Once you have the flu you can't get a flu shot.
The flu shot is a strain of the flu virus or sometimes several strains.

I put absolutely no faith in them and I refuse to get it for me or my kids.
Although for someone like my mom who's older and catches everything-I recommend it completely.
The flu virus mutates like crazy during one flu season so the shot is good for 1 or 2 strains but what about the rest of them? There can be literally millions of mutated strains of all the fall viruses.
Useless.

You are young, and your immune system is perfectly suited to fight anything, other than the serious immune diseases.

Just rest, drink lots of water and let your body work.
Try not to sneeze on the babies:p

I hate being sick, you know everyone around you will get it next and give it back to you.
Not bummed about leaving work though:)

Novakru is right about the flu vaccine. It is developed to protect against a strain or strains of the influenza vaccine.

It's obviously formulated prior to the current "flu season" based on what is predicted to be the likely or problematic strains of virus that year. So it won't cover you for "coughs and colds" and it won't cover all possible strains of influenza. Also, because the virus does mutate frequently, the immunisation is probably only going to be of any use for one year.

The immunisation is made up of inactivated (dead) influenza virus. It's too late to get vaccinated once you have influenza.

Vaccination (depending on where you live) is usually recommended for various groups including: the elderly, those with chronic illness (eg chronic lung disease) and health care workers.

I don't get influenza vaccination, but some people find it helpful. Probably a good idea for some people to get it (see above).

Need a cheap way to get rid of an ear infection?

Swab the insides of your ear with a qtip dipped in HydroPerioxide.
Of course being careful not go too deep into the ear canal.

Chew chewable vit.C's 500 or 1000mg like candy.
When I feel myself getting sick I chew like 15 of them an hour.

And you can't OD on vit.C, no matter what people say (I wouldn't recommend kids doing it because their systems are still almost perfect so they dont need shit like that)

There's a reason why Vit.C comes in such small dose pills and why the REAL amount you need is not common knowlege..........but that's a whole nutter thread:cool:
