this thread is for the apperciation of the talent and scriptwriting abilty of the makers of the saw series for me it was these films that pushed me to want to write my own scripts, one of the reasons i love the films so much is the moral message they put into it" LOVE LIFE RESPECT LIFE" granted that comes from a killer but if u look deeper Jigsaw wants people to pass his tests so they grow and see a different outlook on life

The Saw movies are some of my favorites, but mostly due to the original "torture" or "puzzles". But, unfortunately of course...continually making sequels (yeah I know..it's money) makes the original lose it's "wow" factor for me. (It's the exact reason why I shake my head at Jason/Michael/Freddy!)

Exactly how I feel about the Saw movies. I loved the first one, liked the second one, hated the third one, and now I'm refusing to watch the fourth one.

They should instead call Saw 5 "Beating A Dead Horse". Because that's what they've been doing since Saw 2. And I feel it's about time they do a title change-over. When I saw the Saw 4 trailer and heard "If it's Halloween, it must be Saw" I wanted to puke in my popcorn. You may as well be influenced by the writers of Final Destination.

I've enjoyed them all. Not the fourth as much as the first mind you but even 4 was fun. One of the better franchises I've seen emerging recently, even though with movie fans a franchise might as well be called a "reason to bitch about sequels".

I love franchises. I love sequels.
But... Saw just isn't a very good franchise/doesn't produce very good sequels. I'm not "bitching", I don't CARE that it sucks, it just does.
But, kudos to you for enjoying it. That's all that counts.

Saw 1 - One of the best in the 2000's
Saw 2 - Meh. Okay I guess
Saw 3 - Yeh. Coz that's exactly what made people love the first one. The gore not the suspense and constant suprises.
Saw 4 - Have yet to risk.

I wasn't talking about you specifically.
You're still to new to have my full attention. ;)

Saw 4 - Have yet to risk.
If you didn't like #3, I'd avoid #4 at all costs - they really hinge off each other.

I have enjoyed all the Saw films. Obviously the first more so than the rest just due to it being so new and original. I think the story has been developing and growing throughout the films brilliantly and the 4th left me with many questions I hope will be answered in the 5th. Normally I get bored after a second film but will watch the 3rd after that I am no longer interested, Saw has kept me interested and eager to see more.

*SEMI SPOILER*
I thought the timing of 4 was great because it didn't push itself too far past 3 and now a sequel can play off the events of both films.

Exactly!
The timing is damned great.
You watch 4 expecting to get further along and allow the story travels greatly you are really still back at 3, leaving you still wanting to see more, know more.
For me 3 and 4 lead brilliantly up to 5 and I just cannot wait for more.
