I gotta say, regardless of the reviews, The Ruins kicked major ass! It's scary, it's gory, it's smart, it's original, it's got it all.
I read the novel by Scott Smith, which was published last year, and he wrote the script for the film as well, so the material was treated with care.
I read the novel, and when I put it down I was like, "There's no way the movie can be as good as this... this might be one of the best horror novels I've ever read"... and sure enough, the movie was fucking FANTASTIC.
One of the best horror movies in the past decade, and I LOVE horror, so this is saying a lot coming from me. Go see the damn movie, and IGNORE all the haters. People don't know a good movie when they see one.
