With Iron Man less than a week away from release, director Jon Favreau has been doing the publicity rounds, and let some interesting titbits of information slip regarding the fuuture of the franchise this afternoon.

Speaking to Rotten Tomatoes, Favreau said: "I've got another two movies in my head and I'm ready to go and I know the cast feels the same way. Now it's out of the hands of us, of the filmmakers, and it's even out the hands of your readers. I know all the people who have been following this for two years are going to go and see the movie, and maybe they'll see it twice and I'm very grateful for that. If everybody comes out to see the movie and it's successful, then I'm sure Marvel's going to want to do another."

As for the cross-pollination of the Marvel franchises, like Iron Man's forthcoming cameo in The Incredible Hulk, Favreau said the producers are definitely keen. "They're not sharing control with a studio like Sony or Fox which is the arrangement they'd had in the past," he explained. "As certain characters revert back to them they're self-financing these projects which gives them the ability to combine characters if you want to."

IGN also spoke to Terrence Howard, who had his own cryptic comments regarding the future of his character – Jim Rhodes. In the film (BIG SPOILERS AHEAD), he looks at Tony Stark's spare Iron Man suite and says to himself "next time baby".

We assumed this meant he would don the War Machine suit in the next outing, but here's what the actor had to say about the line: "The beautiful thing about Marvel is that they've always stuck with the tradition of staying truthful to the comics and loyal to the fans.

"If you've read the comics you'll know that that is the next phase, but there is another intermediate phase in there where he would have to put on his best friend's suit for a period of time."

Fans of the comics will know that, due to Tony Stark's alcoholism, Rhodes is eventually forced to don the armour and become Iron Man in place of Stark, though he soon begins to get headaches, his behaviour becomes more erratic, and he eventually goes on the rampage.

Stark is then forced to build himself another suit to stop his friend. Possible plot for Iron Man 2?

Yesterday, ‘’Iron Man’’ director Jon Favreau mentioned on his MySpace page that he’s yet to officially sign on for the sequel – in fact, he hasn’t heard from anyone at Marvel for 5 weeks.

Considering ‘’Iron Man 2’’ has already got a release date (April 2010), that’s a bit unsettling.

According to IESB, the reason Favreau hasn’t been contacted in so long about the film – despite the fact he’s supposedly ‘in negotiations’ (according to Marvel) – is that they might be forging ahead without him.

“About a week ago, the IESB was tipped off by a junior source at Marvel Studios that there had been some delays with Jon's negotiations regarding the sequel. When asked why I was told that Marvel and Favreau hadn't been able to come to terms regarding money.

At first I thought my source was bluffing and I dismissed it as a rumor. This last Friday I was contacted by another source at Marvel and this one, let's just say, is much higher up on the food chain, and told me that the chairman of Marvel Studios David Maisel who has been in charge of negotiating new terms with Favreau is being cheap and not willing to pay a fair directors' fee.’’

Brett Ratner is no doubt waiting in the wings.

There was quite an uproar online earlier this week when it was reported that Marvel Studios might not be willing to meet Iron Man director Jon Favreau's fee to helm the sequel and that they would reportedly go with a different and less expensive director.

What a difference 48 hours makes ...

According to Deadline Hollywood Daily columnist Nikki Finke, "Marvel Studios boss David Maisel very recently put out an offer to Jon Favreau to direct the sequel and that the offer is 'definitely' richer than what the helmer received for the original. Even so, the negotiation has only just begun. So all that Internet blather about how Marvel doesn't want to bring back Favreau because the studio is lowballing him is just b.s."

But IESB, the site which first reported on the Marvel-Favreau dust-up (followed by Ain't It Cool News), counters that Marvel only made the offer to Favreau after the online brouhaha began. They cite as evidence the fact that Favreau himself said on June 9th that he hadn't heard from Marvel about the sequel in five weeks.

They better pay the fucking man. Iron Man was amazing and if they didn't bring back everyone involved then the second one would most likely suck a giant penis.

I am glad they are now negotiating.

Although he has not yet been signed to direct the sequel, Iron Man director Jon Favreau has been blogging who fans might expect to see menace Shellhead in Iron Man 2.

In a posting at his MySpace blog, Favreau revealed that "The Mandarin is Iron Man's nemesis and will be incorporated in the sequel. It's true that I am apprehensive about how he is to be presented. In the tech based modern world that we created for (Iron Man), a Fu Manchu style villain with magical/alien tech rings would seem out of place."

