graduated from UCLA and served with the U.S. Air Force.
After starting as an MCA agent in 1954, Tanen founded the MCA-owned Uni Records in 1967. The label helped launch the careers of artists including the Strawberry Alarm Clock, Olivia Newton-John, Neil Diamond and Elton John and merged with Decca Records to form MCA Records.
Tanen then moved into film production. He acted as production supervisor on Milos Forman’s “Taking Off,” and in 1975 he started overseeing features for Universal. In 1976 he became president of U’s theatrical motion pictures division.
“He had a wicked sense of the absurd parts of the business. He forced us to take risks while he always had our backs and the man had courage,” said producer and former Universal production prexy Sean Daniel.
Among the films he developed and greenlit at Universal were “Smokey and the Bandit,” “Coal Miner’s Daughter,” “Melvin and Howard” and “Missing,” helping to introduce filmmakers including George Lucas, Robert Zemeckis and Costa-Gavras.
“Ned was someone who spawned a generation of young filmmakers. He was the kind of guy who doesn’t exist today -- he was someone of great quality,” said producer Albert S. Ruddy, a longtime friend and associate.
During Tanen’s time as an independent producer, his Channel Prods. label produced the Brat Pack trilogy of John Hughes’ “Sixteen Candles” and “The Breakfast Club” plus Joel Schumacher’s “St. Elmo’s Fire.”
“He launched so many people’s careers,” said Schumacher, whose first two features as a director, “The Incredible Shrinking Woman” and “DC Cab,” were greenlit by Tanen. Schumacher recalled that no one wanted to make “St. Elmo’s Fire,” but Tanen got Columbia to do it.
“He believed in you, and he would put his money where his mouth was,” Schumacher said, describing Tanen’s sense of humor as “wry, dark and ironic.”
In 1984 Tanen joined Paramount as president of the motion picture group, where films made under his tenure included “Planes, Trains and Automobiles” and “The Untouchables.”
He retired from Par in 1988 to become a consultant with the studio, and in 1992 he signed a producing agreement with Sony Pictures Entertainment. His later producing credits include “Mary Reilly,” “Cops and Robbersons” and “Guarding Tess.”
Tanen is survived by his partner, Donna Dubrow; two daughters; and three grandchildren.

Patrick McGoohan, the Emmy award-winning actor who created and starred in 1960s TV show The Prisoner, has died at the age of 80.
The actor's son-in-law, film producer Cleve Landsberg, said today that McGoohan had died yesterday in Los Angeles after a short illness.
McGoohan was best known as the title character Number Six in surreal drama The Prisoner, which aired on ITV in the UK. He played a former spy who is held captive in a small village and constantly tries to escape.
He also won two Emmys for detective drama Columbo, playing different characters, with the first coming in 1974 and the other 16 years later.
More recently, McGoohan appeared as King Edward Longshanks in the 1995 Mel Gibson film Braveheart.
McGoohan, who was born in New York but raised in England and Ireland, came to screen prominence in ITV's early 1960s drama series Danger Man, in which he played a secret agent.
He was also considered for the lead role in the first James Bond movie, Dr No, before Sean Connery was cast.
However, it was The Prisoner, which aired originally on ITV between 1967 and 1968, with which he was chiefly associated, writing some of the episodes himself under a different name.
His character, Number Six, spent the entire time attempting to escape from a prison – which was disguised as a holiday camp – and trying to find out the identity of his captor, the elusive Number One. He repeatedly declared: "I am not a number - I am a free man!"
In 2000, McGoohan reprised his most famous role in an episode of The Simpsons. His last acting job came in 2002, voicing a character in animation Treasure Planet.
ITV is currently remaking The Prisoner in conjunction with American cable channel AMC.It is due to air later this year.
McGoohan's other film acting credits include Ice Station Zebra, Escape from Alcatraz, Scanners and A Time to Kill.

