I live in Gloucester.

Fred and Rosemary West lived up the road.

Their house was pulled down and it's dead creepy walking through the empty lot at night.

My friend's boyfriend lived next door to them.

One of the surviving daughters works in local supermarket.

My friends dad laid the concrete at the the West's house that covered up the bodies.

My other friends dad was Fred's co-worker.

Another friend's dad was a policeman who investigated it all.

My friends college friend is on the news reports in the background!

It's weird. Don't know how many Americans know about the Wests. It's strange to stop and think about it.

Austin TX hosted Charles Whitman, former Eagle Scout and excellent marksman. In 1966 he went to the top of the 300-foot tower at the University of Texas with a high-powered rifle and picked people off for 96 minutes, killing 14 and injuring dozens more.

Austin is in Travis County, where there are no records of chainsaw-wielding serial-killing cannibal inbreds named Hewitt.

The Ballad of Charles Whitman
(Kinky Friedman)

He was sitting up there for more than an hour,
Way up there on the Texas Tower
Shooting from the twenty-seventh floor. Yahoo!
He didn’t choke or slash or slit them,
Not our Charles Joseph Whitman,
He won’t be an architect no more.

Got up that morning calm and cool,
He picked up his guns and walked to school.
All the while he smiled so sweetly
And it blew their minds completely,
They’d never seen an Eagle Scout so cruel.

Now won’t you think for the shame and degradation
For the school’s administration
He put on such a bold and brassy show.
The chance looked right, it’s adolescent
And of course it’s most unpleasant
But I got to admit it was a lovely way to go.

There was a rumor about a tumor
Nestled at the base of his brain.
He was sitting up there with his .36 Magnum
Laughing wildly as he bagged ’em.
Who are we to say the boy’s insane ?

Now Charlie was awful disappointed
Else he thought he was anointed
To do a deed so lowdown and so mean.
The students looked up from their classes
Had to stop and rub their glasses,
Who’d believe he’d once been a Marine.

Now Charlie made the honor roll with ease,
Most all of his grades was A’s and B’s.
A real rip snorting trigger squeezer
Charlie proved a big crowd pleaser
Though he had been known to make a couple C’s.

Some were dying, some were weeping,
Some were studying, some were sleeping,
Some were shouting “Texas # 1!”
Some were running, some were falling,
Some were screaming, some were balling,
Some thought the revolution had begun.

The doctors tore his poor brain down,

I watched some documentaries on those freaks a few months back. Serial killers really get me interested. That's some pretty cool shit there.

Down the road from where I used to live some guy killed someone or something and put the body parts in a suitcase and chucked it in the river. The police peeled off the wallpaper and found blood staining the walls all over. The head's never been found.

Sounds far fetched but it is true, not just a village rumour.

I find the whole serial killer thing interesting too. Wish there were more serial killer movies that were actually decent. Heard good things about the new Bundy one but still not sure. I just don't understand how people can kill one person, let alone a whole bunch! Very interesting.

Yea, I wish I had Sky so I could watch the Documentary channel for the docus.

Did you see the one on channel four about the Camden Ripper? I quite like seeing CCTV footage and so forth of the guys because they're pretty ordinary but when you know what they're doing/have done it becomes something else.

I missed that one, I have SKY but don't get much chance to watch anything! Always hear about things after they aired! There should be a true Crime channel! They show a lot of stuff on the history channels and the biography channels sometimes about the older more famous cases but I live with someone who just watched soaps and rubbish and I have to be diplomatic and keep my mouth shut!!!

My dad was a spitting image of the police sketch of the Zodiac killer back in the day. I think it's part of the reason he started wearing facial hair.
