How did things go in Mombai? Was all your family okay?
It was a nightmarish experience. All the time we were on our way to Mumbai, we were worried sick about them (my cousin's family). I am so glad international flights weren't shut off, or my cousin wouldnt have got here when he could. He still caught a flight to Delhi, thinking Mumbai was shut off. They live in the north part so that was quite some distance away from all what was happening, but still the thought of being in the same city where terrorists ran rampant 4-5 days back was really alarming.
Anyway, they heard about the shooting and explosions and had locked themselves in. Schools were out for the duration so cousin's little children were safe...I must admit his wife was very brave in dealing with the situation. They are at her mother's now, for a "vacation" of sorts for a week, after which they ll be returning back. Things have been going back to normal slowly over there.
Dear V,
are you familiar with freemasons?
if so, i wanted to know what are your thoughts about the New World Order?
I am.
And I dont believe in the New Age Illuminati. They may continue to exist, but bringing about a NWO is darn near impossible, especially in today's regional and racially-dominated society. A universal religion easily accepted? No chance.
Dear V, where did you purchase your ego? Was it in India?
I was born with it. Well, most of it anyway.
Dear V,
I missed you. I'm glad you're back.
Thanks, my dear. We will get to the bra sizes later. :)
Dear V,
This forum is like Wheel of Fortune without Pat Sajak. Do you promise to never leave again?
Can't promise that. But yeah, I am here to serve and fulfilling all your HDC wishes. Sort of like a modern-day Net genie.
Where do you live?
I posted a map in the Mumbai thread, if you checked. Its a city in central India called Jagdalpur, right in the heart of a state called Chhattisgarh.
Why don't they do masala dosa in Northern India?
Because northern (and for the most part all of India, except southern) have their own traditional dishes. Dosa is not popular everywhere, especially in big cities of the North.
Dear V. Have you been gone??
Yes, havent you noticed? Tsk tsk.
Dear V
What's this thing on my neck?
And why is it getting bigger?
Its called a pain. And it can grow only bigger and bigger, till you decide to chop it off. But remember, the head goes with it too.
Dear V,
What is the meaning of life?
Happiness and contentment. To seek happiness in all the smaller moments of life, and contentment in all that you do. A person's life, however short it might be, is fulfilling if he closes his eyes at the end of the day in complete peace, and with a smile on his lips.
Dear V,
How many lick's does it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop?
One large lick oughta do it. But for that you have to have the tongue of a Tasmanian devil.
Dear V,
Aren't you glad you started this thread? :D
Well, I am past the point of having second thoughts now anyway.

---------------------------------------------------------------
Dear __V__, how do you find the time to do all of these projects on HDC?

Dear __V__, What are your opinions on the V for Vendetta film?
Basically. The name "Masala dosa" comes from the times when they made em and stuffed it with all sorts of spicy ingredients, to make it yummy as heck (like pizzas). These days they dont bother, its just a paste of mashed potatoes and lots of onions.
My favorite is chicken. I love it when its made in thick gravy. A gravy of onions, garlic, ginger, and spices. But this isnt the cooking thread.
I utilise my time as much as I can. Time Management is very important - heck its a subject of study in Management schools today. You will learn that too, my young English whippersnapper.
Its a wonderful movie. One of the best, if not the best, hard-hitting movies to have come in the past 15 years. The book was exceptional, and the movie went one notch above. And I absolutely adore its soundtrack.

You are doing a great job by backing your family up, Stubbs. But I would ask you to cease doing one thing out of all those listed above - lending money out to relatives. More often than not they end up being complete assholes and that never ever comes back.
There's no better way to get replenished and refreshed than a nice, long vacation. I would suggest a place pretty scenic and quiet, and a good couple weeks. Does wonders to recharge the batteries and when you return back, you are as good as new, and ready to hit the world again.
Dear V,

Thats the link to the HDC "bomb shelter" forum, which was created in case horror pulls the plug off the forums at anytime. It is a place for all those HDC members who would want to keep in touch if/when any such thing happens, and is open to all people in HDC.
So you're saying I would be denied then? Hmmm???
Hey V, howcum whenever I see a bird feather fallin' outta the sky, I look up, and never see a bird?
No member of HDC will be denied entry into the bomb shelter. It is for HDC, as the mono says.
Thats because birds rarely hang around after they are done shaking their tailfeathers. One shake, one oomph and swish...they are off. All thats left of their shaking "caboose" is a single feather...which slowly falls towards the ground.

Dear V,
The guy that I work for is nice to everyone's face (although not overly friendly) but he sends out these scathing emails when something is done incorrectly, although never really tells us what we should be doing, and obviously there's some confusion or we wouldn't be doing it incorrectly. He also just gave everyone their reviews (I'm a contractor, so I didn't have to get one from him) and he basically made everyone feel like shit about themselves.
Do you think he's actually a nice guy, just doesn't know how to communicate well, especially in the written word? Or do you think he's probably really an asshole and is only nice to our faces cuz he's afraid to show his true colors face to face?
Edit: I guess I should add that I must be doing something right, cuz they keep extending my contract. It's just really hard to work for a person like that.

