Really? Is Night Stalker what comes to mind when you think of Matheson?

Nope - actually I am Legend does but i've never read the book (shame on me) - I do love the Last Man on Earth though..To be honest I'm not a huge horror reader. I love Lovecraft and related stuff but weirdly enough never was a huge reader of the genre.

But with regards to film related stuff yup - those and lLegend of Hell house.

Vampira's awesome!!

Love 'I Am Legend'; why do you think I'm so upset with the latest movie??! Can't they make that film correctly? (Last Man on Earth was done very well, so why can only the Italian's do Matheson justice?) Hell House was a good book and an all right movie (they only thing they took out was the sex)

What else about me...huge Vincent Price fan, Tim Burton fan, uh...I only watch horror film from the sixties to the eighties as in my opinion they were the greatest!!! Now...it's...gore and that's it! Oh, and I hate Gus Van Sant for remaking 'Psycho'...mainly cause he made it so disgustingly (I feel protective towards the classics)

Oh! And! I love Blade from 'Puppet Masters'!! Only puppet I'm not scared of strangely

Well I love the golden age of the Universal films in the 30's and 40's - so you're missing out a lot by not watching those classics.

As for modernt movies been all gore - not so. Try some of Guillermo del Toro and alot of the Korean/Japanese horror rely more on suspense and atmosphere than gore.

Yeah I'm starting to watch alot of overseas horror insteadof just the American; right now I'm looking at the Asian, and so far I haven't seen a bad film by them

Welcome aboard.

60's-80's did produce some great films, some of my favourites were made during this period.

The late 60's heralded a switch to much more gritty and realistic horror films, many of which remain quite effective to this day. Not to say there wasn't a lot of junk made during this period as well - but as time goes on the junk tends to be forgotten and we get a "distilled" view of a time period, where it is often judged mainly on the good films that emerged.

This will probably happen with the last decade or so's films too, given time.
