do any of you have the problem where some dvd's play ok, and then some movies change colors and the picture scrambles up?

like i can watch rambo, then when i try the exorcist everything goes to shits.

it's wierd because the movies that always scramble are warner brothers and universal films.

there real movies, not bootlegged so i dont know what the problem is.

anyone know how to fix it?

are they from a different region? I know what your describing because it happens when my video player is on. Maybe that's the problem? Can't think why a DVD would do it unless it's scratched or something?

its a conspiracy.

i remember one time i bought a edward scissorhands, tried it and got the same scramble results. i thought it was the dvd and took it back for a different one, and it did it agin.

i dont know why, but i touched under the disc with my hands all over and it worked.

that was a twentyeth century fox.

check your player model online and see if there are any possible firmware upgrades ..

or - it could just be that the player has compatability issues - or it's dying

i have about 8 different DVD players in the house - from expensive set top burners to a cheap old apex - never had these problems on any of them.

If it needs a firmware upgrade...how do you do that?

there will be an executable file available (on the support web page for the player) and you'll have to put it on a CD - then pop the CD in the player - and sometimes his a sequence of buttons ..

thats what i had to do to make my Apex region free.

this isnt available for all players though ...

probably more common with hi-def or blu-ray players where the technology (and codec) is still changing and firmware has to be upgraded to catch up.

i have a cheapo dvd player (mintek) i got back in 2001 for free with a cell phone. For the most part it is okay, but some dvds, there is no rhyme or reason to this, wont pause. in order to pause a movie, we have to hit menu, which is annoying as hell on a lot of movies (A Knight's tale has the menu from hell, it has a loud snippet of music that loops pver and over)

At the time, it was $100 when most were 200 to 500. i had one i actually bought for 250, and it used to over heat after 2 movies, ofrcing me to switch to the other one....

And I am hardly the kind of person who watches one movie and is happy.

my first DVD player was a divx player ..

anyone in the USA remember these ?

you 'rented' divx movies from circuit city - it billed your credit card every time you watched it - you never had to bring it back ..

(i dont believe they ever found a hack for it either)

someone was bringing these players up here and selling them in flea markets - because they played regular DVDs ..

i bought one for $250 at a time when the players were closer to $600 - 700 or more.. it worked for a long while before having problems ..

then i bought the APEX on ebay for $75 many years ago ... i bought that particular model because you could hack it to play region free plus it did PAL/NTSC..

it's still running but it stops from time to time and i have to reverse and forward to get it going ... only use that one for pal movies now.

If it does this with several dvd players, could it be possible that it is your cables or your TV that are the problem?

i dont think it's the cables, because one movie will be perfect then another is scrambled...it only does that on a few movies.which happen to be by the same company, like universal and 20th century fox.

All i know is I buy like $30-$50 DVD players and they all play my DVDs with quality fine enough for me..I hack the ones can etc... .I see no need to spend $75 or more on a dvd player. all i wanna do is watch the movie and I dont need it glowing in face. Unless its a Blue ray or HD DVD player ,then who the fuck cares.I really dont, as I would never waste my money on a BR or HD DVD player anyway. im fine with what i got .I have 1500 movies that all work on a regular DVD player, and thats fine. i mean its only a movie. My $40 Memorex and Phillips work fine along with my 2- 32 " sony tvs.and there not flat screens the big as fuck, and work great
