I am supposed to be working tonight. I already called up and said I wouldn't be in till 5 because I was out of town. But now my stomach is turning. I think I'm going to council.
Do you think I should stick with the out of town story instead of complicating and saying that I'm now sick?
I hate calling up as well. Any one want to do it for me?

Out of town, unfamiliar food there last night...been feeling a bit off but now you're sure due to, er, embarrassing symptoms.
Any doc will give you a cert, just tell them you've got cold sweats and sudden bursts of needing to take a shit, a shit that comes out more liquid than solid.
Make sure to just subtly throw in towards the beginning "yeah I'm here off work".
I don't think too many ever want to pry into that.

yup...
diarrhea
no one likes to say it - even when you have it, you don't want to tell anyone, so admitting it is all the evidence anyone needs and no one wants to be around it.
It is the golden excuse, but can only be used once or twice at any job without raising questions about your intestinal fortitude

O.k, I probably don't need to give them any deatail, I just don't feel like making the call.
Is it wrong if I just send them an email?
Probably not, the boss is at his p.c all day anyway.

Email is the easy way, but not necesarrily the best way. i have had that backfire when the boss didnt see my email because he got 200 every day.

Same here.
Just call 'em, don't try to sound sick, just matter of fact 'em, and say you're prepping to go get some meds.

Exactly, especially since the runs arent going to make you sound like anything. Unless you dont have a cell phone,t hen you can sound desperate :D (I HAVE TO GET OFF THE PHONE, DEAR GOD! HERE IT COMES!)

I was going to suggest you make sure they dont know you frequent this site and your username. I dont doubt that the people I work for know my screen name here, so if I had anything bad to say, I wouldnt (but I dont ;)).

They probably have a record of websites visited. But I don't think they would even bother checking up on me here... It would be a bit intrusive if they did.

My first IT job, about 6 years ago. there was a controversey surrounding a VP and his secretary in the NY office. A bunch of people from the company were bsing about it on the Yahoo boards, unaware that the company was tracking them (there is a precedent when it is about the company and using company equipment, although that obviously not the case in your case), and quite a few people were unemployed shortly thereafter.
Not saying its right, just that it happens.
