how does an indie horror filmmaker get started?

i have been toiling with the idea of maybe someday in my life becoming an indie horror filmmaker. i was wondering where one begins. where should one start?

First you have to come up with an idea. You can come up with something that has never been done before or you can always just make a wood's movie. Kid's getting slaughtered in the wood's NEVER gets old unless Hollywood had something to do with it. I suggest you make it look like it was made in the 80's but what do I know? Well, anyway yeah! get an idea...make a script....get money unless your not going to have a budget...get actors....make the movies edit it and promote it show it and if they like it put it on dvd and sell them. That's how I do it.

One more thing..You can pass out some free ones and people will tell people aout it...Word of mouth...works great to promote....
