Does anybody know of ONE cell phone company that doesn't intentionally fuck all of their customers in the ass?
I've had at&t (cingular) for like 2 years and last year I added a line for my boyfriend. So I only wanted like 550 minutes to start off with because I don't ever talk on the phone. 550 minutes($60 a month)plus one extra line($10) plus unlimited txt has been $120 for the longest time and I know it's a lot and I shouldn't stick with it but until the last two bills I haven't had any trouble.
My last two bills have been $200
!
wtf!! They keep saying that we went over our minutes..even though we have a shit ton of roll over minutes and our account says that will still have a lot of left over minutes out of our 550. So basically they are scamming the shit out of me and I don't know what to do.
The early termination fee would be $175 per line...
not to mention my $200 bill due on the first
So wtf do I do??!! I can't afford the termination fee or my bills!
ahhhhh!
How do these evil people sleep at night?

I use VirginMobile. There's no contract. I can quit any time I want. That's the sole reason I use them. Their plans aren't as good, you don't get as many minutes, there's no such thing as rollover minutes, but any time I'm dissatisfied with their service I'm free to walk away.
My plan costs $35 a month. For that I get 350 anytime minutes and 1,000 evening and weekend minutes. That works great for me because I don't talk very much on the phone- mostly it's for work, which is on the weekends.
I would never sign up for a contract because I have no idea what the future holds. I could be broke and on the street a month from now with bills I couldn't pay.

It's comforting to know that Australian cellphone companies are not unique :D
But how does this sound - $600 worth of calls at 70c per min + 35c connection fee.
Now that is about 780 mins if each phone call lasts 5 mins. If your calls are shorter, there would be less minutes (more call connection fees).
SMS is included in that $600 at 25c per SMS. So if you use SMS, you have less than the minutes calculated above.
And a WHOPPING  850mb of data (includes both uploads and downloads).
All this for $89 per month. And that is one of our better value iPhone plans.

I too have Virgin Mobile--for the same reasons as ne --in regards to the contract, and their flexibility in terms of service, plans, etc.--also you are allowed to keep your old number when switching to them if you want. But NE they do have roll forward minutes--go to my virgin mobile and it should lay down each plan's specifics. But the plan from them I'm gonna switch to is called totally unlimited where for $79.99 a month--you get unlimited calls, text, im/email, and roll-forwarding minutes--you don't have to wait til nights and weekends to, take advantage of the plan--it's unlimited for a month--they have free mobile to mobile too.
But yeah, Virgin Mobile is a good company that won't screw you over--you are the one that chooses the terms in a sense. Just as ne previously mentioned.

I'm also on Virgin. Like they said, no system access fees, no contracts and the phones are super cheap to begin with. I got a basic phone for $20, and I only put $15 a month on it because that's all I need. They have a lot of good packages though for texting or whatever you choose to do. Plus it's cheaper when you text/call another virgin customer. I suggest you check them out.

hmm well I'm definitely going to have to look into this because I can't keep paying 200 bucks a month. But I'm trapped in a shitty contract.

yeah they keep just adding charges out of nowhere and it's breaking my bank. But...it's gonna cost me like 300 bucks to break my contract since I have two lines.

I'm growing tired of bitching at them. It gets me nowhere. I'm just afraid of making my credit worse than it is. Before all of this started I never had to pay my bills late. Now with at&t and utilities raping me, I don't know if I'll ever build any kind of credit. I can't even get a credit card. I would buy a car and make payments to establish credit but I can't afford to spend even 40 extra bucks a month on something. I don't even have cable and sadly I used my stimulus check to buy a big flat screen hd tv. I need a second job but I'm afraid of driving my chevette too much in the winter. It's a death trap.

they have a plan where you can talk and text free to 5 friends, and another that you share minutes and call one other person for free which might be good for Hace and her bf once they get their contract settled.

Maybe it's only in Canada. I don't see it anywhere on the US website. If I find anything I'll let you know.

Yeah as the others have said before with Virgin--they offer a variety of plans and you pick the one you like. But I believe, [I'll probably double check later] free mobile to mobile [no charge of fellow VM users] is free if you have a plan at least at the $49.99 a month level.
