View Full Version : Have you Ever taken a Suggestion here....

and had it become a bigger part of your viewing life than you would have imagined ?

due to The Return's endorsement for Futurama some time ago - i gave ther series a chance after writing it off unseen.

the whole family is addicted to it now and my kid especially - who watches it every day after school and can repeat 20 min worth of dialogue verbatim from certain episodes. (which is impressive but annoying as hell)

anyone else here ever pick something up on someone elses suggestion (that you wouldnt have otherwise) and absolutey go nuts for it ?

I'm just shocked that you had never watched Futurama before...We have every episode

We also have the movie...Have you bought Bender's Big Score?...They're supposed to be making more movies, too.

I'm still thinking about your question...Not coming up with anything yet...But, I don't usually watch television either, just dvds/vhs

yep - we have all 4 boxsets and the movie.

i even collected the bloody toys which are impossible to find (or very $$$$$ when you do)

but when we started watching it - and finished season 4 - i went out to buy the next season only to find out it had been cancelled ages ago.

Yeah, that's why they're making the movies, I can't believe it was cancelled...That made absolutely no sense

But...Invader Zim was ended, too...You just never know what's gonna happen

Glad I can be blamed for creating another Futurama lover :D

As for me: Firefly. I thought it looked kind of cool, but without the shining endorsement from Cheeb/Phalanx, it probably would have gone done with the million other shows that I pass by on the shelves, thinking they look cool but knowing I'll never have time to watch 'em.

BUT I did make time for Firefly, and I'm so, SO glad that I did. Right up there with The Twilight Zone for my favourite TV show of all time (for totally different reasons, of course). The writing is snappy and smart, the characters are incredibly well acted and developed, the stories are engrossing...it's just about perfect. Serenity isn't quite as good, but it's still pretty damn awesome.

Thanks Cheeb:)

I pick up movies that i've never even heard of until someone on here mentions them.
Return suggested Big Trouble in Little China(i think thats right)and i really liked it.
I never hear of many tv shows.

There are TONS of em...I ll stick to the main ones...

Urge's suggestions of The Keep and Phantasm - both flicks grew on me and I like them both.

Newb asking me to give Bubba Ho Tep a spin (after my initial reluctance), and boy did I love it.

Alky's and Return's recommendations of Lorre's M, b/w classics and modern masterpieces...

Dante's Angel recommendation...I love the entire series.

More recently, Fortunato & NE...Rayne & Jenna with their love for bad horror flicks...

All I can say is, thanks you guys. :)

I wrote scrubs and friends off without seeing them too. Now they're two of my favourite shows because of a friend! And I recommend them to people whenever I can. But family guy is better. And futurama is better than the simpsons. But the simpsons is still good. Behind south park.

Urge turned me onto Cemetery Man and Jacques Tati's films.

I think it was STE a few years ago who was praising Equilibrium...watched
it...loved it.
