Anyone think anything recent has a shot at cult status? I think true horror fans will be talking about May for a long time to come, and Ginger Snaps has a lot of potential to become a midnight movie.

Are you kidding me? House of the Dead. Hehe. Cult classic for all the wrong reasons-the one's I like best.

No doubt about it--House Of The Dead was the best STV movie I ever saw on the big screen.

Yeah, the fact that it actually hit theaters brings it up a notch on the cult scale.

I would guess a zombie sword fight also has mucho cult appeal. Plus a horde of zombies attacking a rave. Can't beat that with a severed arm.
Never trust a moivie when in the first scene or so the main character gives lousy exposition by saying his girlfriend spends all her time trying to make the Olympic fencing team. That usaully means lame sword fight to ensue.
On the plus side--okay, I'm reaching here--the main zombie sword dude kinda reminded me of those death-cheating alchemists you always run into in Lovecraft (the guy in Cold Air, Joseph Curwen in Charles Dexter Ward, etc).

I cracked up b/c they only mentioned that once at the very beginning and they're expecting the average movie-goer to remember something so trivial for the final scene. Very funny.
The "music video" in the middle of the film also has something to do with it.

This is a given: Citizen Toxie. It surpassed parts 2 and 3 by far. It's the only sequel that's on par with the original.

Anyone ever see Chatter Box? It might be the ultimate cult movie, especially since it was shot on real 35 millimeter and stars a somewhat serious actress (I can name at least five of Rialson's other movies), and it's about a woman's singing...well, you get the idea.