Favreau added, "There were early drafts of (Iron Man) where the Mandarin was the main villain, so we've already explored the character to some extent. I am curious to see how he has been treated in his latest books and how that might influence our direction."

He also said, "I've already mentioned War Machine and Mandarin. I have some ideas, but I really need to sit down with Downey and the Marvel guys before we say much more." And when asked about the chances of Obadiah Stane returning (SPOILER ALERT) despite his apparent death at the end of the first film, Favreau quipped, "Stane's death? Do characters ever really die in Marvel? Isn't it like a soap opera?"

When asked about the report that claimed the Hulk might pop up in Iron Man 2 (just as Tony Stark did in The Incredible Hulk), Favreau replied, "There are no plans to do so."

im glad to see they appear to be back on track with Favreau. too too many movies are getting sequals that are little more than testing projects for inadequate and inexperienced directors. Like oh, say... the hills have eyes, 28 days later (i liked 28 weeks later, a lot, but that was definitly not a danny boyle movie), hell even robocop.

i just really can't see 'Thor' as a movie character - if Favreau is uncomfortable with 'alien ring technology' then how is he going to work in a Norse God of Thunder? I also can't picture an on-screen Thor that wouldn't look silly - remember the Incredible Hulk TV Movie in which Thor appeared - oh my god was that goofy

I have complete faith in Marvel at this point...they're planning a Thor movie as part of the whole Avengers franchise, and even though I fully agree that it'll be damn hard to make him semi-realistic/not cheesy, I really think that they'll be able to pull it off.

I don't see why a big muscley guy with long blonde hair and a helmet would look any sillier onscreen than this:

The difference being that the Hellboy franchise never even attempted to be realistic.

Both Iron Man and (from what I can tell as I've yet to see it) The Incredible Hulk try to present these fantasy/sci-fi stories as though they could actually happen, and try to make everything look and feel as realistic as possible. Considering Thor is part of the announced Avengers franchise that Marvel is working on, it only makes sense that they'll go the realism route with him as well.

That approach really poses a problem when you take in to account that his backstory happens to be that he's the son of a Norse god...but hey, who knows. I'm sure they'll pull it off somehow.

Well, the "Norse Gods" can just be a race of alien beings that were viewed as gods in the past.

Doesn't seem any more far fetched than gamma rays turning you into a big green super thing.

i've got to stand by the notion that Thor is unfilmmable - Hellboy had a clear comic aesthetic (not quite as much as Sin City - but not really visually in our reality) Iron Man and, to a lesser extent, Hulk do. I'd say the same for the current cinematic version of The Thing - the suit is SO clearly visible you can see the seams bulge - but in the cheezy aesthetic of the 2 FF films its ok - its meant to be a bit goofy. IM and Hulk are a different atmosphere and so Hellboy or Thing or Thor would/will just look silly. Spiderman would work - but not the others IMHO

Maybe the "Norse Gods" are actually discovered to not have been Gods, they were just worshiped as them for they're group of old super beings from a tribe where they were bred in such away it meant after a few generations they had a race of super humans. Thor could be a direct descendant of the one in the tribe they called Thor. He discovers his heritage, discovers he has powers and adopts that as his name. Heck, the hammer could be technological.

Is there anyone here who's read The Ultimates?

I've yet to check it out myself, but supposedly it puts a semi-realistic spin on the Avengers characters - anyone know how they treated Thor?

EDIT - Looked it up on Wikipedia...heres what I came up with:

Ultimate Thor is referred to as once being a psychiatric nurse called Thorlief Golmen, until he suffered a nervous breakdown before his 30th birthday. He spent 18 months institutionalized, during which time he claims to have realized who he is and why he has been sent to Earth. He claimed to be Thor, Norse god of thunder, on a mission to save the planet. His political and social activism, as well as his own self-help books, attracted rebellious teenagers and conspiracy theorists. He has spoken against America's military aggression against other world powers and the military-industrial complex. However, the truth behind these statements is questionable, as they came from characters aligned with or later revealed to be Loki, a reality-changing Norse god.

Well, it might work that way...kind of.

Marvel has handed the armor over to Justin Theroux, who will pen the sequel to "Iron Man."

The comicbook giant's film division is close to a deal to bring back helmer Jon Favreau and star Robert Downey Jr. for the pic it hopes to release in April 2010.

Theroux, a thesp-scribe best known for roles in "Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle" and HBO's "Six Feet Under" and miniseries "John Adams," most recently wrote the DreamWorks comedy "Tropic Thunder," which Paramount will unspool next month.