Philip Jose Farmer has passed away at age 91. Primarily known as a science fiction writer, he did write three horror novels. According to the Clute/Nicholls Encyclopedia of SF, IMAGE OF THE BEAST; BLOWN; and TRAITOR TO THE LIVING comprise the Exorcism trilogy. While not raising any eyebrows today, they were originally published as pornographic horror. Porn publisher Essex House commissioned them and published the first two. Ballantine Books published the third as science fiction. I read all three and think they're great. Recommended.

Paul Harvey, once known as the most listened to man in radio, has died at the age of 90 at a hospital near his winter home in Phoenix.
Harvey's career in radio spanned more than 70 years, and his shows "News & Comment" and "Rest of the Story" made him a familiar voice in Americans' homes across the country.
His death comes nine months after that of his wife, Lynne Cooper Harvey, whom he often called "Angel" on air, and who was also his business partner and the first producer ever inducted in the the Radio Hall of Fame.
"My father and mother created from thin air what one day became radio and television news," Paul Harvey Jr. said. "So, in the past year, an industry has lost its godparents. And, today millions have lost a friend."
From his humble beginnings as a teenager helping out cleaning up at a local radio station, Harvey went on to have his broadcasts carried by 1,350 commercial radio stations, as well as 400 stations of the Armed Forces Radio Service, and was inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame in 1990.

Award-winning actor and activist Ron Silver, who was Emmy-nominated for his role on the hit U.S. television drama "The West Wing," died on Sunday of cancer. He was 62.
"Ron Silver died peacefully in his sleep with his family around him early Sunday morning," said Robin Bronk, executive director of the Creative Coalition, which Silver helped found.
Bronk said Silver was with his family in New York City and he had been fighting esophageal cancer for two years.
Bronk called Silver not only a very talented actor, but a champion of free speech and artists' rights.

Natasha Richardson faced a tragic final curtain Tuesday night as her heartbroken family gathered in New York to say farewell to the Tony Award-winning actress.
Felled by a skiing accident, Richardson had "been on life support since this morning," a source close to the family said yesterday. "She is brain-dead."
Her husband, actor Liam Neeson, and their two sons, Michael, 13, and Daniel, 12, were with her.
So was Richardson's mother, legendary actress Vanessa Redgrave. Richardson's sister, actress Joely Richardson, was also helping them deal with this "absolutely dire and terrible" situation, the source said.
Late last night, Joely fought back tears and declined to comment as she took her stricken sister's sons into Lenox Hill Hospital, where Natasha was on a ventilator.
It was a sudden, tragic finale for the 45-year-old actress, whose late father was Oscar-winning director Tony Richardson.
What made the loss even harder to accept was that Richardson didn't appear to be badly hurt when she wiped out while skiing on a bunny slope at a Canadian resort Monday afternoon.
Her sons were with her at the time. Richardson, laughing at her own clumsiness, refused at first to go to a doctor, witnesses said.
Tuesday night, there were tears as Richardson's family prepared to follow the heart-crushing choreography that goes with making the decision to let a loved one go.
"The rule of thumb is: You have two neurological exams, 12 hours apart, to show that there is no evidence of higher brain activity," said Dr. Philip Stieg, chairman of New York-Presbyterian Hospital Weill Cornell's department of neurological surgery.
"If that is so, the patient is brain-dead; they are clinically dead."
At that point, he said, "The family has two options:
"You turn off the ventilator, the heart will stop beating, and that is it," he said. Or, the family can keep her alive a bit longer "and allow them time to say goodbye."
The tragedy sent shock waves down Broadway.
Richardson won her Tony in 1998 for playing Sally Bowles in "Cabaret." She is "theater royalty," said William Ivey Long, who designed her costumes.
"Natasha is strong, but when you hear about something so horrible you think about those vulnerable characters" she has played, Long said.
"Natasha is one of the greatest actresses of her generation," added Todd Haimes, artistic director of the Roundabout Theatre Company. "Incredibly sweet, gracious."
Richardson has another strong tie to Broadway - she met her husband when they starred together in "Anna Christie."

