For those of you who don't know, Seattle has been getting dumped on way more than the city is used to. It's nothing compared to what I used to see in the midwest, but Seattle, being built on hills and not being used to it, has gone berserk.
I haven't been able to get to work. We're expecting windstorms tonight, along with freezing rain.
None of this is the point, though. Thursday morning at around 5:30am I witnessed something I may never see again in my life. It was snowing hard, and there was lightning and thunder. It was one of the most beautiful things I had ever witnessed, and I hope other people get to see it at least once in their life. Amazing what mother nature can do when she feels like it.

Yep. I hate winter in New England. My mom has been without power for over a WEEK now (since the 11th). She's been crashing in our tiny apartment and now we have a good four inches on the ground with another six expected before Monday. Awesome.

I haven't had my heat on for 2 days now, wore a short sleeved shirt on my errands today.
The temp hit around 71 degrees.
No reason for telling all you people who are cold now.
No reason at all.

It snowed all day here in Minneapolis. Now the wind has picked up and the temp is plummeting. We're supposed to have -30 wind chill tomorrow. Brrrrrrr.
Beautiful lightning Flayed! I've seen flashes of lightning during snowstorms before, even colored flashes, but never bolts like that.

Oh yeah, in Los Angeles we had, um, rain last week, lots of rain, now it is sunny and warmer but kinda cold at night, not as bad as it was when it was raining--it was really cold and you could see snow in the low mountains around here--lower than it usually goes--and of course the nearby counties, the higher desert areas and so forth, had lots of snow.
And then they say there's gonna be rain Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, possibly. Which is unique, for here!
Keep warm, folks!
piles of snow here in NY - normal operating winter procedure

Don't be too sad. I had to be outside at 5:20am to catch it on my way to Bellevue.

30 degrees with a windchill of like 15 today.
Freaky weather.
I got my ear blasted this morning doing the recycling ...and it still hurts.
I will duly take your suggestion from now on, Chrono:D

I don't mind the weather at all. Sure, the road conditions suck, and i am getting a little tired of my floor being wet from all the snow dragged in by the dogs, but its nice to have snow for Christmas.
I love extreme weather. it pushes society to its limits and shows how unprepared we are for the kinds of things that are likely to happen every year, but never seem to be [prepared for.

I forget where you are in NH... Did you guys lose power? My friend in Peterborough was completely out of power and was melting snow to dump down the toilet to flush it.

I love snow.
It reminds me of growing up in South Dakota and winters were absolutely insane. Of course, I was a kid so I didn't have to worry about shoveling or driving or missing work. I just got to play all day and miss school.
Definitely getting it this year!
I didn't see the lightning, but right now the cars behind our apartment are covered in about 2 feet of snow :D
If it's like this on Friday, Flayed, we ain't doing shit! lol.

it's so cold here my water pipes are frozen, probably even busted because I heard water running under ground outside. So I have no water at all. I live in a trailer so if that's the case I will probably have to move because I don't think they would fix it if it's only me.

Yeah I heard. It's also been snowing in awkward places like Las Vegas, A few parts of Texas, and I've even heard some places in Louisiana and Alabama last week. Recently New England got blasted two times in a row following their power outages from their ice blast. A few BGE volunteers from Maryland went there to help people in that area get their power back. As for the mid atlantic part of the Northeast (lower portions of NY, PA, DE, and MD) some parts have seen snow but very little in comparison to what other states have had.
I know this week Maryland had a Winter Wind Advisory--we're snowless but winter has definitely been doing its part with low temperatures and bitter cold. I think yesterday the temperature was 15, with a feel of -20 in some parts of the state.