In addition to writing and appearing in "Tropic Thunder," Theroux also exec produced The Laffer, which stars Ben Stiller, Downey and Jack Black. He recently made his directing debut on "Dedication," which the Weinstein Co. distributed.

"Iron Man," released in May, has earned more than $314 million at the domestic box office and collected another $252 million overseas.

It was Marvel Studios' first self-financed pic, distributed by Par, so it's no surprise that the studio is looking to get another installment into theaters as quickly as possible.

Marvel Studios, however, isn't being quick to confirm any deals around the project, saying it doesn't comment on rumors.

On Tuesday, August 19, 2008, the Los Angeles Times reported that Jon Favreau is already hard at work on Iron Man 2, the sequel to this summer's first comic book blockbuster.

Speaking to Times blogger Geoff Boucher, Favreau said "we're working on it now, which hasn't been officially announced. It will be released in 2010."

The film's 2010 release date was previously announced by Marvel Studios, who intends to include the sequel in their forthcoming slate of films. But even though the time crunch will challenge Favreau to finish the film on time and budget – a goal he has met with every previous film he shot – the limitation may mean an unexpected opportunity for sites like IGN, and ultimately, the fans themselves: Favreau will likely be shooting a lot of the film in California.

Currently Favreau is partnering with California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger to set up tax breaks and incentives for filmmakers who elect to shoot in the state, and that may mean that Iron Man 2 will make its home there as well – which might make it easier for journalists to attend set visits and see shooting as the production gets in full swing.

More news as they come in.

I don't see why Thor is any more far-fetched than the Silver Surfer or Galactus. As was mentioned before, incorporating 'gods' into a storyline might be a bit out of the ordinary, but aliens are easily incorporated. They've already had the alien symbiote in SM3. And, in the same way that they didn't really explain the origin of Galactus or the symbiote, they don't need to fully explain the origin of Thor.

He's just a dude who found a hammer.

Seems most of our overseas colleagues got to talk to "Iron Man" director Jon Favreau today - at the film's DVD/Blu-Ray Press Conference - and Favs let slip some rather funky news about the inevitable sequel.

'Frosty' from Collider writes, "...the highlight was Jon saying he’d love to do Iron Man 2 in 3D! He also called the IMAX “Dark Knight” footage a game changer and he said he’d love to shoot part of “Iron Man 2” in IMAX. Regarding the 3D, he said it’s all about the cost, but if they can make it happen he’d like to do it. He talked about getting to see the armor in 3D and how cool it would be."

Story-wise, CHUD discovered that War-Machine may make an appearance in the sequel. ''Favreau said that he very much wants War Machine in the second film. He said that Rhodey had a smaller than anticipated role in the first movie and that he would like to rectify that''.

As for the film's villain? ''- The Mandarin is the overarching, behind the scenes villain of Favreau's planned trilogy, but he's very aware of how hard it is to keep a character like that cool. He compared it to The Emperor from Star Wars - when you first see him, you're blown away that Darth Vader is bowing down to someone but by Jedi you just want The Emperor to shut up. And by Clone Wars he's a sidekick.''

UK, January 5, 2009 - Iron Man 2 will revolve around the nature of identity, according to screenwriter Justin Theroux.

He told MTV his thoughts for moving the sequel on from the first instalment: "The obvious thing to improve upon - well, it's not even an improvement it's just something to embrace - which is that he's now a hero that lives in the real world. That's unique."

He is referring the to the fact that

(*****SPOILER ALERT*****)

Tony Stark revealed to all at the end of the first movie that he was the iron-clad super-hero, with the script for Iron Man 2 seemingly set to resolve around the problems this brings up.

This aspect of the character, says Theroux, is "something that we've made a real decision to run towards rather than away from."

Putting that piece of news up in fine print...

In what would mark his first studio film since resurrecting his career with "The Wrestler," Mickey Rourke is in talks to play the main heavy in "Iron Man 2," the Marvel Entertainment sequel that director Jon Favreau begins shooting this spring.

Sam Rockwell also has begun talks to play a villain in the pic, to be distribbed by Paramount Pictures in summer 2010.

Which role Rockwell will play has yet to be disclosed by Marvel, but Rourke is in discussions to play the Crimson Dynamo, a heavily tattooed Russian arms dealer. He's considered to be an evil version of Iron Man because he battles the superhero in a nuclear-powered suit of armor.

Script is still being written by Justin Theroux, and Marvel has been trying to keep a wrap on details leaking out to fanboys.

Rourke goes into the Golden Globes weekend vying for best actor in a role that revived his career. Robert Downey Jr. soared to become one of the most bankable stars in Hollywood when "Iron Man" grossed more than $600 million worldwide.

Rockwell most recently appeared in "Frost/Nixon" and "Choke."

Samuel L. Jackson has dropped a bombshell: he just might not be back to play Nick Fury in Iron Man 2 or The Avengers.

Jackson, who made a cameo as the director of S.H.I.E.L.D. at the end of the first Iron Man, told the Los Angeles Times that he heard from his representatives last week that things weren't going so well. "There was a huge kind of negotiation that broke down. I don't know. Maybe I won't be Nick Fury," Jackson said.

He continued, "Maybe somebody else will be Nick Fury or maybe Nick Fury won't be in it. There seems to be an economic crisis in the Marvel Comics world so [they're saying to me], 'We're not making that deal.'"

A Marvel spokesperson advised the paper that the studio "does not comment on active negotiations."

No word yet on who might replace Jackson if the role of Fury is recast, but we all know that Terrence Howard is available. Oh, snap!

With Mickey Rourke and Sam Rockwell negotiating to play key villains in "Iron Man 2," Marvel Entertainment and director Jon Favreau are now looking for the right thesp to play femme fatale Black Widow, another nemesis for Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark.

Emily Blunt has emerged as the frontrunner to play Natasha Romanoff in the "Iron Man" sequel. She's a Soviet superspy who doubles as Black Widow, a beauty in a skintight black costume enhanced by high-tech weaponry.

Blunt, whose credits include "The Devil Wears Prada," "The Jane Austen Book Club" and "Charlie Wilson's War," will get a profile boost when she stars with Benicio Del Toro in the Joe Johnston-directed "The Wolf Man" for Universal.

Marvel would not comment on the Black Widow casting. The Justin Theroux-scripted "Iron Man 2" will begin production in the spring for release by Paramount in summer 2010.

Actor Sam Rockwell (Choke, Charlie's Angels) has opened up about playing the villainous Justin Hammer in Iron Man 2.

Rockwell described his character to MTV as "a rival" of Tony Stark's (played once again by Robert Downey Jr.). "He takes over all the weapons stuff after Tony's left." You will recall that Stark forsaked weapons manufacturing after returning from captivity in Afghanistan, a redemptive act that sparked the wrath of his shady partner Obadiah Stane, a.k.a. Iron Monger.

Rockwell added, "I don't know if (Hammer) takes over Stark Industries. ... I'm not really sure yet. He's a money dude. That's about all I can say."

The actor also confirmed that director Jon Favreau had once discussed the possibility of him playing Stark before Downey was cast. His girlfriend, Leslie Bibb, appeared in Iron Man as the reporter that Stark beds after an interview.

Rockwell said that he expects to begin filming his scenes by mid-April, and that he's excited to act opposite Mickey Rourke, who will play the sequel's other villain.

It looks like Emily Blunt won't be playing The Black Widow in Iron Man 2 after all. But fear not, fanboys, as another Hollywood hottie is said to be keen on replacing her.

Blunt is contractually obligated to appear in Fox's Gulliver's Travels, and although her reps are trying to arrange schedules so that she can do both films, the problem is that Iron Man 2 reportedly doesn't have a firm start date or shooting script yet.

Thus, as Entertainment Weekly's Hollywood Insider blog reports, "Marvel is in discussions with other actresses, most significantly Scarlett Johansson, to take her place, EW has learned exclusively. Marvel will not confirm, but sources around Hollywood say Johansson has indeed met with the filmmakers and is interested in taking the role of Russian superspy Natasha Romanoff, who doubles as Black Widow."

Johansson is no stranger to comic book movies having previously appeared in The Spirit, in which she starred opposite Samuel L. Jackson, who was also supposed to appear in Iron Man 2 until his contract negotiations broke down.

Despite public pleas from star Robert Downey, Jr. to appear in Iron Man 2, it doesn't look like Oscar nominee Mickey Rourke will play the villain in the Marvel sequel after all.

Rourke, who is the frontrunner to win Best Actor at this weekend's Academy Awards ceremony, told New York Magazine, "Right now, we're not doing Iron Man 2." The magazine said that Rourke's agent is currently "battling Marvel for a bigger paycheck."

