lol the misfits really helped define what we call Real Punk. that being said, they never really sounded that dark to me. Glens vocals always seemed dark enough and they had the image but it was always upbeat punk, just not my style i guess.

I can respect the influence they had on the genre tho.

I've been a fan of the Misfits for about 6 years now, and they're pretty cool stuff. Even though I'm more into metal now than that style of music, I really enjoy listening to them on occasion.

Famous Monsters is probably my favorite album, but the Danzig era was great as well.

American Psycho is a pretty good album, if you liked Famous Monsters, than you should like that as well.

Cuts from the Crypt is just a bunch of new Misfits B sides, so it's worth picking up if you're a fan.

As Evil Dead said, "Cuts From the Crypt" is just a variety of b-sides ans whatnot. Only for the diehards and incredibly curious. "American Psycho" is the epitomy and first album of the "New Misfits." Although completely different from Danzig's Misfits, it's still a good record and can hold it's own...

I know a few will argue this and that's ok, but I really didn't care much for the "Graves years". I guess it was too different for me...A FEW songs I liked, maybe 3 at most.... so I didn't do much following of that time, just stuck to my classics, than Project 1950 came out in 2003, and I fell in love again :)

It is a cool song, it's a great one to start the day with. Makes me think of all the rad sinister 50s tunes out their waiting to be discovered hunting thru 45 bins in record stores . My friend's band cover it in their set (they do Cramps style tunes).

the misfits do kick a lot of ass!actually,if i had to pick a favorite band,they would be it.there really is no bad misfits album.but i don't like what Jerry Only is doing with the band now.80% or more,is about horror movies or sci-fi movies.like night of the living dead ,poltergeist,frankensten ,etc.the former lead singer Michale Graves just put out an album in June, it's called PUNK ROCK IS DEAD.it's really good. his voice rips!most of the songs are horror rock/punk songs.you can pick it up at merch monster .com.like i said there really is no bad Misfits i own probably every song ever recorded

I'm from the old school of punk so i do agree that the old Misfits recordings are great, There newer stuff without Danzig is still good.The punk spirit is with them and just like other great horror influence bands like The Acussed,Gwar etc.I've sayed before some may like there new stuff,Some may not.But at least there pluging away still at are fears of monsters and aliens.:D :D

Dig Up Her Bones is a good one on that album. The vinyl reissues of the older albums are pretty fuckin' nice too.

Dig Up Her Bones is a good one on that album. I agree with this...thats about the only Graves Misfits song I like, maybe 1 or 2 more. You should really listen to the old music...pick up Static Age, or Legacy of Brutality then make an opinion. The newer stuff with Micheal Graves, in my opinion, is complete shit compared to the songs that included Glenn Danzig on vocals...sounds like a completely different band all together, and in a very GOOD way.

its about 2 notches above Green Day on the punk scale.
and i dont consider Green Day to be punk by any means.

i just thought it was watered down american punk .. pretty weak.
i think they put far more time, effort, and feeling into their 'look' than their music ... which is pretty much the opposite of what i was looking for.

for 'theme bands' the music had better work. and a 'punk' band with a theme is kind of anti-punk to begin with.

i dont like their new stuff either, you should have gotten Static Age or Earth A.D., im pretty sure you will like it a whole lot better.
