SPOILERISH QUOTE BELOW
"The film also ends on a much darker tone than the original, something that seems to actually work for this movie. If this version is similar to one being released next month you might want to stay during the ending credits to see what I mean. "

I'll go see anything at a theater with zombies in it.
Movies based on video games don't count.

What's wrong with the ones based on games? I liked that one......
I agree though, if it has dead people walking, i'm there

I was traumatized by the Super Mario Brothers movie and am unable to see any movie based on a video game.
Thank god the Super Ms. Pac Man movie never was released.

super mario is okay, but House of the Dead sucks ass! Resident Evil is mdeiocre at best. I think Dawn of the Dead will be awesome though. I love the original, its one of my favorite horror movies all time.
First, i agree that most video games should not be made into movies, but Super Mario Bros. thats a classic!!!! But enough about that. Dawn of the Dead does have alot to live up to. i hold the original in high regard and greatly believe that it is the greatest zombie film ever made.

a poster, krinkle, on ain't it cool news talkback had this to say:
saw it last night at CityWalk... It's pretty bad...
No-one who has ever seen the original Romero masterpiece will have anything good to say about this one: Its basically a dumbed-down kiddie version. And what's more, while the original "Dawn" was subtly critical of the consumer culture... this 'Dawn' is nothing but supportive of it... In fact, we have here a "Dawn Of The Dead" that is made to PLAY in the mall! Its odd to think that in 70s and 80s, we had these film-school filmmakers coming along and doing these more sophisticated versions of pictures like "The Fly," "The Thing," and "Invasion Of The Body Snatchers"... They made more interesting movies for a more interesting era, and no-one would deny that the remakes of those films are (in many way) superior to the original. BUT NOW we've cycled back around to a more conservative era again, and we're getting LESS interesting versions of 70's and 80's horror movies ("Texas Chainsaw" and "Dawn Of The Dead")... I told you this culture was in decline...
mm i suspect it's shit

Who the hell cares what someone else says about a movie? See it for yourself and if you like it then cool, but if you don't then to each his own. I, for one, can't wait to see "Dawn of the Dead".

People are really talking this up. I heard one guy from 8bm.com say that he reckons it's gonna be an huge improvement on the original. I just hope it doesn't fall down in a pile of cheese like a lot of horror recently, although if SaF is right... I'm really worried about the future of horror.

This movie has a few things going for it, and it's an effects film so we don't have to worry about it being cgi. I can't wait to see this. if Tcm was good then we need to give this movie a chance.:)

well if the 'someone else' in question calls the movie a 'dumbed-down kiddie flick' then it might be worth your brain's attention. i mean, if you don't care what other people think about movies, why you on a horror board? ;)

I just picked up the original 'Night of the Living Dead' on DVD for the surprisingly low amount of £2... LOL. Then I watched it followed by the remake. No contest. Original wins out. But I gotta say I'm lookin forward to seeing what Hollywood has done with Dawn. 2 or 3 weeks and counting I do believe.

Arrow has a review up on his web site. He's reviews are usually right on target. Also pretty humorous.

We saw Dawn of the Dead tonight and we thoroughly enjoyed the film. The soundtrack was awesome and it totally went along with the movie. It was funny and gruesome and an overall enjoyable movie. It was worth seeing in the theater, which is hard to find these days.

I saw it tonight...a lot more than I expected. And I enjoyed it ALOT more than 28 days later.
and the music was very good...the intro with that Johnny Cash song and thoes news reports...wow, that got me.
I still like the Original better...hmm. But I enjoyed the fuck out of this movie too.

loved the movie, just disappointed there wasnt any hardcore zombie action like the dead alive. DAWN OF THE DEAD was wicked good, loved the music too, especially the different version of "sickness". wicked good
