I've been really getting into some films by Lucio Fulci and would like to check out some other Italian movie makers, perhaps something by Argento, Mario or Lamerto Bava or other.

Please recommend some good noteworthy titles to check out.

Thanks in advance.:)

ok, here goes.

Nights of Terror - Andrea Bianchi
Etruscan Zombies, bad acting, awful synth score, incestuous midget.

Suspiria - Dario Argento
IMHO Argentos' best. Girl goes to dance academy in Germany and discovers, after deaths and other strange happenings, that a witches coven is involved.

Demons - Lamberto Bava
A cinema screening causes audience members to transform into Demons and go on the rampage.

Dellamorte Dellamore (Cemetery Man) - Michele Soavi
One of the best Italian horror movies made. A cemetery groundskeeper has to keep the living dead at bay nightly.

Cannibal Holocaust - Ruggero Deodato
Definitely an acquired taste, very brutal and unflinching but really makes you think. Essentially a 'critique' of mondo movies, or so Deodato claims, but I suspect he was more interested in exploitation.

Mario Bava

Black Sunday
Black Sabbath
Blood and Black Lace
The Whip And The Body
Kill Baby...Kill!
A Bay of Blood aka Twitch of the Death Nerve
Baron Blood

Lamberto Bava

Demons
Demons 2
A Blade In The Dark
Rabid Dogs aka Kidnapped

Argento

Deep Red
Phenomena
Tenebre
Inferno
Opera
The Bird With The Crystal Plumage
Mother of Tears
The Stendhal Syndrome
Cat O'Nine Tails

That should be a good enough starter list for Italian gialli/horror.

Cat O' Nine Tails and Stendhal Syndrome are both sorta weak, I think.
