Thanks to Kemal bringing this up and The Return's post for this here:
http://horror.com/forum/showthread.php?t=35538&page=3

I am officially dying to see this movie. I think this is going to be the 300 of this Holiday season for me... It promises to be intensely violent and graphic, which is what i persoannly loved about the punisher series (though, like Iron man, its one i rarely read)

and to save you a trip, the is what the evil penguin posted:

Watch it and tell me you arent stoked....

I'm just going to repeat myself - this looks like it could be one of the most badass action movies in a long time.

I haven't read many Punisher comics, but from what I can tell, Jigsaw sounds like a fucking awesome villain. Hardly shows him in the trailer, but what we get to see looks pretty sweet.

Looks like an unpredictable psycopath. Kind of looked like Heath Ledger's Joker, Minus the subtlety.

Jigsaw is one of the more fucked up punisher villains.
Really just, mental in a bad way...just quite smart with a lot of resources too...but absolutely crazy.
Although, the punisher hasnt had the best run of films, not holding my breathe.

Regarding Jigsaw: Cool :)

As far as the movie, it has nothign to do with Dolph Lundgren, Lou Gosset Jr, Rebecca Romijn, or anythign else from the last few punisher movies, so my hopes are high.

I liked the Lundgren version...even being the casual fan that I am I could tell that it butchered the source material, but I still found it enjoyable as a fairly mindless action flick.

The Tom Jane version was just bland...Travolta wasn't much of a villain and there wasn't nearly enough violence.

I've got high hopes for this one - fingers crossed.

I swear, if they fuck this one up, the studio is going to get it from me.

The Dolph Lundgren healmed Punisher flick was great. It really captured the early comics style for me. Didn't think much of the second outing... it was really fuckin' weak. This one could be mean as fuck especially if its anything like the last Rambo film.

Yeh I don't see why it gets so much shit. The female Yakuza boss is a great villain and really reminds me of Lucy Liu's character in Kill Bill perhaps one of many of Tarantino's homages in the film?

I'm thinking it's another case of dissing the flick because of the actor. Probably why a bunch of great Van Damme and Seagal flicks are panned in the same way.

A lot of action movies get panned because the acting is often terrible and the plots are either cookie-cutter, or non existant. I think that is why a lot of people say they suck. I mean, look at commando, the acting was ALL terrible. Even veterans with a great track record like Dan Hedaya was terrible. The plot was razor thin, and most of what happens in it is just over-the-top bullshit.

But its a classic, because we dont watch them for any of the things i listed. Commando is great because Arnie was in his heyday and killed a BUNCH of people. Dolph has had some decent movies. I Come in Peace was fun. A lot of people hoped for more from his Punisher, but in his defense, there wasnt a single good comic book movie until the 90s when movies like The Crow came out.

I think Warzone will succeed, even if most of it sucks, because it is going to be relentless, graphic violence.

However, after this past summer, i have a great deal of faith in Marvel Studios

Its a pity that they changed the villian to John Travoltas one in the Jane film - the original version was way cooler..

I like Ray Stevenson (well in Rome anyway) but I don't hold much for it after seeing the trailer. The hanging upside down bit is silly and the suit he wears looks weird..

I'd love too see it really mean spirited like MAN ON FIRE which is the way the Punisher should be.

They already made a Punisher movie that was twice as long as it should have been...didnt you watch the Tom Jane version?

All I got to say is it better be violent, as that's how I remember all my Punisher comics. And does anyone think the trailer looks kinda Max Payne-ish?

From mania.com:

After some rumor and speculation that the new 'Punisher: War Zone' movie would be some namby-pamby PG-13 movie for the kids, the MPAA has handed-down its rating for the film.

The movie is officially rated "R" for pervasive strong brutal violence, language and some drug use.

There you go, Punisher fans. Not just violence. Not just brutal violence. Not just strong brutal violence. Pervasive strong brutal violence!

So the movie is basically a lot of horribly brutal killings...

I knew it was going to be good :)

Pervasive, huh? Sounds promising. I like the new look with the subdued death's head. I'll be first in line for this one.

I couldn't agree more with everything you just said. The Punisher from 89 was fucking awesome, action packed.

That trailer was fucking awesome, holy shit. put it on my top 5 for most anticipated.
its good to see a director who isnt too much of a pussy to put some goddamn violence in a movie for christ sake!