Rourke reportedly received a lowball offer of $250,000 from Marvel to play either the Crimson Dynamo or Whiplash, depending on which trade paper you read.

Mickey Rourke has closed his deal to play the Russian villain in "Iron Man 2."

His involvement was expected , but dealmaking was arduous after Marvel Entertainment offered "The Wrestler" star only $250,000 for his first major studio film in years.

Rourke's salary will be now better than that.

While his ICM rep, David Unger, battled for more dough, Rourke's encounters with "Iron Man" star Robert Downey Jr. on the awards circuit sealed his participation in the film.los

Rourke won the Golden Globe and was Oscar nominated for "The Wrestler" and Downey got Golden Globe and Oscar nominations for "Tropic Thunder," so Downey used each occasion to recruit Rourke.

When Downey, Rourke as well as actors including Frank Langella and Anne Hathaway took part in a roundtable discussion with Newsweek's David Ansen, Downey interrupted the proceedings, reached across the table and flat out asked Rourke to do "Iron Man 2."

Rourke also met with Jon Favreau and scribe Justin Theroux and got to be part of the development of his character. He'll play Whiplash, a character that includes elements from that comicbook villain and Crimson Dynamo, another Russian baddie.

Marvel wouldn't confirm Rourke's involvement, but he's planning to join Downey, Sam Rockwell and Samuel L. Jackson, with Scarlett Johansson the frontrunner to play the Black Widow.

Mickey Rourke has opened up about playing a villain in Iron Man 2.

The Oscar-nominated actor won the role of the sequel's secondary villain, the brawn to Sam Rockwell's brains. Rockwell plays Tony Stark's rival industrialist Justin Hammer, while Empire Online has clarified that Rourke will play Whiplash. (Conflicting early reports had created some confusion as to whether Rourke was playing Crimson Dynamo or Whiplash.)

Rourke told the magazine that he's "having the time of my life!" making the Jon Favreau-directed film. But the job has not been without its challenges, namely the suit of armor that Rourke wears in the film. As the actor explains, "It's been really brutal, because my Iron Man suit weighs 23lb. It's sort of a half-suit, with half my skin showing, with lots of Russian tattoos, because [Whiplash is just] out of a Russian-zone prison."

Marvel's bio of Whiplash, a.k.a. Mark Scarlotti, describes the character as "a brilliant young man with a bright future" at Stark International until he fell in with a bad crowd and ended up developing weapons for organized crime. As a costumed gun-for-hire, Scarlotti found employment with Justin Hammer, who hired the villain to go after rogue employees. Scarlotti began his career as Blacklash before changing costumes and renaming himself Whiplash.

Don't expect to see Bruce Banner making a cameo in Iron Man 2.

That's according to Ed Norton anyway, who of course played the scientist/big green monster in last year's The Incredible Hulk.

In a (brief) interview with MTV News at the Toronto Film Festival, the actor was asked about recent rumours suggesting he'd be showing up in Jon Favreau's sequel.

"I heard that. I don't know where that's coming from," he said. "I am not in Iron Man 2 to my knowledge."

The news sounds pretty conclusive and will also cast further doubt over the future of The Incredible Hulk on the big screen in its current guise.

As long as it has downey jnr in it. It'll be good. He is the best actor getting around hollywood at the moment. And thor will be in it. Once they realize that he will attract a lot of gay and "pagan"(lol) film goers.

Sam Rockwell was at Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas this week promoting his hilarious new comedy Gentlemen Broncos, and spoke quite a bit about next summer's Iron Man 2.

"It was great... it was a good time, a lot of fun," he explained of his work on the blockbuster sequel. "It's like the all-stars; like the globe-trotters or something. You know, Don Cheadle, Mickey Rourke, Gwyneth [Paltrow], Scarlett [Johansson] and Robert Downey Jr. And Sam Jackson's there too. It does feel like you're passing the ball with Michael Jordan and then onto Larry Bird."

When asked what would be different this time around, Rockwell said "It's a bigger scope. There's a lot more action and fighting. More characters. It's bigger and there's a lot more to get your head around, so it's a tougher job for [Jon] Favreau and Justin Theroux, who wrote it."

But what of his character, Justin Hammer. "He's a rival of Tony's - they are competitors in the weapons industry. I team up with Michey Rourke and we decide we want to take him down and take down the Stark legacy. He's sort of like a cousin of the Charlie's Angels character I played. The smarmy cousin. But it's Mickey - he does the fighting and the kicking ass in the film."