And so it ended...
After sustaining brain damage in a freak ski accident Monday, actress Natasha Richardson died Wednesday at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York.
She was 45.
http://i385.photobucket.com/albums/oo298/captainwaggett/ooo/main1-1.jpg
A member of the Redgrave acting dynasty -- and a Tony winner for "Cabaret" in 1999 -- Richardson was skiing at Mont-Tremblant near Montreal when she suffered a seemingly minor fall during a ski lesson.
The actress felt fine, but later complained of a headache and was hospitalized, then flown on Tuesday to the U.S. with swelling of the brain. Reports indicate she was taken off life support on Wednesday.
She was married to Liam Neeson, with whom she had two sons, and was the daughter of Vanessa Redgrave.
She was born in London in 1963 and made her film debut at age 4 in "The Charge of the Light Brigade," directed by her father, Tony Richardson.
In "Vanessa Redgrave: An Autobiography," the actress describes her daughter as Ophelia in a Young Vic production of "Hamlet." Richardson did not play the "mad scene" as insane, but rather grief-stricken at the horrors she'd seen adults commit. It quieted the rowdy audience of young students and her grandfather, Sir Michael Redgrave summed up, "She's a true actress" -- high praise from someone who was not easily impressed.
Her biggest triumphs continued to be on the stage, particularly in New York, though she had a successful career on TV and in films. One of her most prominent earlier roles was starring as "Patty Hearst" in the 1988 Paul Schrader biopic.
Other notable film roles included Ken Russell's "Gothic," "A Month in the Country," "The Handmaid's Tale" (1990), "Nell," "The Comfort of Strangers," "Widows' Peak," "The Parent Trap" (1998), "Maid in Manhattan," "The White Countess" (2005) and last year's "Evening."
She also worked occasionally in television, notably opposite Maggie Smith in a 1993 remake of Tennessee Williams' "Suddenly, Last Summer," directed by Richard Eyre.
"Not only was Natasha Richardson one of the greatest actresses of her generation," Roundabout A.D.'s Todd Haimes said in a statement, "but she was also a treasured member of the Roundabout family and a wonderful friend. Our hearts go out to Natasha’s family at this devastating time.”
Among her survivors are her husband; her mother; her sister, actress Joely Richardson; and two sons.

Terminally ill British television reality star Jade Goody died in her sleep in the wee hours on Sunday, her publicist Max Clifford announced.
Goody, 27, who was diagnosed with cervical cancer in August last year, is survived by her two sons Freddy and Bobby and husband Jack Tweed.
The dental nurse died at home in Upshire, Essex, UK, after a very public battle with the disease. She shot into fame as a Big Brother contestant in 2002.
Born as Jade Cerisa Lorraine Goody on June 5, 1981, her mother Jackiey Budden raised her as a single parent after her father left them when she was just two years old. Goody had openly spoken about her troubled childhood and her struggle to get an education saying that her poverty-ridden early days prompted her to secure a better future for her sons from a relationship with television presenter Jeff Brazier.
Goody, 27, died in her sleep in the early hours today with her mother Jackiey and husband Jack Tweed by her side at her home in Upshire, Essex at 0314 GMT, away from public glare and cameras that dominated her short life.
Goody's sons had planned to hand over a pair of hand-made cards and flowers this morning to their mother.
The star, who was being treated at the Royal Marsden Hospital in west London, was shifted to her home after expressing the desire to die surrounded by her family.
She was in a coma-like state for last 48 hours.
Her publicist and close friend Clifford said "She was a very, very brave girl and she faced her death in the way she faced her whole life - full on, with a lot of courage," he said.

Never watched Angel but that's too young to die.
As for Jade Goody, I think it's terrible too that she died so young, and it was Mothering Sunday here in England. However, what does annoy me is that since she got cancer she is suddenly no longer a bad person. She was still a racist cow, it's just unfortunate what happened to her. I wish people wouldn't suddenly change their opinions just because someone gets ill and or dies.

