Good luck honey. I didn't read the thread you are referring to, I just know from personal (and recent) experience that some people here are rather unforgiving. But most are cool. We all make mistakes. We ALL have to remember that. The best we all can do is learn from our mistakes and try not to repeat them.

I guess I've learned my lesson. It doesn't pay to be too honest at HDC, even if the honesty isn't meant to inflict pain on other members. It's hard for me to be confrontational and it makes me uncomfortable with myself to think I've harmed others. Hopefully, members aren't deliberately ignoring this thread, but if they are, well...that's pretty sad. Two of them mentioned putting me on their "ignore list". I haven't done that with any member yet. I don't like missing out on anything. Hehehe.

The majority of us have been here long enough (some of us have been here since the forum STARTED 5 years ago) that we CAN decide how our forum is and how it will be, we don't need new people to come in and tell us how they think it SHOULD be...We will not conform to their liking, they will have to adjust to ours, or they can leave...Majority rules

There are many different types of people here, from many different places and age groups, with many different personalities, yet we have all somehow managed to get along just fine for many years...Many new people jump in, accept us, and do very well, although not all of them can get the hang of it, so they leave...If you are expecting us to change, you will be extremely disappointed and very unhappy here...Your incessant complaining, instigating and demands for us to conform is irritating many of our members, even those who NEVER snap at people (Newb and Jenna, that REALLY surprised me), so I have to conclude that the problem rests with your behavior, not ours.

There are literally millions of forums on the internet, you can choose from any of them if you have a problem with this one

I hope the apology's accepted. Viciousness occurred all around, but I don't think we should ban somebody for calling out what she sees as belligerent behavior. We need to chill out and stop infighting. Period. Some of us broke the forum's rules about saying things that were directly insulting. We were called out by a new member, perhaps sanctimoniously but not completely unfairly. Nella deserves praise for her courage now that she's sought redemption for being excessively sensitive. There were some of us that I felt like telling off for being malicious, but I didn't and she did. Other than all the PC crap, brand X liberal whining and lawyering that was brought up, she's a cool chick in my book.

Rayne, my apology is sincere. However, I do not agree that you weren't out of line. You asked me if I could read and you even asked me if English was my first language! That is very belittling! I even posted an apology to you in that thread for making a mistake as I read a couple of posts wrong and retaliated.

I was not telling you all how to run the forum but I have a right to disagree when someone is being ridiculed. The "official" new posts in the general forum were taking up nearly half of the front page. If you don't see that that is unnecessary and childish, then the problem is not mine. You even told me I should leave and you allowed the attack on me to continue so I had no choice but to defend myself. I know that some of the things I said were wrong. However, I did not call anyone names (I'm not referring to urge's post or the one that said cunt in it.)

When I came here, you did not say hello to me. You did not even interact with me until I posted that thread. I know you all have had problems with other members in the past so I can sort of understand your wariness of newbies.

You will have to point out the threads with my "incessant complaining." I don't think my complaints have been incessant or demanding. I have not instigated anything either. There is a PROBLEM when the other members gang up on a newbie, especially last night. (I'm referring to another newbie who hasn't done anything wrong, including myself except in that thread I posted last night.)

(My first two posts in that thread were not cruel and unnecessary.) When I introduced myself here, Return was the first to make a snide remark when I said I liked it here. Zwoti even commented on his remark and showed a list of members who had been banned. Return decided to edit his post afterward. Not many members welcomed me. That is ok. I just think that some of the other members are not completely innocent in regards to this whole thing. As I said, you all have had a problem with newbies causing trouble in the past. That does not mean we newbies are all gonna be that way.

When I said that last night was a big mess, I was also referring to my own posts. Also, I did not direct that thread at a lot of members who decided to post in it with hateful remarks to me. Even newb and Jenna had no valid reason to say what they said. They were not even posting in the threads I pointed out. At least, I don't think they were. I didn't read all of those threads but the titles of them were obviously meant to harass a newbie. Why you don't see that is beyond me. I don't think you're unkind. I just think that you're being unfair. I don't expect you all to change but I refuse to be badgered. That other newbie decided to participate in my thread. He called me "flamebait" which was unwarranted. I had never said anything to him.

I did make a lot of posts in the wrong threads. I am new here for goodness sake. I've even apologized for distracting members by doing so. My intent wasn't to cause trouble when I came to HDC. I was genuinely interested in the forum because I saw a link to it on another website I was reading.

I'm posting this only to defend myself. I don't want to leave the forum and I will not complain anymore. Two members who weren't involved in the discussion (if that's what it's called) last night posted in this thread saying, more or less, that it was ok. One mentioned that the members here are unforgiving. That, too, is sad. Two wrongs don't make a right. I can go on without an apology from anyone involved in my thread last night. I know I've done what's right, in my opinion, by apologizing here.

