Greatest Gore Scene in a Horror (or Action) Movie.

The greatest gore scene in a horror movie (anything from "Saving Private Ryan" doesn't count, because obviously that can't be beat with Speilberg's budget) would have to be the exploding head in William Lustig and Joe Spinell's "Maniac". Tom Savinni (who's head that was, by the way) was a true artist with gore effects. That movie defines a "true" horror movie. And that scene even 25 years later is absolutely beautiful.

Some guy lost his head to a cannonball in "Glory"....not all that gorey but effective enough...

I gotta mention this asian film I caught the last 15 minutes of on tv....have no idea what it's called, but some mental bitch shoved acupuncture needles into guys eyeballs, and proceeds to cut his feet off at the ankles by sawing them off with some razor-wire.

I found the UNCUT bug-removal scene in universal soldier kinda hard to watch....that reminds me, also the UNCUT eye-removal scene in The Terminator...

As a kid, Freddy cutting his guts open in NOES 1 freaked me out a little...

The body on the table in "wrong turn"....also the Half-capitation, and the barbwire around the mouth thang.

"Scanners" exploding head scene was done quite well. And the splintered wood through the eye scene in "Zombie" was another one that made me wince. And how can ya top the last half hour of "Dead-Alive".

As a kid i would say the head crushing scene in Toxic Avenger. After seeing the kid dragging himself away from the car then the quick cut to the crush I still wince, even after I read Kauffmans book and knowing how cheaply it was done

I found the uncut Robocop hard to watch but I was eating at the time. Most things by Tom Savini is excellent and nice and bloody.
