View Full Version : Jason Grimm saying hello to the masses at Horror.com

Hello everyone. I've recently been encouraged by my publisher to start posting on forums, and considering this is a horror forum, I decided to give this place a try. I do my best to be a very laid back person, and I also try to join in on other topics as well as try my best to answer questions people may have. I am a horror and supernatural fiction writer with one book under my belt, and another work to be published by AEG publishing within roughly 2 weeks. At this point I'm just waiting for the back cover and spine design to be finished up...once that's taken care of we should be ready for release. The book ("The Reaper Effect:Stairway to Darkness") will be released in 6x9 hardback first, and will eventually be reformatted into paperback. I'm also in the process of establishing e-book release as well. I'll not post my website in a forum thread until I have perssion from the forum admin to do so, but you can check my profile for this forum if you'd like to check it out. My site has a 4- chapter preview of the upcoming novel posted so that you can read a little bit to try it out before you buy anything. Please feel free to ask questions regarding me or my work. I answer everything personally, so please be patient once you've sent something. I have a lot of messages, e-mails, and the like that I go through personally each day, but I promise you that I'll get back to you as soon as possible. Thanks in advance everybody!

I look forward to talking with everyone...Until then, have a great night.

-Jason-

Just know that I have no intention of spamming like mad...what was listed and mentioned in my first introduction will be the only time I "spam" info. I just wanted to give a brief post about what I do, and what's going on. Since I've said that, I'll only contribute to existing posts and answer questions from here on. I'm just posting this add-on in case anyone suspected me of being a pimp spammer (no doubt this forum sees a lot of them). Having said that, thanks for reading everybody.

Welcome:)

I can just about imagine how creepy your work probably is.
I too, live in bumfuc....I mean the boonies of NC.

So,I can understand the influence+material=good story.

Jason Grimm

I'm honestly not sure how "creepy" it is; at this point, nothing really creeps me out anymore. Readers often tell me that I lay out a dark atmosphere that they wouldn't want to be stuck in, so I no doubt enjoy that. That said, my work can be rather graphic, and I intend to indulge that aspect in future projects.

Hope you like it here. We have other published writers hanging about as well.

At the top of the general forum we have several Top 100 lists. Take the time to check them out and see what we like.

If you get stuck on a movie, the top of the Modern Horror forum is where you want to go.

We're a fun group. We do projects, play games and yes, even talk about horror every now and then.

Check out the official radio station of choice here, neverendingwonder radio.

I look at it this way guys: I've been the new guy on several forums...I'm not one of those chumps that tries to waltz in and own the place. I'll take my lumps like everyone had to, it's only fair. :) That being said, I'm still reading threads and trying to get caught up a lil bit so I can contribute. I'll start throwing out more thread posts once I've done a bit more reading.

Have a good one guys!

Could I perhaps trade that last one in for a better one? Seriously. I'm all for "burning the new guy" and all that, but that was just lackluster at best. Take 2...this time with some effort if you don't mind. Thanks. :D

Still waiting for take 2...and I'm not interested in getting married at present. Marriage is an institution after all, and I'm not really into shock therapy...Unless a Swedish redhead domintarix is involved...and then only if she loves me for who I am, not how loud I scream...I have my standards.

Murder Set Pieces

It's an indie flick by Nick Palumbo, pretty low budget...It has some decent scenes...The ending is pretty unbelievable...Not a great movie...But definitely worth a watch at least once...Psst: Tony Todd is in it, and he plays a funny part...If you like Tony Todd, he also plays a funny part in Hatchet...Hatchet is an AWESOME, gory movie :)

Turning you down as I did was kinda harsh...My apologies...BUT...for the record, I don't know if you'd kill and eat me afterwards...I might end up like that guy in the chair. However, if you ever get into the dominatrix business...give me a call. The "red hair" bit was preference, but not an absolute must. ;)

With that out of the way, I will post some of my work in the proper section, and will try to do so before Halloween. Until I get something posted here, you can check out my site for previews if the mood strikes ya.

While I'm at it, here's a question for the forum admin. Which section would you want me to post the book preview in? There's 2 sections that it would fit in ("books" being one of them). Get back to me at let me know which section you'd prefer I post it in.

Thanks.

PS: I heard that they finally found Waldo, well, what was left of him. Something tells me that he wishes he hadn't took that side trip to Dallas...

Don't get me wrong though; if no one's actually interested, I won't bother posting it. Wasting time (mine or other's) isn't productive, after all. I'm just offering, this being a horror forum and all that actually has sections for writing. Most of the horror forums I've looked into only cover films and television.

Sorry Sweetie, our admin abandoned us a long time ago...The nuts are running this asylum, as it were

I'd say the Horror Fiction folder would probably be the best place to put it, and it would be in pretty good company, too :)

So what you're telling me is that you'd be friendly to Waldo? C'mon dude...Ok, fine...I'll buy that one. And I wasn't "badmouthing" Dallas; I have friends there...Plus the majority of my friends are Cowboys fans, so it's kinda hard for me to not like it.

Try to give a guy a compliment and he gets insulted...ah well, not like this forum makes sense or anything anyways...nuts running the asylum and all.

To hell with it...I'll just end this post with: "puppies and kittens" or some other generic crap.

Anywho, the preview's posted...have at it. Bashers get your bats, flamers grab some matches, and those who turn out to actually enjoy it...thanks. It isn't the prettiest patch job I've ever done to post on a forum (had to break it up in parts), but I hope it's readable. Jason's short story:
Very chilly start I must say:cool:
When's the next part?

BTW Jason:
In post #4, the part where Victor is walking towards the restaurant, it says '...the smell of eath hit him like a festering- five ton hammer.'
Would that be ether or earth?

Jason Grimm
10-29-2008, 03:47 AM
It's supposed to be "death"...I probably deleted the "d" when I was reformating it in the forum message window...It took about 45 minutes to go over it and restructure the paragraphs. Once I copied and pasted it here, all of the paragraphs were broken up pretty bad. That's why I went ahead and apologized in advance for errors. I love posting previews of my work on forums, but it's really tough to transfer them error free. This is the tenth or eleventh forum I've posted on, and I have yet to have one of the posts make a flawless transition from Word Perfect 12 to a forum log. Which is why I usually encourage people on forums to do exactly what you did: ask questions if something doesn't look right or make sense...that way I can try to clear things up. You'll be able to read the rest of this once the book's released (which should literally be anytime now). What you read is the preview of the book...it isn't ameteur fiction or anything like that, the whole of that story is soon to be out in hardback. With a 50,000+ word count; I'd loose my mind trying to post something that size lol.

Tons of writers like to give a preview that's a few pages...1 chapter at the most. I try to give a bit more...I want people to have time to either like or hate where the story's going before they spend any money. Considering the way the economy is currently, I really want my readers to have a chance to like what I write before they spend their cash on it. If you liked the preview, I don't think you'll be disappointed with the full work...Like most novels, the beginning is the slow part because ya gotta set things up.

I'm glad you enjoyed reading it, and I'm glad you asked your question...always ask if you have questions. :D Again, thanks for taking a minute to give it a read.