I am deeply saddened by the passing of J.G. Ballard. While not a writer of horror fiction, he was quirky and absurd enough to be easily enjoyed by the horror fan. And speaking of CRASH, according to the Clute/Nicholls SF Encyclopedia,"...one publisher's reader wrote of the manuscript: 'The author of this book is beyond psychiatric help.'" Definitely deserves to be read.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Beatrice Arthur, the tall, deep-voiced actress whose razor-sharp delivery of comedy lines made her a TV star in the hit shows "Maude" and "The Golden Girls" and who won a Tony Award for the musical "Mame," died Saturday. She was 86.
Arthur died peacefully at her Los Angeles home with her family at her side, family spokesman Dan Watt said. She had cancer, Watt said, declining to give further details.
"She was a brilliant and witty woman," said Watt, who was Arthur's personal assistant for six years. "Bea will always have a special place in my heart."
Arthur first appeared in the landmark comedy series "All in the Family" as Edith Bunker's loudly outspoken, liberal cousin, Maude Finley. She proved a perfect foil for blue-collar bigot Archie Bunker (Carroll O'Connor), and their blistering exchanges were so entertaining that producer Norman Lear fashioned Arthur's own series.
In a 2008 interview with The Associated Press, Arthur said she was lucky to be discovered by TV after a long stage career, recalling with bemusement CBS executives asking about the new "girl."
"I was already 50 years old. I had done so much off-Broadway, on Broadway, but they said, `Who is that girl? Let's give her her own series,'" Arthur said.
"Maude" scored with television viewers immediately on its CBS debut in September 1972, and Arthur won an Emmy Award for the role in 1977.
The comedy flowed from Maude's efforts to cast off the traditional restraints that women faced, but the series often had a serious base. Her husband Walter (Bill Macy) became an alcoholic, and she underwent an abortion, which drew a torrent of viewer protests. Maude became a standard bearer for the growing feminist movement in America.
The ratings of "Maude" in the early years approached those of its parent, "All in the Family," but by 1977 the audience started to dwindle. A major format change was planned, but in early 1978 Arthur announced she was quitting the show.
"It's been absolutely glorious; I've loved every minute of it," she said. "But it's been six years, and I think it's time to leave."
"Golden Girls" (1985-1992) was another groundbreaking comedy, finding surprising success in a television market increasingly skewed toward a younger, product-buying audience.
The series concerned three retirees — Arthur, Betty White and Rue McClanahan — and the mother of Arthur's character, Estelle Getty, who lived together in a Miami apartment. In contrast to the violent "Miami Vice," the comedy was nicknamed "Miami Nice."
As Dorothy Zbornak, Arthur seemed as caustic and domineering as Maude. She was unconcerned about the similarity of the two roles. "Look — I'm 5-feet-9, I have a deep voice and I have a way with a line," she told an interviewer. "What can I do about it? I can't stay home waiting for something different. I think it's a total waste of energy worrying about typecasting."
The interplay among the four women and their relations with men fueled the comedy, and the show amassed a big audience and 10 Emmys, including two as best comedy series and individual awards for each of the stars.
In 1992, Arthur announced she was leaving "Golden Girls." The three other stars returned in "The Golden Palace," but it lasted only one season.
Arthur was born Bernice Frankel in New York City in 1922. When she was 11, her family moved to Cambridge, Md., where her father opened a clothing store. At 12 she had grown to full height, and she dreamed of being a petite blond movie star like June Allyson. There was one advantage of being tall and deep-voiced: She was chosen for the male roles in school plays.
Bernice — she hated the name and adopted her mother's nickname of Bea — overcame shyness about her size by winning over her classmates with wisecracks. She was elected the wittiest girl in her class. After two years at a junior college in Virginia, she earned a degree as a medical lab technician, but she "loathed" doing lab work at a hospital.
Acting held more appeal, and she enrolled in a drama course at the New School of Social Research in New York City. To support herself, she sang in a night spot that required her to push drinks on customers.
During this time she had a brief marriage that provided her stage name of Beatrice Arthur. In 1950, she married again, to Broadway actor and future Tony-winning director Gene Saks.
After a few years in off-Broadway and stock company plays and television dramas, Arthur's career gathered momentum with her role as Lucy Brown in the 1955 production of "The Threepenny Opera."
In 2008, when Arthur was inducted in the TV Academy Hall of Fame, Arthur pointed to the role as the highlight of her long career.
"A lot of that had to do with the fact that I felt, `Ah, yes, I belong here,'" Arthur said.
More plays and musicals followed, and she also sang in nightclubs and played small roles in TV comedy shows.
Then, in 1964, Harold Prince cast her as Yente the Matchmaker in the original company of "Fiddler on the Roof."
Arthur's biggest Broadway triumph came in 1966 as Vera Charles, Angela Lansbury's acerbic friend in the musical "Mame," directed by Saks. Richard Watts of the New York Post called her performance "a portrait in acid of a savagely witty, cynical and serpent-tongued woman."
She won the Tony as best supporting actress and repeated the role in the unsuccessful film version that also was directed by Saks, starring Lucille Ball as Mame. Arthur would play a variation of Vera Charles in "Maude" and "The Golden Girls."
In 1983, Arthur attempted another series, "Amanda's," an Americanized version of John Cleese's hilarious "Fawlty Towers." She was cast as owner of a small seaside hotel with a staff of eccentrics. It lasted a mere nine episodes.
Between series, Arthur remained active in films and theater. Among the movies: "That Kind of Woman" (1959), "Lovers and Other Strangers" (1970), Mel Brooks' "The History of the World: Part I" (1981), "For Better or Worse" (1995).
The plays included Woody Allen's "The Floating Light Bulb" and "The Bermuda Avenue Triangle," written by and costarring Renee Taylor and Joseph Bologna. During 2001 and 2002 she toured the country in a one-woman show of songs and stories, "... And Then There's Bea."
Arthur and Saks divorced in 1978 after 28 years. They had two sons, Matthew and Daniel. In his long career, Saks won Tonys for "I Love My Wife," "Brighton Beach Memoirs" and "Biloxi Blues." One of his Tony nominations was for "Mame."
In 1999, Arthur told an interviewer of the three influences in her career: "Sid Caesar taught me the outrageous; (method acting guru) Lee Strasberg taught me what I call reality; and ('Threepenny Opera' star) Lotte Lenya, whom I adored, taught me economy."
In recent years, Arthur made guest appearances on shows including "Curb Your Enthusiasm" and "Malcolm in the Middle." She was chairwoman of the Art Attack Foundation, a non-profit performing arts scholarship organization.
Arthur is survived by her sons and two granddaughters. No funeral services are planned.