I've seen lots of posts I didn't agree with before last night and I simply ignored them. I will say, once again, that I should not have been rude to others when they replied to me in that thread. I don't really think I gave them a reason to get nasty with me when I started out. I wasn't downright cruel, either. But it's ok. I've learned some things since last night. I really and truly am a good person at heart. I'm a human being with feelings and so are you and all the other members.

Please forgive me and give me the chance I didn't get from very many members here from the beginning. I'm very sorry.

As I said, I regretted posting in there shortly after. I shouldn't have gotten involved at all.
I will say this, the problem I had was mainly the insinuation that everyone here is self centered, uncaring and just all around assholes . I didn't like the "misreading" of people's posts to try to support that. THAT is what pissed me off, not even the initial post. Nella, I WAS nice to you and never said a bad thing to you, I'm not asshole.....usually, I'm nice to everyone. Ask just about anyone here. I try to make people feel welcome, even though I tend to stay out of the new introduction threads, because I don't know who is going to stick around. But not everyone is going to be nice, like Despare says, not everyone here HAS to like you (hell, not everyone here likes me....yes, I know...hard to believe....;) ) and you also just can't be so sensitive to everyone's remarks, or threads. If you are, people are going to get frustrated. I don't necessarily like some of what newer people go through here, but I also don't believe everyone here is going to (or even should) look at things the same way I do. We are all very, very different people, it is what makes this place interesting.

So to put an end to this finally, at least from my point of view, apology accepted. And I will also apologize if my post was out of line. You're right, it wasn't my place. There have been accusations thrown at me, by several members, of trying to change the place. "Guns blazing" is how 1 member put it. I assure you, I could care less how this place is run. It seems to be laid out in a fairly common forum style, the members are typical- the good, bad and ugly. The nOOb hazing is the norm(you guys are decent at it, but I've seen better). I wouldn't change most anything.

But I have taken a little heat recently, for those directories I've started. Why? I've got a theory or 2, but for the sake of keeping the peace, I'll keep them to myself. If anyone thinks I'm putting them together for some bizarre masterplan, they are completely wrong. I'm putting them together to help alleviate a problem(that I, and I'm sure other new and maybe, old members have). Duplication of threads. And it also gets rather tedious, going into a new thread, to see what it's all about, only to find another ragfest where Lifers are chewing out nOObs for dupe threads.

I look on these directories as nothing more than phone books. They will not change this forum in any negative way. If any of you think I'm doing it for some great glory, you are very wrong. I could care less. As a matter of fact, when they're finished, they can be transferred over to _V_'s authorship, and you can sing his/her(sorry, I haven't sexed everybody yet_V_) praises till the cows come home. I'm doing it because I'm a lazy fuck who doesn't want to wade thru 900 pages of bullshit, to find a topic of interest. The directories might also revitalize interest in topics that really haven't been discussed much. I've already replied in a few oldies but goodies that I felt needed a bump.

As far as being hyperactive on the forum, there are a lot of topics here of interest to me. I'm sure that after I've been thru most of the place, my ardor will die down. But it is nice to see dead categories getting a little life back in them.

As far as wanting to get to know you personally, if it happens it happens, if it don't, oh well. I wont lose any sleep. I'm here for the flicks. And it is true about my options for joining here. I had filtered down my choices between this place and 2 others(with many more bells and whistles). Why did I choose this plain gray place?

1) You don't have to agree with me....I said nothing out of line, it's a fact and I stand by it.

3) After 3 attempts to explain the same common phrase to you (which you were obviously having difficulty grasping) I came to the conclusion that perhaps English wasn't your first language (I can't imagine any English-speaking person having never heard the phrase "bitch and whine"), so I asked...I could have just as easily surmised other possible reasons for your failure to comprehend and questioned those, however the 'language barrier' was the first one that entered my mind.

When I said that last night was a big mess, I was also referring to my own posts. Also, I did not direct that thread at a lot of members who decided to post in it with hateful remarks to me.

1) We are a close-knit community, almost a family, we defend each other...No matter who you DID direct the thread to, the rest of the forum takes offense

2) If you ONLY wanted to direct your thread to a limited number of members, and you did not want 'others' to comment on it, you should have made your comments in a PM to those specified members rather than bringing it to the open forum.

3) When you post on the forum, you must expect EVERYONE to respond...That's what the forum is for - open discussion

Even newb and Jenna had no valid reason to say what they said.

1) Newb and Jenna have been here long enough to say whatever they choose to say...They don't need to validate their reasons to you, or anyone else here.

2) The very fact that they responded to you negatively proves that there was a serious problem

3) Neither of them called you a name...They both expressed their dissatisfaction with the conflict your thread was causing...Newb did little more than remind you that you have the option to leave the forum

I didn't read all of those threads but the titles of them were obviously meant to harass a newbie.

