The first movie I remember seeing is Child's Play, and I had a My Buddy doll that looked just like Chuckie. After watching it, I threw him in my sister's closet so that if it did come alive it wouldn't get me first.;)

the first monster I fixated on was The Creature from the Black Lagoon, and that was when I was a toddler, but the first movie I remember really fucking me up was The Blob which I saw on the 4 O'Clock movie when I was 5 years old.

Fright Night, House or Friday The 13th. Can't remember which one I saw first but it was one of those.

THE RAVEN with Lugosi and Karloff, stands out as a very early one. As does THE DEVIL RIDES OUT with scared the shit ou of me..

When I was younf the station BBC2 used to have a regular Friday night horror double bill. The first fil was usually a Universal film or an old B/W from around the 40s. The second was usually a colour one - often a Hammer film though I do remember SUperBeast being shown which I've never seen since..

Unfortuanally I used to fal asleep before the 2nd film started and I'd wake in my own bed pissed off I missed the Horror of Dracula or something similar :-)

House. I still remember watching it, I was like 5 or 6 years old. I had nightmares about that chopped up fat ghost lady for months. I watched it again recently and laughed because of how funny it was that that movie scared the bejesus out of me.

I'm not sure ..

when i was a kid my uncle and i used to watch the monster movie matinee that was on every saturday afternoon. Saw a lot of old B&W movies that scared the crap out of me then - would find them laughable now.

King Kong VS Godzilla was probably the 1st one in a theatre - more sci-fi i guess.

The Norliss Tapes (TV movie) was an early memory ..

Tales From the Crypt was an early one - in the theatre - and that one scared me so bad i went to the lobby and waited for it to finish.

funny to imagine it now :)

Oh, MAN this is a good question, but a tough one too... My dad was always into the old scifi films, so I saw a ton of those with him when I was younger.

Though the first movie that I remember scaring the HELL out of me...

Carnival of Souls.

http://brianbutko.files.wordpress.com/2008/03/ut_carnivalsouls.jpg

Psycho was also an early horror experience, though I still think that Carnival came first...

http://www.solarnavigator.net/films_movies_actors/film_images/Psycho_movie_poster_Janet_leigh.jpg

Other movies that creeped me out when I was younger:

The Thing From Another World (1951)
Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956)
The Invisible Man (1933)
The Wolf Man (1941)
The Haunting (1963)
House on Haunted Hill (1959)

I remember, back then, my Dad renting 2 movies...for the new VHS player he had bought.

The first one was Disney's Jungle Book, which I loved a lot (still love it). The other one, was Evil Dead. He made me go to bed before starting it, but I snuck back out (can you blame me for being totally fascinated by our new player?) and watched it behind the living room door.

A couple months later, he took me to watch Alien in the theater. And I loved that too. He noticed that I absorbed such horrific imagery calmly without flinching, and I guess he knew rightaway that I would be a serious horror buff.

Let me see. I do have memories of certain ones I saw waaaaaaay back.

I remember something with dinosaurs fighting each other. But this was such a long time back, I am not sure what the dinosaurs looked like. But the image of it was scary to me!

And I remember seeing some of the 1931 "Frankenstein" and noting what the inside of Frankenstein's la-BOR-atory looked like.

I would like to know what was the first horror movie you guys ever watched?

Mine was Dawn of the dead (1978) I remember getting my video player then me and my dad went to a local video shop and we rented Dawn of the dead intervision tape I loved that movie and watched it in the night with my parents and then again in the morning before it had to go back to the shop.Dawn was my favourite horror movie back then and still remains my favourite now.

First horror movie I ever saw was Octaman (1971).

Not sure how old I was - but I know I was really young. From then on, I loved horror films. I did see it a few years later, and even at a young age realised it was a crap film, but the damage was done.

The first horror movie i ever watched was A nightmare on elm street. My aunty had it on tape and i used to beg her every time i went round to watch it, she finally give in when i was around 9 years old and bunking off school ( as she had a soft spot for me, and to this day still does 13 years later ) I loved this movie so much the scene with Jonny Depp being swalloed by his own bed was my favorite and the blood splashing around the room. The first kill was great to. Ever since then ive been addicted to horror movies, i have a great collection that are my pride and joy ( pre-cet being the most tresaured )

My 3 earliest horror movie memories are the original House on Haunted Hill, Amityville 3D, and Child's Play. I can't seem to remember the order though.

The 6th Sense. I was probably 8 or 9 years old at the time, I remember it was when I was in grade 3 in elementary school and my parents went out on a date and I got stuck with a lame babysitter, she rented us a movie and ordered us a pizza and we watched this movie, couldn't sleep right for months! I was so scared!

First couple of Horror movies that I actually sat up and watched were pretty much all Franchise horror flicks.

1) The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation (1994) - I thought it was a pretty kick-ass horror film, I was only young when I watched it though.

2) Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers (1988) - Was also young when I watched it, but it scared me a whole lot more than the Friday the 13th movies did at the time.

3) Freddy Vs. Jason (2003) - Yes, I was twelve years old when this movie was released in theaters, Couldn't watch it until it was released on DVD though due to my age, loved it nonetheless and it was my entrance movie into the Friday the 13th franchise.

I think it was John Carpenter's "Christine", decent film, though book is much better, but movie never scared me. I also watched "the Unnamable" and the first part of "the Howling V" around the same time, but I prefer "Christine."

A Nightmare on Elm Street. My older sister and her friend rented it when it first came out on VHS. Scared the hell out of me.

I remember this one well. I was six years old and my teenage sister was having a sleep over, I was told to leave them alone but you know how that goes. I snuck downstairs after the parents went to bed, and they were all watching "The Last House on The Left". Terrified me!

I think it was The Creature From The Black Lagoon When I was about 5. I watched all the old horror flicks with my grandma and she loved to scare the shit out of me. There were so many back then they all run together, if not for her I wouldnt be the horror nut that I am. Learned things from her about the "Supernatural" that could break a person for the rest of their life. Ahh... Good Times.
