Im watching it now. I really think its one of the better nightmares. Freddy is still serious and not goofy and there are some really cool seens. Like the opening credits, the Big Snake Freddy, the mirrors shattering at the end. Good stuff. Any takers??

It's my second favourite after part 4. These are just the good old days of incamera effects. Phillip's death (the puppet) is one of my favourite ever - just love how you see the drops of blood first.

Ever wonderd what happened to the nurse with the freddy face that attacks Joey? I hate when you see stills from it and it's not in the movie.

I liked the fact that Nancy dies too. It was quite touching actually when Patricia Arquette holds her while she dies.

Love the mirrors too and I can't believe someone had to put their hand up that dead pig!!!

I like the taps that turn into the claw too and how PA faints - it's all good!

Only crap part is when she's supposedly carrying the little girl at the begining and it's obviously just a doll!!!

As a kid I was always influenced by the opening credits - if I wanted to stay up late watching a movie or something I would just get a can of Coke and coffee granuals. It worked very well.

I too think it is one of the better Nightmare movies, and I especially like it when Nancy dies :p
But the whole idea of being able to influence your dreams is great, and the fact that even though they are able to do that, Freddy is still the stronger part. It all works together.
Well I think all the Nightmare films a great except Wes Cravens New Nightmare. He should have seen that one coming

I don't like it as much as I used to.

It used to always be on TV and I think it's the most overplayed next to Dreamchild. But since I have the boxset, I don't have to rely on TV anymore.;)

I think this is the same one where we meet Kristen right?

I don't think Heather would of had it any other way though.

I know this aint Dream Warriors, but in New Nightmare, why did Wes want Heather in the "film" that he was shooting in the movie? I mean, did Heather, a.k.a. Nancy, die in nightmare 3? Why Wes? Why?

My favorites were the first and NN, those are the only ones that should be a part of the series, everything in between is well, garbage IMO.

FD was by FAR the worst one! Bloody women directors...J/K!! :D They really shouldn't of given it to Rachel but there ya go. But FD was the first one I saw on the big screen and I still have the 3D glasses yet it still doesn't hold any dear place in my heart as it's kinda lame!

The Freddy in pt.1 woulda annihilated the demon in New Nightmare.

i liked it a lot. it was creative in that the special powers the kids had, and the way freddy used their fears against them. i think freddy was evil and had a really good macabre sense of humour in this one, in the way he taunted that crippled d&d playing guy for eg.. freddy showed how cruelly he could mess around with ppl.

1 & 3 are the best of the anoes series. 3 is an awesome and inventive and fun movie. and it brings back nancy of course! 4 is the farthest i would go in that series-5 and any thing after was WRETCHED and HORRIBLE! just my opinion.

I dont think anyone would argue that freddy from pt.1 would annihilate ANY other freddy.

Dream Warriors is my favorite, and the one that introduced me to the Nightmare series.

Then it's the first one and then Freddy's Revenge. Even though every one says it's the worst and/or gay sequel in the series it had some good scenes, like when Jesse screams you can see Freddy looking out of his mouth.

The rest seemed like camp and the New Nightmare, which was supposed to bring the series back to being scary, was one of the worst. The premise was good (new glove, new look, what if Freddy was real) but just didn't translate well IMO.

just outta curiousity and i know they hit upon this in some of the interviews on the NOES encyclopedia but do you think there was supposed to be S&M type story to NOES 2

haven't seen those interviews so can't comment on them, my opinion is that they initially deceided that the main character was going to male this time which lead to some homosexuality themes appearing in the film. whether it was the time or just the thinking of the writers but they jumped thinking to s&m clubs (maybe their thinking was that this would be where homosexuals would go).

in my opinion, this is the worst of the series

Yeah DREAM WARRIORS tends to be dismissed out of hand with the rest of the sequels, but they really only started to get contemptuous from 4 onwards once Freddy was a cult anti-hero.

The first three ELM STREETs are top - what about that homosexual/masochistic bit in part 2? Now we didn't see that coming - definately the darkest instalment.

I too was glad when "the Wizard kid got it", though.

I can't make up my mind between Dream Warriors and Dream Master. Dream Child also uses the same formula but it doesn't work as well + the sound is really shitty, even on DVd.

That "homosexual/masochistic bit" in part 2 actually lasts the whole movie. What bothers me is that part 2's story could've started a new franchise as it had very little to do with the original. NOES was brilliant especially because it dealt with dreams the way no movie had before.

It would've been better left alone. There are too many gay subtones in that movie to give the original justice. I could've enjoyed having a gay hero for a change, but in this movie everybody sounds, looks and acts gay : Jesse, coach Schneider, Grady, even Freddy. It is an ok stand alone movie, but a very bad sequel.

The Puppet-tendons scene is fucking killer! I fucking loved that scene! I agree, although I have nothing against the other films, this one just seems to be better then the others to me. He stayed serious and dark, but had lots of apperances, and good kill scenes. And he had just enough humor, not to much, but just enough. Not that I don't like the humor in the rest of the films, he is the best, but I think they kinda over did it. I don't really see anything bad with the humor though. I don't know why some others do. If I was ever a demon who could invade dreams and kill people, I would be making witty comments. Not all though it but, like the 'this is God' from the first Nightmare. And the 'fresh meat' line. I don't think he put all that humor in his films. Just that because theres a little humor in every film it seems to trick people to think theres more then it really is. But thats just what I think. The only will setback I see in the films is that after it got to around Nightmare 3 or 4 they ran out of new secrets to show about Freddy. I mean, in the first nightmare they kept his face hidden alot. An didn't show his bald head that much. But in the second it shows more of his face and reveils more about him. And then the rest. Nightmare 3 is the first film to really show his face good and still keep him dark.

And Arioch I'm glad you remember ALL of the quote. Most just remember 'primetime'.

"This is it Jennifer. Your big break in T.V.. Welcome to Prime Time bitch!

And Nefarious I agree with New Nightmare. I didn't think the new burnt skin ever looked like it was really burnt. It looked more like pieces were pealed off. And that new glove was cool, but I liked the old one so much more. Guess he got tired of having his own weapon used against him. :p But I liked how he made Freddy seem 'real'. But I hated that they brought Heather back. Well, I love her, I don't think anyone could've played in the film better (besides Robert). But I hate that he wanted her back in his new 'film' that he was making in the film. I mean, Heather died in Nightmare 3. Why bring her back? And how? But since I know the movie in the movie was the same as the movie itself, with Freddy coming in the real world, I can understand it. I think Wes did a great job on that whole concept. And it was great acting. Though I think Dillions 'Freddy voice' was real stupid. He didn't do it well at all. And the whole 'claw' act he did was kinda cool, but didn't make all that sense. But thats IMO.

Dream Warriors is one of my favorite freddy movies ... its right up there with the first. Every death in this one was fantastic and unique ... definately one of the best ... if not the best
