Barry Sonnenfeld will direct and produce action comedy "The How-To Guide for Saving the World" from BenDavid Grabinski's script.
Story's centered on an instruction manual for saving the world left behind by a secret group that protects the Earth from alien invaders but is wiped out.
"Unfortunately, a non-action-hero guy not unlike me, in terms of manliness, and a woman who hates him find the book and have to save the planet from an impending attack," Sonnenfeld said.
The project reunites Sonnenfeld with MGM/UA more than a decade after he directed "Get Shorty."
Helming credits include both "Men in Black" and "Addams Family" pics, while Sonnenfeld's most recent feature producing gig was "Enchanted." He's also an exec producer and director on "Pushing Daisies" and signed a one-year exclusive pact with Sony Pictures TV in July.
