Well, the leaves are turning and falling faster than i can ever recall ... or perhaps that was because this was the biggest ripoff of a summer i can remember in my entire life - weather wise.
I made myself a promise i wouldn't bitch about the weather anymore - in light of the natural disasters that seem to befall places with warmer climes.
but FUCK !!!
i waited patiently for 8 fucking months last year - for a few measily weeks of a summer - and this year it didnt come.
it never warmed up as it usually does - for more than 2 days anyway ... and it rained for about 8 weeks straight.
I put the deck furniture out - and we didnt sit on it once .. not once !!
I wont bitch about this again .. it's just that i'm not getting any younger and i have no idea how many summers i have left - doesnt seem like that many any more ... is it too much to ask to just sit outside on a hot sunny day ?
(the one hot day of the summer was the day when i was in a suit and tie photographing my friends wedding and got dehydrated as hell.
did this just happen in the toronto ontario part of canada or did anyone else get short shafted this year.
and Rod .. dont say a fucking thing about california !!

Seattle summer seemed pretty normal weather wise.
Aside from the weather, it was the best of times and the worst of times for me. Summer ended up being a big financial melodrama for me, starting with old friends and roommates screwing me over and ending with me being in a more stable situation than I have in years.

if it's any consolation urge, the summer here in central indiana was either uncomfortably hot/humid, or rainy.
not much of a summer at all for me either.

Well urge...have you ever considered either leaving Canada or vacationing in a place warmer just for the summer season. I actually wouldn't mind switching with you. I hate summer and warm weather to begin with for that matter. Winter was always my favorite season and fall second favorite; but with living in the mid-atlantic part of the states fall in Sept and October is such a tease. Fall starts on the 21st of September and I can only recall 3 ocassions were the temps were under 70 degrees; and those shouldn't count because it was raining. Well I guess one of the good things about living in the midatlantic region is that it's not always cold or always hot; you tend to feel all four seasons. But I do get annoyed by sometimes how the seasons tease you every so often. This part of Virginia I'm in right now (Staunton) is pretty much always sunny until I assume January (that's when people say it starts snowing and feeling like winter in the month)
But as far as my summer went....it was ok. Besides being hot. I think all the middle of June, all of July the temps were 95-102 on average....at night it would cool to the 80s. I hated that. Then August the low 90s to mid 80s was frequent. Fall isn't moving quickly if you ask me. I mean yeah the squirrels are storing their nuts, trees are changing...but I don't "feel the chill." (for lack of better pun) To me 80 is hot, so I can maybe my judgement may be wrong. So maybe I should pay a visit to Canada one day. Omg, if you're jealous or frustrated about the Cali comments, maybe spend a summer in Arizona, or Nevada--especially Las Vegas (it was 110 everyday I was there and "cooled down to 100". Ridiculous.
Don't feel bad about you venting about a lack of heat...I feel the same way but for the opposite reasons.

I agree 100%
And it really has come into focus just how short summers are since I got a pool few years ago. Spend all that money on chemicals and running the damn filter for just a few fucking days.
maybe I should move to Florida

I live in New Brunswick, Canada. We have pretty nice summers here; athough, this year we saw quit abit of rain. Im with you on the winter. I absoultley can't stand it. Thankfully, I will be graduating soon and be heading for some year around summer weather...
I did break my leg this summer. And with all the rain, I didn't mind laying on the couch as much. Tylenol 3, movies and GTA 4 became my best friends...

I went down to florida for 2 weeks the summer. I like to travel around and get a feel for places I might want to live one day. Overall, I like florida, but the humidity and storm seasons discourage me.

I had two holidays and it was sunnier than usual here.
I'd say good.

i dont want to move - i love the toronto area.
as far as vacation goes - we found ourselves in a weird situation this summer...
we had our son in several day camps, then my wife and i split up 2 weeks each to be with our son .. we never got any time with the 3 of us together.
we have to figure out a better way to do it next year - but i'm not sure how .. other than to stick him in more daycamps so we can overlap 2 weeks .. but i'd rather he'd be with at least one of us than stuck in a day camp 2 extra weeks.