So has this given Rockwell the superhero bug and could he see himself taking the lead in such a film? "I would love to do something like that. It would have to be a pretty strange superhero. I would love to do that with someone like Duncan [Jones, who directed Rockwell in Moon]. Duncan and I could create something really cool. I would love to create a character like Indiana Jones or something like that."

Iron Man 2 hits cinemas next summer.

Is there gonna be other hero in this movie? Cause if he joins the avengers (which he did in the trailer) hes gotta met another hero instead of Nick Furry. I really hope its Daredevil or Punisher. :D

The latest trailer for Iron Man 2 ended with Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) and War Machine (Don Cheadle) fighting back-to-back. Marvel Comics Editor-in-Chief Joe Quesada has seen a "rough cut of the movie" and told MTV that War Machine fans won't be disappointed.

I've actually seen a rough cut of the movie, and it's going to be good. Cheadle is one of the greatest living American actors, what do you expect? I think fans are going to love it — especially fans of War Machine — and he does kick some major ass.

Quesada admits to having a soft spot for the character James "Rhodey" Rhodes, a.k.a. War Machine, as well as another African-American character, the Black Panther.

I've always had a special connection to the Black Panther. One of the things that made Marvel stand out for me was that they had a character called the Black Panther. As a Latin kid growing up in Queens, while I'm not African-American, the Black Panther signaled to me that Marvel was open to characters of all race while other companies weren't at that time. It really made Marvel feel like it was my company.

A Black Panther movie is being considered, and may possibly have G.I. Joe's Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje in the role. For now, Marvel is actively working on Thor as well, which Quesada says in good hands.

I've sat through the story meetings and sat with [Kenneth] Branagh. The character is in tremendous hands. Branagh understand the mythology and what he doesn't understand, he's asking questions about — in particular, the comic book mythology. He's really immersed himself in it. It's going to be pretty epic, and regardless of what you think it's going to be, it's going to surprise people.

Iron Man 2 will be in theaters next summer.

One of the last blockbusters resisting the temptation to turn 3D is Iron Man 2, but don’t fret, because Marvel have their finger on the pop culture pulse.

Marvel knows the kids don't really want to see ol' Shell Head swooping round in 3D.

What the kids really want to see is a story about AC/DC releasing the soundtrack to Iron Man 2.

Well, Christmas just came early.

AC/DC: Iron Man 2, essentially a best of release from the band that practically invented heavy metal, includes Shoot To Thrill, which was last heard blaring on the Iron Man 2 trailer.

“Music is an integral part of the Tony Stark and Iron Man experience, and we are pleased that Columbia and AC/DC are taking part in the franchise’s phenomenon," said Tim Connors, Chief Operating Officer, Marvel Studios.

If that wasn't enough, a new music video for Shoot To Thrill has been released online. Try to contain your excitement, really.

The video features footage of AC/DC on tour in Buenos Aires and clips from Iron Man 2, but there's no sign of any action that we haven't seen before.

AC/DC: Iron Man 2 is due April 19, and the movie will be released on 30 April.

Calm, deep breath - but Jon Favreau might have just dropped the biggest hint about The Avengers movie yet.

In a recent tweeting session, Favreau was asked if Iron Man 2 takes place before or after the Incredible Hulk - to which he sharply replied 'before'.

Now we know what your thinking, what's the big deal with that?

Hardly matters right?

Wrong!

Cast your mind back to the end of The Incredible Hulk movie, which ended with Tony Stark recruiting General Ross for his "team" - and everything becomes a lot more clear.

Favreau's tweet is not just some throwaway comment but points towards something much bigger, and the only logical conclusion is The Avengers.

The permutations suggest's that Iron Man 2 will possibly feature members of the Avengers putting the "team" together.

Couple that with the fact we've already seen Samuel L Jackson as Nick Fury in the official Iron Man 2 trailer and you've got excitement levels at death con three!

But is this all getting a bit complicated?

Will we really see all those superheroes, played by the same actors (Captain America hasn’t even been made yet!), in a big Marvel movie?

It would take a gargantuan effort to pull that one off. Plus, Edward Norton threw his toys out of the pram during the post-production on Louis Leterrier’s film and refused to do publicity and didn’t much like the film.

Well, characters have been crossing over into each others movies, so it better be for something other than a nice “reference” to the Marvel universe.

So will a big, bad Marvel smackdown be on its way in the near future?

Is there a grand scheme?

We want answers, godammit!