There's a difference between faiths established based upon spiritual intuitions and a cult started on a bet. Plus, scientology encourages a gradual numbing of a person to their feelings instead of wanting people to be open to experience and their emotions. Organized religions are cultlike, but still don't tell people to empty themselves regardless of how self-serving their use of doctrine might be.

Wayne Allwine, the artiste who voiced Mickey Mouse for over three decades died in Los Angeles early Monday morning, with his wife Russi Taylor, who voices Minnie Mouse, by his side.
The 62-year-old who has been voicing the legendary cartoon character since 1977, died of complications of diabetes at UCLA Medical Center, reported Los Angeles Times.
'Wayne's great talent, deep compassion, kindness and gentle way, all of which shone brightly through his alter ego, will be greatly missed,' Disney chief executive Robert Iger said in a statement.
Allwine who had joined Disney in 1966 as a helper in the mail room, was the third person to voice Mickey Mouse since the iconic cartoon first hit movie theatres in 1928 with the animated movie Steamboat Willie.
The first to voice Mickey was Walt Disney himself and the role was later passed onto the studio's sound effects wizard Jimmy MacDonald. When MacDonald was passing on the reins to Allwine, he famously remarked, 'Just remember kid, you're only filling in for the boss.'
Allwine made his debut voicing the world's most famous mouse on The New Mickey Mouse Club in 1977 and went on to voice for Disney movies, television specials, theme parks, records, toys and video games.
Allwine was also a well established sound effects editor and had won an Emmy Award in 1986 for outstanding sound editing for a series for Steven Spielberg's Amazing Stories.

