What is the best remake you've seen?
Are there any other Americanized remakes based on Asian horror movies that you know of?
Here is a list so far:
Ringu (1998) [Japan] - The Ring 1 & 2 (2002 & 2005)
Ju-on: The Grudge (2003) [Japan] - The Grudge 1 & 2 (2004 & 2006)
Honogurai mizu no soko kara (2002) [Japan] - Dark Water (2005)
Gin gwai (2002) [Hong Kong] - The Eye (2008)
Geoul sokeuro (2003) [South Korea] - Mirrors (2008)
Chakushin ari (2003) [Japan] - One Missed Call (2008)
Kairo (2001) [Japan] - Pulse (2006)
Shutter (2004) [Thailand] - Shutter (2008)

Hmm...I d say Grudge pt 1 remake was the best of the lot.
The rest have been largely misses, very few hits.

Either The Grudge or The Ring.
I'd say The Ring, just because the pace was too slow in Ringu. But the scares in ringu worked a lot better, of course..

None at the moment. Asian horror movies is not that scary anymore in the remakes.

the Grudge Remake was great.
The Ring remake was the film that introduced me (and many others) to the genre - and i thought it was extremely effective.
to be honest - i didnt think The Eye remake was that bad.

The Grudge remake was all class. A creepy as fuck flick that way to many people don't bother checking out because its a "Americanized remake". Oh well their loss.
Didn't mind The Ring remakes but they weren't anything special.
Haven't seen any of the others.

I thought that The Grudge remake was incredibly affective - Clean, well-directed. I felt as though Takashi Shimizu too, a chance to edit and (in my opinion), improve on his original film.
There were scenes in The Grudge that honestly really creeped me out and stuck with me. It's one of my favorite horror movies to this day.
Also, I thought that Pulse was a pleasant surprise (though, to be fair, I haven't seen the original). It was significantly darker than I had anticipated (which is always nice for me) and the ending was great. I thought that Pulse was actually INCREDIBLY underrated when it came out. I would absolutely watch it again (though I should probably get around to watching Kairo one of these days).
I have no interest in seeing the remake of Shutter because the original was so incredibly brilliant that I can't possibly imagine that the remake would improve on it at all. As for the remake of One Missed Call, well, I pretty much feel the same way (though I liked Shutter significantly more than I did One Missed Call), not to mention, its remake looks pretty LAME. The Eye remake looks terrible, and I wasn't that big a fan of the original (great concept, but the execution could have been better).
As for Mirrors, from what I read, the remake isn't that closely related to the original film. I'll have to check out the original at some point.
