For those who are a bit disappointed with the direction that the Halo series is taking with Halo Wars, check this out:

Halo 3: Recon, was originally slated to be expansion DLC for XBOX Live, but it was changed, and will now get a full release in Fall of 2009.

Not sure who else really enjoys the Halo series, but this seems like it could do the series some good.

I think from a narrative POV anything that doesn't involve John will lose it for me. The chief even in the inception of the original games was one of the most cleverly designed of PCs in years. There was no immense amount of exposition, or plot centalising around who he was, he managed to craft all his character organically as the plot progressed.

I just can't see me digging up the interest without our Spartan their.

I think it would be a unique take on the series. We've seen the Covenants point of view, let us see it from another perspective. I probably won't go into it thinking I'm going to be playing the next Halo, but rather just an alternate part.

Anyone who says Halo 2, was the best of the series, should have no problem playing this game. I hated Halo 2, because of playing as Arbiter. I'd rather play as a human. And even if it's not Chief, it would be better than the second installment.

2 was crap.

Who in their right mind would say that's the best? I found three totally fulfilling and while the plot has gotten a little tpyically sci-fi, I still love ol' John-117.

I have to give it to them though Bungie manages to kick out a surprise amount of narrative with very little exposition, I could be surprised.

2 was great merely for the first real online experience in the Halo universe and I can see people loving it for that. As far as Recon goes, it could be fun but I'd really like them to produce something that ties Marathon to Halo more.

Someone here said that the second one was the best awhile back. I hated it. The first one was fantastic. The third was great.
