Ok so I'm sure those who saw the previews before The Dark Knight know what this is about or even those who have read the comic or know of it, it's coming out next year apparently but I really want to see this.

A couple of issues that I have with this movie:

I still have yet to read the graphic novel. I refuse to see the movie until I read the graphic novel in its entirety.
I'm slightly offput by what appears to be a CGI orgy; I envision Watchmen to be a bit more dark and gritty, not completely CGI-enhanced.
On top of that, the CGI looks like silly.

Most of the stuff in that book couldn't be anything but CGI...Dr. Manhattan would look really, really stupid if he was just a guy painted blue, but they seem to have done really good job on him with CGI.

I pretty much died and went to heaven when I saw the trailer - as if I needed to be even more pumped before watching Dark Knight. It looks like they visually captured the book PERFECTLY. They didnt really show off much else, but the visuals couldn't be better, and Rorschach's voice was dead on.

The only thing that I dont like so far - and I've been saying this ever since they released the casting - is that the guy playing Ozymandias looks like a pussy. I'm sure he must be a great actor for the part or else Snyder wouldn't have cast him, but man...Veidt is an Olympic caliber athlete. This guy looks like a strong breeze would take him out.

I definately do NOT know a site that may be posting it for free soon.
I just got the lesbian librarian to order it at the library for me. :D

as for this trailer. If you've read the graphic novel, you know how spot on and perfect the trailer looks. The movie sure as hell better live up to the epicness of the trailer or a lot of people are gonna be pissed.

Hate to say it, but he'd be perfect.

Pompous as Hell but full of charisma, pretty built/attractive, super-famous, has been known to be a very good actor (though we haven't seen any proof in years)...heck, he already IS Ozymandias.

Jude Law would have been a great choice as well...

But in all honesty, I have total faith in Snyder + co. Even though he looks wimpy, he HAS to be perfect...I know it in my heart of hearts, haha.

toms an ok actor but would have given the movie the wrong kind of hype and bad Scientology mojo.

Snyder will do us good. he's a fellow nerd. and judging on those clips I posted he did great. Used the same colours from the panels and everything.

Very cool piece. It's funny, when somebody does a film based on a book they have some play in what everything should look like but with comic books you really have a pretty solid set of visual rules you shouldn't break.

I just really like how the colours used in the movie are the same scheme as from the comic book. We did a unit in art class about colour schemes and I brought in my comic collection, and every one had to pick a comic, redraw a panel and illustrate where colours were and what scheme it was, what mood that gave off in context to the plot. It was a really interesting little project and taught me a lot.

A lot of the characters have similarities to more famous counterparts and quite a few are generic. The story started during WWII where they were putting teams together (ala The Avengers) and it's their personal stories and interaction that made the graphic novel so compelling. Night Owl (actually the 2nd Night Owl) has been long retired in the present setting of the movie.
The Comedian is actually a good guy, but it is a stretch calling the man himself that as he's deplorable. I believe it was Rorsarch that said he respected him the most because he knew the difference between good and evil, but he just didn't care.
My inner comic book geek has awoken for this. After 2 disappointing Punishers and a joke of a Judge Dredd movie, I finally have hope that one of the few comics I read religiously will me done correctly :D

Warner Bros., which has been riding high this year thanks in large part to The Dark Knight, received some potentially bad news today, when a judge refused to dismiss a lawsuit brought by rival studio 20th Century Fox over the rights to make a film adaptation of Watchmen.

Variety reports that, through a confusing set of circumstances, Fox has retained their original rights even after a 1994 turnaround for the project with producer Larry Gordon. At the time, Fox was to receive a buyout amount plus a cut of the profits if a movie was ever made. Fox has never received any cash, and this is where it gets dicey for Warner Bros.

One very messy solution is Fox attempting to block the release of the film in March of next year. They have, apparently, already filed a motion for an injunction to that effect. More than likely, though, Fox and WB will agree to a financial deal that would allow Fox to essentially sit back and let WB make the best movie they can, waiting for the truck of money to show up.

Cinematical points out that Warners was in a similar situation with The Dukes of Hazzard, although if they had played that one smart, the studio would have made the movie then forced people to pay them to keep it from being released. Not only would that venture have made them more money then, they'd probably still have some reserves to help pay off Fox now.

I'm not sure the release of Watchmen is really going to be threatened; studios tend to need each other from time to time and if there's a way to just siphon some of the profits - which I'm personally not sure Fox is entitled to at this point (the judge clearly disagrees) - then the lure of money will probably be enough to settle this.

Fucking Fox... This is the same mentality that leads them to sic lawyers on people who try to make mods for games based on intellectual property they own. An aliens mod for half-life was shut down, as was a stargate sg1 mod for hl2, all because Fox doesnt want anyone horning in on something they own even a small part of.

For the game mods, they even stood to make money, because a free game increases the exposure for their material... but they dont want people using any of it for free...

FUcking assholes. they have produced some of the greatest entertainment ever seen, but they cheapen it all with this attitude.