Yep. A sad, sad day for all exploitation and horror fans alike.
“Kill Bill” star David Carradine was found dead in a Bangkok hotel room Wednesday, his manager told FOX News Thursday.
Chuck Binder said Carradine, 72, was staying in Bangkok while shooting a movie. The film crew became aware of his absence when they went to dine out at a restaurant yesterday. When a producer went to his room, he discovered that the actor had died.
A statement on behalf of his family has yet to be released, but Binder called the death "shocking and sad."
Binder told FOXNews.com Thursday that the cause of death is "under investigation." While there have been conflicting reports as to the nature of Carradine's death, The Nation newspaper is claiming that Thai police said the actor was found hung in his hotel room from curtain rope in an apparent suicide.
The Nation reports that the hotel maid discovered Carradine's half naked body in a closet Thursday morning and that there were no signs of a struggle or assault.
Carradine was best known for his role in the television series “Kung Fu.” He is the son of noted actor John Carradine.

Erotic asphyxiation refers to intentionally cutting off oxygen to the brain for sexual arousal. It is also called asphyxiophilia, autoerotic asphyxia, scarfing, kotzwarraism, or breath control play. Colloquially, a person engaging in the activity is sometimes called a gasper. The erotic interest in asphyxiation is classified as a paraphilia in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of the American Psychiatric Association. Psychiatrist Joseph Merlino stated that it meets the criteria for a disorder "because it has the potential for lethality or serious injury.

If it's how they're saying, then it's kind of like dying from having your head up a cows ass isn't it - you'd take a few shots of that and get 'em online without a second though to their families feelings.

I think the problem might've been he was trying to get hard..............
hmmm...apparently the same "secret society" that may have killed Bruce Lee also killed David Carradine.
food for the conspiracy nuts.
The New York Post reported Sunday that the attorney for David Carradine's family, Mark Geragos, suggested that the actor may have been killed as he tried to uncover groups working in the martial-arts underworld.
Geragos said the actor's family refuses to believe he died in a sadomasochistic sex stunt gone wrong. The lawyer appeared on Larry King Live Friday night to discuss the death.
On the show , responding to a statement about Carradine being "very interested in investigating and disclosing secret societies," Geragos answered "absolutely ... "what that means is [he is] connected to to martial arts and his interest in martial arts. And so there is a suspicion that if there was some foul play, that that may be the first area where they should look."
Carradine's naked body was discovered last Thursday morning in his luxury suite at Bangkok's Swissotel Nai Lert Park Hotel. Police initially suspected his death was a suicide, but have since said it may have been accidental suffocation or heart failure after revealing he was found with a rope tied around his wrist, neck and genitals.
On Saturday morning, a Bangkok tabloid published a blurry photo of Carradine’s body at the crime scene. TMZ reported on Sunday that a "new sharper image ... reveals what appears to be fishnet stockings covering the body. You can also see red women's lingerie on the bed. And, it appears, Carradine may have been wearing a dark wig."
Similar conspiracy theories swirled around the death of another Kung Fu icon thirty five years ago. Bruce Lee died at the age of 32 of brain swelling triggered by a reaction to medication. Suggestions that Lee was killed by a Chinese secret society has been associated with his death since 1973.
Director Quentin Tarantino, noted that the actor would appreciate the mystery around his death . Also appearing on Larry King Live Friday he said, "If the last chapter of his autobiography was 'The Mysterious Demise of David Carradine', that would be perfect."

Farrah Fawcett, whose stunning looks and blinding smile made her a pop icon of the 1970s, has died. She was 62. Her spokesman, Paul Bloch, says Fawcett died Thursday morning in a Santa Monica hospital. Her 2½-year battle with cancer was depicted in the TV documentary “Farrah’s Story.” TMZ.com is reporting that the actress' longtime companion, Ryan O'Neal, and Fawcett's friend, Alana Stewart, were with her at the time of her death.

