Man kills himself over death of pet fish
A 23-year-old Malaysian man hanged himself following the deaths of his three prized flowerhorn fish, a report said on Tuesday.
Ching Kin Fei's body was found at home by his grandparents on Monday after they returned from work, the Star said.
His grandmother, Chiu Chee Yin (74) said Ching had not been his usual self ever since his three pets died days earlier.
She said he had confided he was depressed and heartbroken over the death of his fish.
"Ching loved the fish very much and spent a lot of time caring for them over the past one year," Chiu was quoted as saying.
"Ever since the fish died, he kept to himself and seldom ate of talked much."
The flowerhorn is an odd-looking fish with a hump on its forehead and patterns on its body resembling Chinese letters. Keeping the fish is popular in Malaysia and other parts of Asia, with some believing they can bring wealth and good luck.
