New Attraction to Hit Theme Parks in 2011
The Transformers are taking shape at Universal’s theme parks.
Universal Parks & Resorts has paired up with Hasbro and DreamWorks Pictures to produce a “Transformers” attraction at its parks in Hollywood and Singapore set to open in early 2011.
Ride will use 3-D HD footage with special effects, robotics and track to place humans in the middle of a war between the friendly Autobots and evil Decepticons, who can turn into cars, trucks, planes and other vehicles.
U declined to disclose just how much it will spend to produce the attraction, but company spent around $40 million to build “The Simpsons Ride,” which opened over the summer at its parks. “Transformers” could come with a higher pricetag.
The attraction will first open at Universal Studios Singapore, to be based at the multibillion-dollar Resorts World at Sentosa, before bowing in Hollywood. The Sentosa resort is skedded to open in 2010.
“Transformers” will replace the “Backdraft” attraction and special effects soundstages on the lower portion of U’s Hollywood park. Construction begins after Labor Day.

I am a huge Transformers fan. I actually keep up on the various fictions over the last 25 years and I collect the toys....so I have a certain amount of dedication to the franchise that the average person does not. Not saying that makes me more qualified or something, but it should help you explain a bit about me.
And I don't have any particularly hatred for Michael Bay. He makes movies that shit blows up in. As it turns out, I like explosions. I don't expect high art from him and he doesn't pretend to make it, so I don't have a problem with him.

That is definitely the right attitude to have :)
In my case, it turns out i am a bigger snob than i thought. :)
i like stupid, i just found it more vapid than i could handle. Plus, aside from optimus Prime, not a one was the same vehicle as the original line.
Just out of curiosity, who the hell was the little hacker decepticon supposed to be? Was he soundwave?

He was no one from the original series, but he was loosely based off of one of the Casettes, Frenzy (which was the one that looked just like Rumble, only he was red). His name was even Frenzy on the toy, but they didn't intend for him to really BE that character.
Soundwave is going to be in the next one, though.
Don't count on him being a casette player, though. The producers have a huge issue with the "mass shifting" that took place in the cartoon (i.e. Giant megatron changes into tiny gun, Soundwave changing into tiny casette player etc), not to mention no one uses tape players anymore.
He will have something to do with sound though, at least in his robot form from what I have read. And the writers have said Soundwave is their favorite character from the original series, so they don't want to change him too much. They want to do him respect.
Also worth noting...Devastator (the combining construction vehicles) are apparently going to be in the sequel. I don't give a fuck how they look or who is directing it, that will be a sight to see on the big screen.
For the record, I totally get the Michael bay hate....I don't judge people for it at all. In fact, I'm not a HUGE fan of his other movies (though I did like the non-sappy parts of Armageddon, and I liked the Rock). But Transformers is a whole other deal....;)

They didnt seem to have a problem with a cube that was damn near the size of a football field shrinking to an easy "Shya lebouf comfortable" size.
I guess they overlooked that. It was only the entire plot of the movie, so I can see how they missed it ;)

Hahahaha, yeah a lot of Transformers fans picked up on that too. But I think for the most part people agreed that seeing Megatron do the same thing and turn into a little gun in the movie would have been lame.
He's gonna be a tank in the next one, and it looks significantly cooler than the "jet" thing he was in the last one.
