Besides, Top 10 is so overdone, and doesn't take any real skill or thought.

Skill? To list the films you think are best? Anyway, what it does take is an inordinate amount of time, nice thread though and almost as ambitious as your others. I feel the cold chill of a familiar wind...

I really appreciate you doing this Nella, but you should just let the patient die a natural death, as per Mr. Despare's request. He knows what's best, trust me.

I know....

come here, let me give you a hug, it's alright....

...the thread is going to a better place now.

I really don't want to abandon the thread. I've spent too much time posting in it. I also think your idea is a good one. When new people like me come to HDC, they will want to know which horror films each individual has watched so that they can ask for a review of a certain one. Maybe this will prevent more posts in the wrong places. :)

Do you have... any idea how long that would take? Can't you just settle for the countless top ten threads?

Now that this thread has disintegrated to another mindless chatfest, I can give you a more complete answer.

It takes little skill to prattle off 10 hip films you know everyone will approve of, but is more revealing to list 100, as your viewing habits will be more apparent. As I said before, nobody is required to post 100 in one sitting. It can be done over the course of 1 day, week, month or year. Matters not to me.

Has anyone seen Dario Argento's "Jenifer"? It got mixed reviews. I don't remember seeing it mentioned here. I've thought about watching it a couple of times but it's only about an hour long. I'm trying to avoid wasting time and money. Let me know if you think it's worth watching. Thanks!

Nella

Doc, I have Cat People on my Netflix list. I've heard of it a lot but I thought it might contain bestiality. Does it?

Doc Faustus
10-17-2008, 12:36 PM
The Val Lewton one? Not so much. The remake doesn't either, but there's incestuous overtones. Cat People is quiet horror at its best. If you're looking for "catpeople", watch the Island of Doctor Moreau or Terror is a Man.

The one I was referring to is the remake, I think. I will try watching it and see what it's like. Do you know anything about "Jenifer"? I posted about it above. Thanks for replying.

10-17-2008, 02:08 PM
Jenifer is a decent watch. Its a modernization of an old story. I've got a Bernie Wrightson comic with it in it.

I prefered his Masters of Horror episode Pelts to that one tho.

But you may aswell just get a hold of Sleepless or Mother Of Tears which are the best of his modern work.

Chronogrl, I like your list. Great organization!

Thanks - The only way I could get my mind around a top 100 was to categorize them. By the way... You seem to like a lot of modern horror... May I suggest some of my favorite indie horror films... May, The Signal, and Session 9. Check them out when you get a chance.

May is very good, should probably be on my list somewhere. So should Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance.
And thanks, I tried, not an easy list to put together. And there is still so much I haven't seen, especially when it comes to foreign horror. But I'm working on it.....;)
