Some people are cooking Halloween things now. And I suppose the stores have pumpkin pies and things. There are pumpkins in some stores and I even bought a couple of little ones for making into pumpkin stir-fry. It has been suggested that I do a BAKED PUMPKIN with brown sugar and butter and I would like to try this, maybe with some marshmallows to give it that candied yam sort of quality!
I bet some of you are cooking some Halloween stuff, maybe even some cookies with orange and black sprinkles on them!
I had a cupcake last week that had orange frosting and little tiny candy BATS on it!

I bet you can find a nice pumpkin pie cheep though! Last year some store had 'em for $3.99...you can make a nice spiced chai tea also, the pumpkin pie spices lend a cozy quality to this tastiness.

No NO!...Buy a pumpkin for $1 and MAKE a pie!
I do that every year...Actually, a normal jack-o-lantern sized pumpkin makes 6-8 pies:eek:
Nothing beats home-made :)

Oh YES, do this...You will really like it
You can do it with acorn squash (and butternut squash), too :)
I'm fond of pumpkin pie
goes great with a nice Halloween Ale

I can't bake, my oven doesn't work (for the second time, it was mysteriously working for awhile then stopped again, nothing works right in this house, I think I have haints, and yes my southern is showing ;) ), we need a new one. Its probably for the best though, because as I am sure I have mentioned somewhere around here, Jen+cooking of any kind usually equals disaster. :D

If anyone has a Jamba Juice nearby they're currently featuring a pumkin drink that is simply AMAZING.

My wife's gonna bake some pumpkin oatmeal cranberry cookies but alas! they're destined for the teachers' lounge at school. That's okay though. I get to scrape the pan and that's the best part.

I had actually planned to bake some cookies for Halloween last year, AND this year before the problems with my oven. I think its just trying to save me from myself.
I think there may be a good bakery around here though.

Not really cooking but if you have a party, put red or green fod colouring into the fizzy drinks. And if you have one, a mini smoke machine.

I'd try but the risk of getting my fingers broken is too great.

That's a seriously great idea...Pumpkin and Cranberries? I would have NEVER thought of that...And the oatmeal would make it chewy...The pumpkin, cranberries AND oatmeal would actually make it good for you
I'm gonna try to find a recipe for this, or create my own...I'd say it definitely would need some brown sugar and vanilla
Thanks for an incredible idea
And very seasonal, too :)

We always stop at McDonald's after we finish trick-or-treating, while they're still in their costumes...McDonald's lets them trick-or-treat there, too :)
It's been part of the tradition since Seri was little
Then we come home, they get baths to wash off all the make-up, get in their pajamas and dig through their loot while watching a horror movie
I LOVE Halloween!