1) If you don't read a thread, you can't (shouldn't) really comment on it

2) What I saw was an attempt to TEASE a new member...That happens here sometimes (not just with new members, but with everyone)...If you had been here a while you would have known that, as it is, you are still very new yet admonishing our long-term forum members for what YOU perceive to be inappropriate...That does not play well here, as you are finding out.

3) No one was 'harassed'...Even Leprucky herself posted in those threads...SHE knows how to take it in stride, and play along with us, and she has taken FAR more grief here than you have...From my experience, I would have to say that SHE is the type of person that would survive here, and you are likely not.

4) If you HAD read the threads, you would have seen that we made them relevant, and responded to the topic of the threads...Except for the utterly ridiculous underwear thread, that was also started by a NEW member (one that YOU have buddied up to), was not responded to well, and was subsequently removed.

I just think that you're being unfair.

1) Most of the complaints I get are based on me being TOO lenient

2) I'm far more than "fair"

Please forgive me and give me the chance I didn't get from very many members here from the beginning.

1) It's not up to me to forgive anyone...If the individual members of the forum choose to accept you, that's their prerogative...If they don't, there's nothing wrong with that...You can't expect everyone to accept you.

There have been accusations thrown at me, by several members, of trying to change the place. "Guns blazing" is how 1 member put it. I assure you, I could care less how this place is run. It seems to be laid out in a fairly common forum style, the members are typical- the good, bad and ugly. The nOOb hazing is the norm(you guys are decent at it, but I've seen better). I wouldn't change most anything.

But I have taken a little heat recently, for those directories I've started. Why? I've got a theory or 2, but for the sake of keeping the peace, I'll keep them to myself. If anyone thinks I'm putting them together for some bizarre masterplan, they are completely wrong. I'm putting them together to help alleviate a problem(that I, and I'm sure other new and maybe, old members have). Duplication of threads. And it also gets rather tedious, going into a new thread, to see what it's all about, only to find another ragfest where Lifers are chewing out nOObs for dupe threads.

I look on these directories as nothing more than phone books. They will not change this forum in any negative way. If any of you think I'm doing it for some great glory, you are very wrong. I could care less. As a matter of fact, when they're finished, they can be transferred over to _V_'s authorship, and you can sing his/her (sorry, I haven't sexed everybody yet _V_) praises till the cows come home. I'm doing it because I'm a lazy fuck who doesn't want to wade thru 900 pages of bullshit, to find a topic of interest. The directories might also revitalize interest in topics that really haven't been discussed much. I've already replied in a few oldies but goodies that I felt needed a bump.

As far as being hyperactive on the forum, there are a lot of topics here of interest to me. I'm sure that after I've been thru most of the place, my ardor will die down. But it is nice to see dead categories getting a little life back in them.

As far as wanting to get to know you personally, if it happens it happens, if it don't, oh well. I wont lose any sleep. I'm here for the flicks. And it is true about my options for joining here. I had filtered down my choices between this place and 2 others(with many more bells and whistles). Why did I choose this plain gray place?

I can literally see how much time and effort you put through all of it, while painstakingly doing searches through literally thousands of pages of threads. (using the very crappy "Search" button, or related searches through Google)

Its a HUGE and monumental achievement, and no amount of applause can equal the efforts you poured into making those Index threads. Although I seriously doubt that any new(er) members will actually use the Indexes (most of the time they just wade into the desired section and hit "New Thread" anyway), it would be very useful to the regs of HDC as references to opinions, quotes and reviews of movies which they want to look into.

- You do NOT come in and throw shit around at people who are genuinely trying to help you out and give you a hand. Rayne, Newb, Jenna, even Urgeok, are the MOST friendly people here in HDC. If they got all riled up and gave you any sort of shit, then that would have been in straight reply to any sort of BS you poured into your posts. Never otherwise.


- You are still very new here, and have absolutely NO idea about any member and his/her personality to start calling them any sort of downgrading and derogatory names. All you see, is text on your computer screen, and that too, pathetically, is going straight over your head without getting decoded into any sort of sense inside your brains. My suggestion - re-read all your posts from the time you started in here, and read the responses to them. I am sure there is still hope of enlightenment inside your microchips which re-code everything into a proper sensory response which will make you understand and realise the mistakes you have been committing till now.

Dis. on most forums are zoos, and are usually haunted by the terminally bored, flamers and people with no comprehension of why they're even here. And really not meant for thin-skinned people. I come in here, most of the time, for the tourney threads, or to chuckle at some really whacked out comment. But my visits are usually brief. You should make them brief too.

I hope the apology's accepted. Viciousness occurred all around, but I don't think we should ban somebody for calling out what she sees as belligerent behavior.
