I hate to see Day of the Triffids go by, but I still remember seeing 2001 in a cinerama theatre in surround sound on its initial release. Those who have not seen the film on a gigantic Cinerama screen have not really seen the film. A real landmark in science fiction filmmaking.

it's funny - when i was a kid i was mesmerised by the psycadelic ride at the end ... but as an adult that effect is really boring and it is everything else that i find mesmerizing now ... especially the stark whiteness and the restrained pace.
