I figured with all the new avatars we should have a thread dedicated to sharing ours with the community. This will not only help the new folk who don't want to use one from the small collection stored on HDC but also anybody looking for a change. Just make sure if you post them they're able to be used on the forum and meet the strict requirements of HDC.

Nice, but it's too big, please make sure it meets the 150 x 150 <2.4 kb rule. ;)

That's one of the reasons I started the thread. I noticed how cool yours and ChronoGirl's was and thought we should have a place to post nice avatars so new members have a better selection to pick from. It would be better if there was a way to submit some to Horror to add to the basic list but, well, you know.

how do you make the file size small enough without downgrading the picture quality too much?

I use photoshop and the "save for web" function and then optimize the file by finding a good balance between picture size and quality. There are also some free pic optimizers out there but they don't give you as much control.

those two might be quite good. I like the lucifer one. A decent size as well!

The lucifer one needs to be a bit smaller I think, it's height was something like 192 pixels (150 max). Other than that they look great.

ok I tried and I failed..... I don't know how to make them a decent size without being more than 2.4kb... they are too small when im done with them.... wtf.... I was wondering if anybody could make one for me. if I posted the picture i mean. I can't figure it out.

I could try whenever I had the time and FC AND _V_ are both great at reducing the file sizes.

Here's a couple quick ones, I tried them both out and they fit just fine. Let me know if either will work ok... at least until somebody gets a better one done. :)

Let me know if you like the first or the second and I can email the file to you. If you upload it directly from your pc it's 2.38 kb but if you look at the photobucket size it's a little over the limit.

Maybe this one? This one seems to be fine to download and use, doesn't have to be e-mailed like psycho's will if he wants them. I hate that they add that little tiny bit of extra coding so files that are right on the brink are pushed over.

Anyone want a picture shrunken down. I use Paint.net to do it. It's a good programme for doing that. If anyone wants to download it but need help I'll be happy to assist.

First, it has to be a picture you have saved from the internet to do this. You can't have done anything to it in microsoft paint or anything, so that makes cropping a problem. A problem I haven't been able to solve yet. but anyone, you open the saved picture, click image - resize. From there you change it so it's less than 150 X 150. You then click save. A thing will come up giving you the option to shrink it down in K.B. It makes the quality worse but oh well!

New people who don't want to use the stock avatars but can't find anything good that fits in with the HDC size constraints. Certainly not old members with an almost superhuman inability to accept change. ;)
