My partner and I are up for a gig - A feature film adaptation of GOOSEBUMPS!
We pitched them today and part of our presentation was a photo montage I made to illustrate the tone we're going for. You can see it here:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=7eQWxSh9-gM
it would be awesome if you guys could comment on it and mention how you'd love to see a CREEPSHOW-for-kids type movie! Just please don't let on that you know me or mention anything about HDC in the comments section!
Thank you all for your support - you rule!!!!
And yes I know I am a total whore, but how else am I going to get ahead in this town if I don't employ your help? If I get the gig, there will treats involved for you fine folks!

That actually seems like a really good idea. Like I say in my comment, I used to love the old show and all those things would have been scary or at least creepy for me as a (younger) kid.

I dunno if you were pushed for time but i think you could have made this a bit more 'grab em by the throat' - were u limited by copyright?

Which one, the doll heads? That was some artist - I just did a Google image search for dollheads and it popped up.
another one right around there was from MONSTER HOUSE, which I thought was really, really cool.
THANK YOU ALL for commenting. Please rate it highly too!

thanks, but I deleted your comment because it intoned that you knew me - I need "seemingly uncolicited" comments;)

Ah, that was the one I meant. Thank you. I might actually check out "Monster House" now having seen that picture.

I used to love Goosebumps as a kid. I watched it, commented it, and rated it 5 stars, Sean.
Good luck with it dude.

Done and done. I LOVED reading those books when I was younger. And I still have some vivid memories of the parts that creeped me out. Unfortunately I was a little too old when the show came out (I think it's kinda cheesy), but done by the right people, a proper movie would be great. Love the iconic images in the montage, too.
I'm curious - Why Youtube? Is pitching through Youtube a new thing now? Is this the new medium to pitch movie ideas? That's really interesting.

I pitched them in the office and played the vid on my computer in the meeting. Then I went home and emailed them a copy of the pitch and uploaded the vid on youtube so the producer could easily show it to the other producers involved (there are always other people involved)
I thought that a few good ratings and some positive comments might actaully sway a decisionmaker (moneyman) if he/she was on the fence. Couldn't hurt, right?
If it's a new process, it's because I made it a new process:D
I will certainly let you know if we get the job.

Good tactic. And good luck.
Do you know which book(s) you plan on adapting? Or is this just a general Goosebumps pitch?
How about a shout out for HDC after you get good and famous. Nothing big...maybe a little blurb in Fangoria or something.

we created a framework that could support any of the Goosebumps stories (can't go into any more detail than that)
I wouldn't tell you all of it, but we used several tales including my favorite, "Stay Out of the Basement" as prime examples of stories that work within our structure, but there are also allusions to "Night of the Living Dummy", "Monster Blood", "Welcome to the Dead House", "One Day at Hororland" and others to make a comprehensive Goosebumps world.

Sure Rod, I can tell them how you molested me as a child in a monster outfit, oh, no, that's another story.
Actually I went for more of a moronic you tube comment to make it seem authentic.
I'm steplo01 by the way, good luck.

I remember One Day at Horrorland vividly... I think that was my absolute favorite one... Except the end was cheesy, if I recall. Sometimes the endings were a bit contrived (I remember Welcome to Camp Nightmare being GREAT - except for the end).
I also remember Say Cheese and Die, especially the end.

The more and more I think about it the more I know they HAVE to give you the job. I think a lot of different kind of people would go see a movie if it were to be made.

oh, wow. rod, that looks like a blast.
i love the old time halloween feel the video had. that's my favorite stuff.
and was that a still of the ouija board menu from "the 7th guest" i saw?
i think it was.
i used to play the crap out of that game.
at any rate, i really really really hope this works out, as a former member of the official goosebumps fan club and all...

thanks for the support, everyone. it is truly appreciated.
The odds certainly are against us, as several big name writers are also vying for this job and the producers aren't certain which path to take, but my partner and I are trying our damnedest to get the gig.
It's about the same as auditioning for a role as an actor - even if you're really good, it doesn't mean you'll get the role - it is still very much a popularity contest that is subject to the producers' whimsy...
which is why we're planning on producing and directing our next (non-horror) movie. But don't worry, even though it isn't horror, it's still the most violent thing we've written;)
-well I'm of to Vegas, have a good weekend everyone!

Well, if you do get this, please include Slappy the dummy. His books creeped me out the most out of all of them. Also the one with yellow space slime from an egg.
Only trouble with slappy is it might be seen as a bit Chucky-ish.
