Okay, here's a topic I would like to hear some opinions on.
Now, by definition, a date movie is a movie that is suitable for watching on a date with a new prospective amour, something with sentiments that might be arguably said to bring people closer together and inspire feelings of warmth and good humour. Nothing too offensive, generally speaking. But with an audience that likes horror films, well, the definition might become more flexible.
Do you have any horror date movies that have worked well for you in the past? Something that the two of you went to see, or maybe something you pulled off the shelf?
Gimme your personal examples! These are my personal examples, fer instance:
Horror date movie:
King Kong
Night of the Comet
The Blob
Shaun of the Dead
Not a horror date movie:
Night of the Living Dead
I Spit On Your Hoochie Poochie
Fiend Without A Face
Rabid
I think it would depend on your date. She could be a total gorehound,
I think it would be a safe bet NOT to take your pregnant date to see "Inside".

Return of the Living Dead!

Requiem For a Dream! That's a date movie... right?

HA
...
My current boyfriend LOVES horror movies. Our going-to-the-movies dates include:
Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning
Resident Evil
28 Weeks Later
Diary of the Dead
2007 After Dark Horrorfest
And leading up to our dating we would rent SCORES of horror movies (Slither, FEAST).
I'm lucky that I have a guy who likes gore.

Requiem For a Dream!
Thanks for the reminder. This was like a pseudo-date I went on with a guy I was crushing on in college.
...
NEITHER of us had context or had ever heard of the film... It's not a good movie to wander in on on a whim without any frame of reference... Both of us felt... dirty afterwards.
My first date with my now wife was at the drive-in. "The Island of Dr. Moreau [1977]" was playing with "The Bad News Bears".....weird double feature...I know.
I parked in the back of the drive-in so I could pee in the bushes....she had to walk all the way to the refreshment stand.....I'm very romantic.

NOW you're showing your age...
I went to see the Island of Dr. Moreau remake on a date with a high school summer boyfriend... And he tried to get into my pants...
Gentlemen: Island of Dr. Moreau is not a panty-grabbing movie.

Maybe he was frightened, and just checking to see if you were one of those Moreau creations.
Happens sometimes, ya know.

nah :)
i just never dated ... i had a lot of girlfriends - but they were all 'friends' first ..
we'd hang out - with no intention of dating - but if it turned out that we liked each other - we'd be a couple - just like that.
i had a couple of set ups by friends in the past but i hated the situation so much they were complete failures ... the idea of sitting alone with someone over a dinner i dont know doesnt appeal to me.
(if i dont like someone - i have no ability to hide it)
irreversible
(i am SO just kidding)

I actually know what you mean... I just liked to picture your lickity lick monster clubbing a woman over the head.
...
*ahem*
I'm the same way - I've really only "dated" (as in "gone on dates with people I didn't really know) a couple of times, but they didn't go very far.
All of my other relationships were friends that just... worked out well. :) That's what happened with me and my current beau. I met him at work, became fast best friends and, well...
Yeah... :D

Well, I can only say that this was in 1986, June, I think, and at some point the movie became very dull and uninteresting and we turned it off. Never finished watching the damn thing!
