I am assuming if he took a web design class, he flunked. Or slept.

I would highly suggest sharpening the color of the text and photoshopping the background image so that it is much darker, or better still, do away with it altogether. It would go a long way to avoiding criticism by complete strangers, which I would imagine isnt fun when you're "world weary".
