Len Wiseman, who is also set to direct the Gears of War movie, has signed on to helm an adaptation of the comic Atlantis Rising for DreamWorks.
According to Variety, the apocalyptic five-part miniseries, created by Scott Mitchell Rosenberg and published by Platinum Studios, revolves around an underground civilization that wages war against the rest of the earth.
Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, who were heavily involved in Transformers, are producing the project for DreamWorks.
"No sea horses or tridents here," Kurtzman told The Hollywood Reporter. "The comic brings a fresh, techno-thriller approach to a story that holds all the tenets of a classic us-versus-them alien invasion."
Besides the forthcoming Gears of War (not set to hit screens until at least 2010) Wiseman also directed the Underworld series and Live Free or Die Hard.
