I'm about to spoil the whole story so be careful.
I know this is a long shot, but here goes. I read a short story years ago about a little boy who has an uncle that makes up this story about a horrible monster named "Mr. (something)". For the life of me I can not remember the name of the monster. I believe that the monster’s name is also the name of the story. Anyway, the uncle warns the boy not to tell anyone about this monster. As the story progresses, we lean that the uncle is very jealous of his brother, the little boys father, and wants him dead. The uncle then shoots the boy's father and makes it look like boy did it. He then convinces the boy that the monster did it and instructs him to tell everyone that it was the monster, not he, who killed his father. Of course no one believes the boy. The child is placed in a mental institution, the uncle goes on to marry his brother's wife, and all appears to have gone well for the uncle. At the end of the story, the uncle gets out of bed, and staring at him is the monster.
I have done a horrible job describing this story, but if anyone has any idea about what I'm talking about and can give me the name and author of the book, I will be eternally grateful.
