As I said in the numerous other threads we've had for this film, I found it predictable, and the male & female leads were barely sketches of people. Good if all you want from a film is blood & gore.

Speaking of blood and gore...anyone seen any of the films from "Toe Tag Pictures"? I just heard of them today, so I know nothing except that they are supposed to be disturbingly graphic.

I'm sorry for posting another thread about the movie. I wasn't sure if it had been reviewed since I thought it might still be at the box office. Thanks for your comments about the film.

Rue Morgue did an article on them several months back. To paraphrase, they're well-nigh unwatchable. Haven't seen one myself though I'd like to see what the ruckus is about. Thought about ordering one but don't want to pay thirty bucks for a film no matter what it is. The third in the August Underground trilogy, Redsin Tower I think it's called, is listed in the latest Rue Morgue as one of the fifty goriest movies of all time. Interesting list, by the way. Fred Vogel, who heads Toe Tag Pictures, is supposed to have studied under Tom Savini.:)

I liked the movie, but I thought it was too dark (at least on my tv). I could barely see what was going on the latter half of the movie. I'm sure it will be on dvd once the exclusivity of the FEARnet version runs out.

I don't like movies that are too dark. Due to the negative reviews I've read, I may pass on this one.

I didn't have any trouble seeing what was going on.

I think it was a great vehicle for Kitamura. There was enough star power and a twisted enough story to let the man direct his type of film and I'd be surprised if we don't see more English language horror from him. I also saw this one OnDemand (thanks for the heads-up NE).

That works for me (maybe not ALL the time, but it truly is one of my guilty pleasures)...I have this movie, but I haven't had time to sit and watch it yet...I have seen a few scenes, and what I saw in parts of the train (on the hangers) was enough to make me look forward to watching it :)

I thought it was pure Barker through and through.

I really enjoyed it but I also really liked the source material so I may be biased :)
I can't imagine passing on seeing a film because of the reviews of others.

Agreed, that makes absolutely no sense...Everyone has different tastes, it's always best to decide for yourself whether something is 'good' or 'bad'

So can we only reply to these movie threads if we like the movie?
My posting frequency is going to go way down....

Why would you think that? It's good to see other opinions but sheep that skip a movie all together and don't even give it a chance because somebody else didn't like it should be sheared, branded, and muttonized.

There has to personal opinions -good or bad.
I have seen movies highly recommended here. I have watched them and hated them.
Vice versa on bad reviews.
So, we need opinions of all sorts.
I NEVER would have seen as many movies as I have and gems I would have never known existed- scanning the pages of Netflix on my own.
Some movies are not even listed unless you type the name in.

Where is this in Australia? I was under the impression that this was going to come out in December last year. So far i have heard or seen nothing to suggest that it is even going to be released at the movies. I almost have the feeling that it will just show up on dvd.

I heard it was just an average run of the mill horror movie.

It never played at any theaters near my home either. It's dvd release date should be Feb 12th I believe. The movie really got a raw deal from Lionsgate, if it hadn't been for horror fan websights I'd have never known it existed. I know for awhile it could be found on some 'On Demand' channels, depending on your cable provider.

It was really fun story of obsession and blood and Vinnie Jones is awesome in it (becaue he doesn't speak). Yeah, the CG blood-spurts are weak, but the film had a really gleefully dark vibe to it and I thought it was the 3rd best Clive Barker adaptation to date (behind Candyman & Hellraiser)
