I am looking for some good recs in this. And no, I dont mean Re-Animator, Frankenstein type flicks.
So far, Coma has been a well-loved fav of mine. And the German thrillers - Anatomy and Anatomy 2.
The new X-Files flick can be categorised in this section, but it does not exactly fit the bill here.
Awake was disappointing.
Outbreak, Gattaca, 12 Monkeys are pretty good, though they dont fit the bill either.
Any others out there?

Ahh yes, The Dentist flicks too.
Another one which I am reminded of is The Terminal Man. Hmm...any others in the same vein?

Unrest (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0453533/) (2006) wasn't too bad. Not perfect, but a decent little indie horror flick.
There's Sublime (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0822858/) (2007), which was pretty mediocre and preachy, but I think might appeal to some.

There was a TV series you can buy on DVD called Stephen King's Kingdom Hospital about a dark, creepy hospital with some startling goings-on. I w atched most of it and it's solid entertainment.
**Wow. You can buy the complete series for $24. http://www.amazon.com/Stephen-King-Presents-Kingdom-Hospital/dp/B00000F3SB/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1230577796&sr=8-1

I actually really want to see this, though I've been skeptical. Good to read positive feedback. I'll have to check it out.
SPEAKING of creepy hospital television shows, my boyfriend discovered Riget ("The Kingdom") (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0108906/), a Danish X-Files-ish medical oddities/thriller show. We just added it to our Netflix queue. Haven't watched it yet, but it sounds ridiculously good.

"Medical thrillers"... I think of Coma, Outbreak, Contagion, War World Z, The Andromeda Strain, The Last Man on Earth, The Omega Man and the first Resident Evil.
The better ones of those would be: The Andromeda Strain and Resident Evil. I seem to remember liking Coma quite a bit... but I only saw it once on TV. I enjoyed WWZ and Last Man on Earth, but Outbreak and Contagion were fairly average.

The Dentist?
I ranted and raved about this one the last time I was under nerve gas at a dentist office.... they didn't take too kindly to it.

"Coma." But casting Richard Widmark as the doctor was like hanging a sign on him, "I am the bad guy."
Oops, spoiler.

In Scream and Scream Again, this guy keeps waking up in the hospital with another limb missing.
"Where's the rest of me?" (Famous Ronald Reagan line.)

Don't go to a dentist who keeps quoting lines from Marathon Man.
"Is it safe?"

That movie made me think: Why is it that after we began to have rockets going into space, all kinds of bad things started coming to us out of space? Either brought back accidentally, like The Quatermass Experiment, or just got here on it's own, like The Blob.
That movie taught me a lesson: If a meteorite falls in your back yard and it is oozing slime, don't go near it. Cover it up with an upside down trash can and call the bomb squad.
I mean, meteorites have been hitting the ground since forever, and dust is always drifting into our atmosphere from space. It's not like the planet Earth has a wall around it. But there no monsters hitching a ride to Earth on meteorites.
I just thought of a great old movie! "20 million miles to Earth." Great special effects by Ray Harryhausen.