Obviously the guy's a perfectionist, but lacking in proper management skills. In order to get the best out of the team, the leader has to keep his "door open", so to speak...so that communication is to and fro between the team leader and the team members, and also to show the team members that they are accessible to the leader whenever they need him.
Of course he must be under a lot of pressure himself to maintain deadlines and costs, so careful planning must be his priority most of the time. If those arent met, he is liable to blow his top...overt pressure and continuous tension can do that, even to the most level-headed of men.
I have a hunch he is a nice guy, but working under some strain and to meet pre-planned and announced schedules. Look at him as a person who is working under "someone else's thumb", and you might change your views about him.

As a fellow mate in the world of huge corporations, I think you could provide some insight for me. I know how to play the corporate game, or I would have never moved up and survived like I've done. Do you think there's a finely drawn line between being able to conform to your job without losing yourself and becoming a tool?

You have no way of knowing that unless you got a pair of microscopes as eyes. And I hate snow - makes my bones ache with the chill.

Corporate honchos can tie you around their fingers and puppetise you as much as they can, once they get the whiff that you are willing to conform for stepping higher in the managerial ladder. You have to be very careful in treading between the fine lines of conforming to their interests and standards as well as maintaining your dignity and say in several matters. Remember, the more higher you go, the more exposure you will get. One piece of advice - always be willing to put forth your opinions on certain matters, once you get a step up. They may not like it, but that way you can ensure to show them that you have an opinion independent from them, too.

Dear __V__,
For some reason, people lie to me and think I'm none the wiser about it. Some sincerity would be nice. But I can't help but wonder if it's I who inspire the blatant lying and dishonesty about their intentions, or if they're just so insecure and desperate for attention, that they need the facade in order to be accepted. Should I be understanding? How can I tell what's real and what's not?
XOXO,

Dear V
I have this crush on a male member who just required a position of power in the forum and I think he's really hot and fantasize all kinds of sick sexual stuff late at night while alone.....
LOL
JK:D
but....actually, where are all my kisses??:( Why don't I get any kisses goddammit?
For real:
Did you know half the stuff you said happened in your country was not even broadcast over here?
They really downsized how big it was on the regular news channels. I was listening to a first person account get cut off mid-sentence when he was trying to explain what was happening in front of him!
My soon to be ex said it was because India feared what the news would do to their stock market...
Crazy shit.
Is any of this connected to Greece or the recent subway bombings in Asia??

Anyone who lies to you is/will be never sincere about their intentions in any sort of relationship you have with em - whether it be friendship, love, blood relations etc. Dont blame yourself for anything. Its in a person's nature to be what he/she is, and in today's world, hypocrisy, fakers and liars run rampant. I have seen more than one example of that in my life myself, and I can tell you, you are better off staying away from someone who constantly lies to you about anything and everything, even if that turns out to be your hubby or your bf. No question of being understanding there.
Unfortunately, being a human has its disadvantages. You can never tell a person's nature by the first impressions they convey. Many a time, a meany would actually turn out to be a good person, while a real sympathiser would turn out to be a wolf in disguise. The best you can do - trust the other person to not fuck up the relation you started with him/her, because you will be honest from your side. And IF that actually happens, give them one chance to explain themselves. If they cant, or they do it again, move on.
It applies the same to your relations over the Net, or your real life.

That will always be the case with realpolitik as long as we have governments who are more concerned about saving their economic asses than portray the real picture. The stock market has always been going through its ups and downs, regardless of the Mumbai situation. In fact, before this incident of terrorism, the stock market has been crashing for the past six months to losing well over 12000 points!
I think it has more to do with "picking up the pieces", more than anything. None of it is connected to Greece. If the subway bombings were done by the ISI-trained LeT terrorists, then thats the connection US Intelligence and Indian counterparts have made. Ergo the warnings US has issued to Pakistan to clamp down on terrorism and co-operate with India in the anti-terrorist drive. However, Pakistan has refused some demands from India (like handing over the top guns of LeT, and Dawood Ibrahim) so the tensions between the two countries stands escalated right now. The US has been issuing plenty of warnings to Pakistan, but looks like they are not heeding it. I fear the next step if this continues...a war.

Dear __________V_________
NZ did get the full coverage of what happened in your country
and yes..it was some scary shit alright.
Its good to see that you and your family are ok.
Now my next question.
My yahoo is gone..this is the only way I can stay in touch with the love of my
life online..besides ph calls that is.
My trillian sux and now em trying to get help to reinstall ventrillo.
Em seriously running out of options here.
The only time I feel alive is when we are together online as I cannot be
there with him personally.
Hearing his voice and they way he laughs..is like a poet composing a new
song..
The damn stupidest thing is..
I know computers..I can actually build one from scratch
and yet em stuffed when it comes to finding conversational tools ..online.