All I know is that if a crime that heinous really happened and it only took money to keep it quiet then those parents should all be shot. I mean I know he turned into quite the weirdo over the last 15 years, and I think his fascination with children was perhaps a little inappropriate from what the media has shown us, but I have to say that some of the cases against him were probably "taking that and running with it".
Not saying what he did or didn't, just that a lot of times people can make one thing out of another and then it can kind've avalanche, and yeah, I think that if a person had as many finances available to them as MJ probably did at a point, paying people that are going to drag you through the mud and into court time and again might've been something of an easier option...guilty, or not.
For me, MJ was the "music I grew up with" being born in the early 80's.
Didn't much like his post mid-90's stuff, and yeah even if you don't look at the court cases and allegations against him he did become one weird character, and was the posterboy for "parental abuse case" more than likely what made him slowly turn into the creature he became.
Listening to his songs of old, I will feel a pang of remorse that the musical force beside them is no longer of this earth.

This is weirding me out a little since we were the same age. I still remember the first time I saw the Jackson Five on TV. I believe it was the Ed Sullivan Show, and being mezmerised (sp?) by Michael's voice and the choreography. Throughout the years I always enjoyed Michael's music. Thriller is still my favorite album of his and my favorite video of his (of course). In later years, he got very weird - I will never understand why he had to change his appearance, he was a handsome guy - but I still enjoyed his music.
Rest in peace, Michael. I hope you have the peace you were always looking for.

From what I read about his childhood, I think the emotional scars he received back then from his father's constant abuse never really healed, but only got worse with age. His eccentric behaviour and odd lifestyle might be attributed to that.
The man was a music genius, no question...and usually geniuses are somewhat eccentric. So that could be a reason too.
And then there were the cases of the broken nose and burning hair and vitiligo. So many factors which added to the complexity of his persona.

For the record I don't think he did those kids. False molestation accusations are not uncommon.
On a side note, why do the US fire departments have their own paramedics? El Wacko was taken to hospital in an LAFD ambulance, why not regular paramedics? Whats the deal with the crossover in the emergency services?
Firefighters are trained EMT's, it's very useful since they often have to deal with injured people during fires, and when there isn't a fire they can respond to ordinary medical emergencies.

I wouldn't say that. The coverage that his death is receiving and fan outpouring is from his music, not accusations and some of the silly things he's done. He'd have still been famous without the BS. That's the effect that the death of a celebrity has.
A few years ago, I bet half the people phoning in to radio shows mourning his death would have been quite happy to mock and laugh at him. Look at Jade Goody. Everyone hated her until she got cancer, then loads of people suddenly loved her:confused:
That isn't to say he did have a huge fan base. He had a hell of a lot of supporters at the trial and will always have those faithful to him. I just think it's helped people remember the old Michael, because they want to remember him in a good way because he's dead, and a lot of people don't agree with being cruel about the dead.

No one will ever know the real truth. Honestly, I don't care one way or the other.
I will say this though, if you hate someone while they are alive, why change because they died? Still the same person. I don't see the point of respecting someone you hate, just because they aren't there to hate.
Yes, it's a nice gesture to a family, when their loved one dies, to pull over while the funeral cars go by. But I don't see where it should be a law. If you didn't like that person, why should one be forced to respect them?

My band actually wrote a song about this guy...
RIP indeed.
I'd love to hear that song, by the way.

Funny story. I convinced my brother years ago that Billy Mays was dead. The guy was my brother's hero, and I though it would be funny to tell him Mays died. Needless to say, my little bro is a little confused today hearing the news.

