View Full Version : THE INCREDIBLE HULK is a horror ...

It is a horror movie. It has elements of
DR JEKYLL AND MR HYDE, FRANKENSTEIN,KONG and ,most of all, monster fighting almost as good as the king of all monsters,GODZILLA!!! When the HULK and the ABOMINATION tie into it, it's like a battle royal that Inoshiro Honda would be proud of. Don't give me any crap about this not being a horror movie; it's as much of a horror movie as any GODZILLA film and almost as good! It is a horror movie in the classic 50's sense. This post does not need to be moved; the INCREDIBLE HULK is a great monster/horror movie right out of the 50's.

I gotta tell ya, this movie sounds more and more interesting to me.
I was not too thrilled about the first movie, but I am willing to give this one a chance because it is a different team with different (and many would say better) actors.
Hmm!

This one might be worth seeing... I'll wait to hear a few more opinions though.

I promise you the movie is definitely worth the price of admission. It was lots of fun and a million times better then Ang Lee's version.
i sooo wanted to love Ang Lee's version but like most people absolutely hated it - just silly stuff - i do hate ed norton but my love for the hulk will overcome that and i will be heading out to see it!

i do hate ed norton
Really? Why? Not to derail the thread or anything but I think Norton is pretty decent. He doesn't have a lot of charisma but hey, he's no Shila Bouf (sp).
he ALWAYS has a smirk on his face. i can't stand that little smirk. i think he is WAY overrated as an actor. and i HaTeD him in the Red Dragon film - arrghh - that was the breaking point for me!

Ok, just wondering, I haven't "loved" him in anything really but I liked him in a few movies including Fight Club and The Score. I stayed away from Red Dragon, never been a fan of the series anyway.
the sad part is i ususally want to like the films he's in - but just have trouble getting past his little smirky face (oooh i want to punch him soooo bad!!)

Because he's a little bitch! Who is asking to get hit by a monkey.
No, actually I think he's a decent actor.
really? i think maybe some actors have little 'tricks' and sometimes you like those tricks but after you see through them then they just become mannerisms (like DeNiro or Hoffman) i guess i just don't like norton's mannerisms (and he's a little bitch!)

The show I attended last night was less than halfway sold out; I hope the budget wasn't 200,000,000; I think positive word of mouth will keep this film going, but I don't think it had a huge opening. Maybe ,I'm wrong, I hope. It's really a fun monster mash.

They're trying... the most recent tv commercial I saw had Stark's cameo (his only one?) in it to try and capitalize on Iron Man's success.

The budget is 150 milion and the one day Friday gross is 21 million; it should not have a huge drop because most people liked it. The Ang Lee HULK movie had one of the largest second week drops in film history; this film should hold on much better because people are generally pleased with it. Word of mouth is very good on this ; it was deadly on the first one. Bring on BATMAN BEGINS II!
i predict about 52 million opening weekend - probably gross a bit over 200 mil domestic - hopefully it will do much better overseas (which it should if its not so dense as Lee's)

The movie was AWESOME! I just got back from the theater and I want to smash everything in sight!
They even managed to work in a cameo from the late Bill Bixby:D

A cameo from Bixby? What, is someone watching "My Favorite Martian" on TV, or something like that?

Yes..something quite like that.

Omigosh, did I guess that one on the nose?
I guess I am in the minority when I say that Edward Norton is a GREAT actor. Have you all seen some of his movies like Fight Club, American History X, Primal Fear, Rounders, 25th hour, etc.? It's not a surprise to me that Hulk is getting great reviews.

There s a scene from THE COURTSHIP OF EDDIE'S FATHER. It's a short clip, but not so short that you will easily miss it. Boxofficemojo.com says that audiences gave THE INCREDIBLE HULK a B+. The Ang Lee film only got a C rating from the audience; A 54 million gross for the weekend is very good This film will have legs. The Marvel brand is sound. However, I think BATMAN BEGINS: THE DARKNIGHT will be the top comicbook film of the summer.

The fact that Edward Norton is in this movie is the driving force behind my desire to see it. I agree, he is a great actor.
For the record:

- The Incredible Hulk $54,538,000
2 1 Kung Fu Panda $34,321,000 $117,998,000

4 2 You Don't Mess With the Zohan $16,400,000 $68,790,000
5 3 Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull $13,547,000 $275,329,000

Don't forget a cameo by the great Rickson Gracie:

OK - so i saw Incredible Hulk today and I'd say i agree with most of the reviewers. Its better than the Ang Lee version - but not great (no where near as good as Iron Man or Spiderman). I liked some of the little fanboy flairs (I'll avoid the spoilers but there are some great ones and the now famous iron man cameo is priceless).
The main problem is the writing - and since ed norton apparently took over the script I blame him. Many of the lines aren't just clunky but they just clang out of the actors. I think part of this problem is trying to make the focus on the tragic Bruce Banner character. This could work but doesn't here and most of us just wanted to see HULK SMASH.
The other problem is the c.g. Hulk - he just looks like a cartoon character and I think the problem is not just in the technology but in the way Hulk is shown on-screen. He just looks odd.
But, all that said, i did enjoy the film (Tim Roth was great and the action scenes were pretty cool). And i'm really looking forward to the Avengers build-up (although I'll be honest that I really can't see a THOR movie - I just can't see it not looking silly - but who knows).

I also saw it and enjoyed it. Much better then the Ang Lee version but I did like that one as well. I would rank it the same as IronMan, maybe even a little better.

I was quite impressed. Edward Norton was a great choice for Bruce Banner and Tim Roth put a great slant on the Abomination. Thoughtful and exciting.
still not a fan of ed norton - but i did like Tim Roth (although, c'mon people - surely some of those inane lines of dialogue clanged in your ears as well)
what i thought was really cool about Roth is that i just watched the remake of Funny Games, in which he was so ineffectual and weak and it actually took me a bit to realize it was the same actor - great performance

The Second version of the Incredible Hulk has to better than the first!! The first movie, in my opinion was boring as hell. I even saw the first one in the theaters- What a waste of time. I kept watching thinking to myself, it's gonna get better, it never did!! Agree with me or not, thats just the way I feel. The second movie has no where to go but up from the first Crappy Hulk Movie!! I just hope it's as good as the trailer makes it out to be! I'm waiting for video, so I won't be disappointed!! For those of you who paid to see the second one in theaters, I truly hope it was worth it!! Happy Slashing All !!

I loved it. One of the few PG-13 movies that can really harness badassness. the final fight was awesome. Alot of super hero movies have the bad guy way more powerful and badass than the good guy, which sucks, but both the hulk and the abomination kicked complete ass,

It was worth it. I was hesitant at first as well but it was really awesome on the big screen.
