I'm after some dvds with reasonable storylines for a holiday break comming up. So far I've got a small list:
Double Vision
Ghost System
Audition
The Eye
Battle Royale
If anyones seen these, would they be worth watching and could you recommend any others.
Cheers

Battle Royale is a winner and so is Audition. BR is not quite horror but creates a great situation and is pretty gory too. Audition can be tough to watch. I know die-hard horror fans who left the theater before it was over.
I know a lot of people who loved the Eye but it didn't end up working for me. It did have a few creepy moments.

Thats the sort of stuff I'm after... films that make you wish you had'nt pluged in the dvd player. :)

Okay then...
Cannibal Holocaust- didn't bother me too much but lots of people can't take it.
The Story of Ricky aka Ricky-O - not horror but absurdly gory.
Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer
Evil Dead Trap
Dark Water - not gory but I thought it was very scary.
Enjoy, and don't forget the Robitussin for when you can't sleep.

Battle Royale is great --- good gory fun.
Audition is very disturbing. Takashi Miike's direction reminds me very much of David Lynch in this one, though taking a step further in the gore department. I HIGHLY recommend it!

Battle Royale isn't officially available in the US yet but there are a lot of video stores that have it on VCD.
I never would have thought of David Lynch and Audition, Dreaming Girl, but you are right... there's this whole Lynchian thing of things just not being quite right... and then Boom, everything is insane. I read that Miike's new film Zebraman is appropriate for the whole family. That seems wrong.
While we are talking about Takashi Miike don't forget to check out Ichi the Killer.

If you liked Audition, try Vistor Q or Ishii the Killer. Their both Japanese movies and made by the same guy.
