Does anybody have any really good theaters around your area? We have a few huge digital experiences, some with a full bar, but not much that really goes off the mainstream path. Hell, a few friends and myself have decided to drive to Chicago to a theater called the Music Box just to see Teeth. About the only non-traditional theater (and I don't mean showing something indie or rare once in a great while) is the Michigan Theater in Ann Arbor. They're doing a "Great Directors Film Series" on Ridley Scott for a month so I'll get to see Blade Runner, The Duellists, and Alien in the theater (and thise theater even has a pipe organ from the silent film era that's still played before the shows) and that's great but I just wish we had more.

indianapolis has jack crap for the most part. there's an "art cinema" way on the north side of the city that generally has some cool stuff i can't find anywhere else (i'll be seeing the funny games remake there on saturday).

i love the music box, though. i've gone to their annual music box massacre (24 hour horror movie marathon) and it's incredible. one of the highlights of each year, for sure. if you haven't gone before, you absolutely must if you can get the chance.

Down the hill in Sacramento, we have an AWESOME old theater called the Crest....it's one of those ooolld theaters, and sometimes you can get beer. They do Spike and Mike's Sick and Twisted Animation festival there, and at the midnight show the entire theater is filled with pot smoke. I like the way it's built, with all the goldleafing and the cool ceiling that has different colors swirling in it.
And yes, there are colors even when there is no pot smoke;)