RIP Sky Saxon :(
AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Sky Saxon, lead singer and founder of the 1960s band the "Seeds," who had a Top 40 hit in 1967 with "Pushin' Too Hard," has died after a brief illness.
Publicist Jen Marchand said Saxon died Thursday but did not have other details. He was in his 60s.
The Seeds sprang up in California, and their garage-band sound with Saxon's distinctive vocals became a favorite of the flower power generation. Another hit single of 1967 was "Can't Seem to Make You Mine" and their song "Mr. Farmer" was included in the soundtrack for the movie "Almost Famous."
The Mick Jagger-influenced vocals by Saxon (born Richard Marsh) dominated the sound and in turn influenced later punk rockers.
"All the bikers around San Diego thought the Seeds were apocalypse, then," famed rock critic Lester Bangs wrote in "The Rolling Stone Illustrated History of Rock & Roll." "I recall one hog-ridin' couple ... who didn't take the Seeds' first album off their turntable for three solid months."
Saxon had recently moved to Austin, where he played with his new band, Shapes Have Fangs.
He had been planning to perform this summer with the California '66 Revue, a tour featuring a lineup of California bands from the 1960s.
...this fuckin' sucks.

did you guys hear about MJ's autopsy results? I'm shocked, I never thought food poisoning could cause a heart attack, especially in a man who regularly ate 10 year old weiners. :D

R.I.P Drake Levin :(
Levin was lead guitarist in the '60s for Paul Revere & the Raiders but left to form his own bands and establish himself as a top blues player in the Bay Area.
Drake Levin, lead guitarist for Paul Revere & the Raiders during the quintet's hit-making prime in the mid-1960s, died Saturday at his home in San Francisco after a long battle with cancer, according to his longtime friend and former Raiders bandmate Phil Volk. He was 62.
Levin's four-year stint with the Raiders, known for its campy Revolutionary War uniforms, thigh-high black riding boots and tri-corner hats, coincided with a string of top 10 hits including "Kicks," "Hungry" and "Good Thing."
For a time he was one of the most recognizable American rock guitarists through the group's weekly appearances on the Dick Clark-produced music series "Where the Action Is."
The band's 1965 hit "Just Like Me," prominently featuring Levin's double-tracked lead guitar, is on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's list of "500 Songs That Shaped Rock and Roll."
"I've lost my dear friend, my Raider buddy, and the music world has lost a guitar icon," Volk said in a note posted on his website.
Drake Maxwell Levinshefski was born Aug. 17, 1946, in Chicago, and after his family moved to Boise, Idaho, he began to gain recognition as a musician with bassist Volk in the Surfers. Nebraska-born Revere also had moved to Boise, where he formed the first incarnation of the Raiders in the late 1950s. That edition of the group charted a top 40 single with "Like, Long Hair" in 1961, making it Boise's best-known rock band.
Revere invited the Surfers to open a Raiders show outside Boise in 1963, with Raiders drummer Mike "Smitty" Smith sitting in. This put the group on Revere's radar screen, and when his guitarist left, he offered the job to Levin. Volk soon followed him into the Raiders.
The group relocated to Portland, Ore., looking to build on its regional following. Revere and the Raiders recorded Richard Berry's "Louie Louie" a week before it was put on tape by another Portland band, the Kingsmen, whose version became the national hit and established it as one of the quintessential songs of what came to be known as "garage rock."
Levin's guitar work came to the fore in "Just Like Me," a gloriously sloppy number with a chord progression and overall sound similar to "Louie Louie" that reached No. 11 in early 1966.
Levin, Volk and Smith left the Raiders in 1967, leaving behind Revere and lead singer Mark Lindsay, and formed the Brotherhood. By the time the Raiders landed their only No. 1 hit, "Indian Reservation (The Lament of the Cherokee Reservation Indian)" in 1971, Levin was long gone.
Levin's prominence as a guitarist helped him land subsequent work playing with organist Lee Michaels, singer-songwriter Emitt Rhodes and others. After settling in the Bay Area, he became one of the region's top blues players and formed groups of his own, including Billy Dunn and Bluesway. He last played with his Raiders cohorts at a 1997 reunion in Portland that featured all the mid-'60s band members except Revere, who has continued touring with his own lineup.
Levin is survived by his wife of 37 years, Sandra; sons David and Darby; his mother, Charle; his brother Jeff and his sister Lori.
A memorial service is planned for July 18, but details have not been settled. When finalized, arrangements will be posted on Volk's website, philfangvolk.com.
