I was on a website called BlogTV and came up with an awesome idea for a movie that I don't really think has been done but I want some feedback from you guys. Here is the plot outline.
A young girl around the age of 16 hosts a nightly video blog live from her basement via BlogTV.com. She chats with different people who come in and out of the chat area while she sits in front of her webcam. One night a stranger comes wondering into the chat room and sets up his mic to talk to her on the site. The two form a sort of bond over the next few weeks and months and continue to talk and get to know eachother. The story then takes a turn for the worse when the young girl starts getting wierd messages, and stuff delivered to her house. Oblivious to what is going on she continues to talk to the man even though he is stalking her.
Lots of twists and turns and on the edge of your seat stuff I need to think of.
Tell me what you think.

Don't like the blog party idea just sounds like it'd be a When A Stranger Calls kinda clone.

How is that a clone of When a Stranger Calls. That is based on a girl babysitting who get's odd calls. This has to do with how people use the internet nowadays and stuff and meet people randomly off line.
I know you are just giving feedback I am just curious why you think that way?

Just the whole communication as a catalyst deal reminds me of WASC.
Hard Candy did the whole meeting strangers on the net thing too (I know its a deferent premise).
The whole thing just sounds like it'd be a dull thriller flick.... but thats just me.

Completely understandable.
I think if it is written right and done right it could be awesome.

Just carry on. To me...all depends on how the story is finally going to be present or executes as final product.... The story is just fine but I think it'll be better the more you think & work with the plot which is needed. Wish you all the best.

Could be really hit-or-miss...its a decent concept, but variations have it have been done to death.
It all depends on the script itself, IMO. If you think you can give it life and make it more than a run-of-the-mill techno thriller, I say go for it. Make sure you show us the finished product!

Thanks man.
I am really going to try and shape it and make it my own and make sure it's not just a bland thriller. I will make sure to show everyone when I finish it.

With all the wierdo's stalking 16 yr old n under kids online to today. it wouldn't be so much a horror film but a real life drama film, based on about 16,000 true stories.

Exactly. You're essentially using the stalker/slasher concept, which is entirely derivative, but through the medium of the internet, which one sees now through movies like Swimfan, Hard Candy (though, to it's credit, it was attempting to do a role reversal), and even Halloween Resurrection (the attempt to make Halloween "modern" through webcams).
HOWEVER, I am personally a HUGE sucker for slashers, so by that token, you already have me hooked. But I would leave it up to the writing to decide the merits of the film - I honestly believe that it could be done well, Red. :)
I would love to see your script - Just dive into it and start writing.

What if the girl knew the guy was a serial killer and that's why she wanted him on her show? It is a webcam so there is the illusion of safety there and the girl was trying to get a show full of serial killers and interview them.
Maybe she was doing the show as ploy to find out how serial killers work and then she becomes the serial killer of serial killers and comes after these guys. A little role-reversal.
Just trying to come up with a fresh idea here :)

computers are the antithesis of "cinematic" and characters sitting in a chair, typing and clicking seems really boring.
nothing wrong with the story, it just isn't a film.
it would make a much better short story

I understand where you are all coming and I thank you all for your feedback. To Sean with the boring aspect. In my mind the flick wouldn't all surround her sitting there on the computer. There will be parts of her life that are shown and also 'his' life too. I am going to try and come up with different concepts and ideas for twists and turns and what not to keep it fresh and exciting.
